Very relaxed. The owner was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, close to the centre of the city, but away from the noisy area. The hotel is a 45 minute walk from the main station. Make sure you have a good map before arriving. It would be a good idea to hire a bike or familiarise yourself with the workings of the metro/tram system before arriving.

Hotel actually matched my expectation - exactly how was described in the site. Location is not exactly in the center of the city but quite close so this was no issue. Stops are very close and you either can walk or take a train. I'd not even prefer to stay in noisy center. Owner is very nice person. And one more thing (actually - two) - he has two birman cats - they were just wonderful. And in the morning you hear the singing of the birds in the garden (at least from my room) which is amazing. Very quiet place which is good after tiring activities in the city. Coffee, food is available all day so you can have a small snack in midday time if you want to have a 1-2 hours rest between city activities. Steers are very steep so this can be problem for old/disable people. Generally in most duch houses steers are so - it is to save a space . So this does not say something particularly bad for this hotel but just you need to be aware. As for me - it was just interesting experience to climb on them.

Location of the hotel was great and the room was spacious. We also liked the possibility to eat breakfast/snacks anytime you want. The hotel's cats were lovely. It was a bit cold in the room.

Excellent location, close to city centre but in a quiet location on a canal. The owner had a brilliant idea to offer free coffee, tea and snacks all day long. For elder people, the steep and narrow stairs might rise problems.

A nice house on a newer gracht with a pleasant dining-room where self-service breakfast is available anytime and bar service if you ring. Individual atmosphere. Clean and cozy. No-drugs policy sign-posted. On the 3 to 5 minutes walk to the tram station Waterlooplein you pass the entrance of the dependency of the Ermitage Museum, the metro station Waterlooplein is also 3 to 5 minutes walking away but another way. Night buses stop on Waterlooplein, too. Do not expect the standards from hotel chains. I needed an invoice, it came hand-written on notice-paper with a rubber-stamp (enough for my tax office, but if you are on a business-trip you might need it more formal).

If you like a hotel with character and location, Hotel Adolesce is a great one, plus the proprieter Kees is very personable. We were looking for a city experience, but without having to deal with the nightlife noises of Amsterdam. Great place, very Dutch, very good. Stairs take some getting used to but no worries after the first climb.

The relaxed atmosphere and the genial, accommodating nature of the proprietor. Its convenient position for many of the main cultural attractions, and the fact that although the hotel claimed not to do breakfast, you could in fact make yourself a more than adequate one from the wide range of foods and drinks available. Only that the very steep nature of the stairs would make it hazardous for people who were not as agile as us.

We liked most the 24-hour open breakfast, with a huge selection of breads, cold foods and drinks! The hotel is close to a tram stop. And the staff were very friendly and helpful. Get ready to climb steep stairs - our room was on the third floor so it was a challange to bring the luggages to our room.

Everything was perfect!! I highly recommend this hotel. Location is really good, personnel super kind and the room big and comfortable. The 24 hour buffet, with fresh products, is something you would really appreciate as well! Really good value for the money :-) If I had to say something, it good be the difficult stairs to get to the room. But it is the same in all hotels in Amsterdam, so it is just a comment, not a dislike!

Loved this place! Staff helpful and very friendly. Great location, clean & warm.Spacious rooms. Open kitchen with free snacks available 24 hours.Comfy dining area. Highly reccomended. Book early to avoid disappointment. Free WIFI Access. 10/10. One word of warning: Only use the registered Taxis from the airport. We were guided to a taxi with no plate and charged double fare to city centre. Stand at Offical Taxi rank and dont be persuaded to another car !!

Hotel Adolesce is very well located in Amsterdam. It is close to trams, canals, the city centre and many resatuarnts as well as the famouse night life of Amsterdam. Tha host was amazing. Nothing was a problem and he was most hospitable - even having a late night drink with us on our ;last night in Amsterdam. The room as enormous, There was food available as part pf the tariff 24/7. The staircase was steep but that seems very European and let's face it, we take our cases up and dwon each way once only! We would not heaitate to recommend it as very good value for money.

The hotel was in a great location. A quiet canal, but still close enough to transportation and the busier stuff. Was nice to get away from everything while still being close by. The owner was as friendly as any I have encountered. Made everyone feel welcome. The room we had was amazing. Fairly simple in furnishings, but roomy and wall to wall windows with a view overlooking the canal. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Nothing much that I can think of. I loved the steep stairs at the entry to access the rooms, but for some not accustomed to how Amsterdam will be if you are visiting the way many live, it may be a bit daunting.

We were given a room on a lower floor than we had been booked into which was a great relief as the stairs were very steep! (Which I believe is the norm in Amsterdam). The room was really big and also had a balcony, it was lovely to have some room after the tiny rooms in London. The lounge area downstairs was nice to relax and the help-yourself array of snacks and tea/coffee was excellent.

Basic hotel, clean, spacious rooms, en-suite, on fantastic location with kind personnel, breakfast 24/7, and Internet. Last but not least, for a decent price. Would certainly go there again! Not much. Nothing actually.

-24Hour breakfast buffet!! -Clean, polite staff -Nice location and price -Ok, there are the steep stairs, but is not a big deal. If you have really enormous and a big number of luggage then request to get a room in the ground floor
