Hotel Ajax  

Rather good value for price. The location was outstanding. Each room has its own entry alarm on the door, which was a nice touch. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

The bed was a bit mushy (not horrible- some would probably consider it a plus). The toilet paper dispenser was mounted facing the toilet (and was rather large), so I had to sit at an angle.

Location very good, 200 meters from Dam Square!!!

Good location, very helpful & friendly staff, good breakfast comfortable beds. good hot water in shower & nice to have a fridge. Room was clean.

Two out of 3 windows would not stay open, 1 out of 3 bed lamps worked, shower arm was broken toilet flushing panel was broken. Regular maintence of the rooms need to be attented to.

Its location which is why we chose it

Curtains were dirty, room smelled badly of smoke, counterpane had burn marks on it and the breakfast was one of the worst I've experienced in Holland.

The room was probably one step behind a youth hostel. I was there for the Europa Cup final and ordinarily wouldn't stay in a hotel like this. As the city was packed and the prices high. There was little alternative. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for any reason as it was by far the worst hotel I have stayed in although the night staff were dead friendly

1) At breakfast diluted cordial for juice, cheap and not fresh bread rolls. 2) WiFi did not reach 3rd floor. 3) Mice in rooms. 4) Tiny, cramped and scruffy room in dire need of redecoration. 5) Just a small step above a basic backpacker hostel charging exhorbitant 3 star plus rates. 6) Only stay here if there is no other choice.

Where it was

The fact the room looked nothing like the photos on the website. The noise from people trying to get in there rooms was ridiculously loud. There was hair and dirt on the bed sheets when we checked in. The windows didn't open and the bathroom light didn't work. After sleeping in the bed for an hour I had been bitten by something 10 times god knows what it was because it wasn't a mosquito. Really all rather awful.

You get what you pay for. If your thinking of staying at the Ajax you need to answer one simple question, "am I planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel" If the answer is no then book it (great location at price), if answer is yes then don't book it! Simple

The tv didn't work properly and none of the staff knew how to fix it or when the manager was going to be in

The only problem with the room was the windows didnt stay open unless you proped them with something.

They never cleaned our room up, and the place is really dirty, there is no elevator. Per tutto il soggiorno non ci hanno mai pulito la stanza. La struttura e decadente e sporca in ogni sua parte.

The worst hotel ever i have ever been , i don't recommend it to anyone. Everything is bad in this hotel and nothing excepted, and the hotel manager is really aggrissve with customers !!

Only thing I liked was the staff and the room was very warm (after we have asked for the heting to be turned on). They were very polite and tried to help.

Very old hotel, poor facilities. The hotel is located in the city center close to everithing, but this was not it's advantage. Noice coming from the street (trafic and other) was unbearable. We could not sleep at all.

The location was fantastic, and the 24hr reception was great for if you want to go out and about after hours.

The room was quite drab, with dim lighting and a charming view of the neighbouring brick wall. The bathroom was cramped and basic.

Physical conditions.

It is possible to stay 5 in a room/family room. It is a clean hotel, the staff are nice And polite,- and you are placed right in the central of Amsterdam. Its a good price.

The electricity wasnt good at our room; lights was out of order, some lamps didnt work. Get the staff and let Them fix it instead of living whithout all lights at the beds.
