We stayed in Alfa Plantage for one week. The staff was great, helpful and polite. Our room was on the 4 floor, under the roof and we found it very cozy. The window was just above the bed, so we could watch the sky before falling asleep. The bathroom was really clean and towels were changed every day. There is an elevator. The hotel is within walking distance from city center, but not too close, so the area is quiet and nice. The cafe across the street offers very good breakfasts and is open till 1 a.m. The floor was not too clean and there was a dead fly on the mirror. I got an impression, that the housekeeper does her routine cleaning and doesn`t mind anything else that has to be cleaned. The room was small, and really not too much place for clothes, but we liked it.

the hotel is fine overall.it's located 3 tram station from dam square.the hotel is located next to a tram station which is great and there are two pubs near the hotel.it's not far if going by tram.but if you decide to spend the night far from the hotel (ex: dam square, red-light district...etc) you will find yourself walking 30 minutes or taking a taxi or a night bus which will make a long trip before getting your area.the hotel personnel are very nice and helpful. the hotel is a bit old..but it is ok.the only disadvantages in the hotel is the bed sheets, linen and towels which are very old.other than that i didn't find any reasons to not use the hotel

The location was excellent: very quiet, nice area but still in the centre. Also, the tram stop is located right in front of the hotel. The room was quite small

Reasonable price, near outdoor market, 1 tram from train station to right in front of hotel, quiter area but still easy to walk everywhere. Front end staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend for those on a tight budget that aren't looking for anything extra. First room we were in was ridiculously small...would have been hard to turn around in the bathroom. Paid extra for a larger room. Tv very small. Cleaner didn't do great job. Stayed for 2 nights. No clean glasses the 2nd day and did not leave an extra roll of toilet paper. Review stated "new hotel." Nothing was new about this place.

The location is excellent. Tram 9 get you from central station /Dam square door to door or 20 mins walk from most of the sightseeing spots. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The bathroom is newly furnished so it is clean and neat. Free wifi with stable reception. Lift is avaliable in this hotel. The room is small and old but still acceptable, as maid come for cleaning. There are no fridge in the room The room price is a little bit high with reference to the room quality and facility.

Great location easily reached from Central Station via Tram 9 (door-to-door!). Lots of restaurants nearby -- cafes for breakfast and lunch. Small but serviceable elevator. Good security as all guests must pass reception. Bathroom very small but shower had plentiful hot water and good water pressure. Room was sunny and well-heated! Did not appear as in pictures. Rooms are small. Carpet was badly stained.

The staff was nice, the tram stopping in front of the hotel, internet access was ok and free and the central heating was working! The room 41 had nothing to do with the pictures on the web; simply disgraceful. The bathroom was so small that I could not even spin around myself. The towels had holes, the bed sheets were stained, the furniture was embarrassing/baffling specially if you consider that this hotel is rated as 3 stars hotel at Eur74 per night at least.

Probably one of the cheapest hotels in Amsterdam. The room was quite nice and clean, in keeping with our expectations. The district is quiet and nice. We had what we needed. The price is much too high for a hotel of this standard, but it seems to be a rule in Amsterdam... Maintenance is not zealous: a piece of the shower was broken and towels were ancient, there were holes in them.

Genial staff; good tram service and proximity to centre. Distinct lack of care & presentation: awful carpet; shabby decor; bathroom fittings loose, bad lighting & no towel rail; no comfy seating; kettle but nothing else; poor quality beds, bedding & 1 pillow; item of underwear left on balcony. Superior?

Excellent area, great tram lines and there were few quite nice bub nearby. I wonder where had they get those three stars? Hotel was more like hostel. Very stinky and uncomfortable rooms and atmosphere. Nice place if you have tight budjet and want to stay quit cheap. Beware extra transaction fees!

Worn and rather old rooms, but cleanliness was ok. New bathrooms :-) The beds are on wheels (for the comfort of the cleaning lady!) making them useless as double beds. At the day of arrival there was a smell of skunk in the first floor, even though smoking was not allowed.

The hotel is in an excellent location and has the advantage of having an elevator - considering the difficulty in lugging up your luggage of extremely narrow stairs. But that's about it we had friends staying at the nearby Rembrandt hotel which was a far superior hotel for the same money. Don't stay here! The hotel provides no extras to the point where the towels are old and thin, the pillows are gross and the toilet paper could be used to sand wood. Our room was a bit larger because we were traveling with an infant but my parents had an attic room where their heads were at the foot of the bed because of pitch of the roof - you could barely stand up in the room! They provided us with a free cot - only because there is no way you could charge for it - it was filthy, full of holes and missing the mattress - they actually thought a baby could sleep on some metal cross bars covered by a sheet! We had friends staying in the Rembrandt hotel down the street in the garden room on the first floor and the Rembrandt room on the second - if you can reserve either of these rooms you won't regret it they were amazing - and at least you can get a cup of coffee in the morning there! If only we hadn't paid in advance!

Hotel is located in quiet area very close to the city center /walking distance/ and very close to Zoo. Across the street there is a ,,caffe" /bar with breakfast, lunch and good choice of spirits. I would like recommended walk to the wind mill, about 10 min. If you are looking for good accomodation to take deep sleep and protect your food before long distance, this is what you are looking for... but this place can be claustrophobic for persons who like spend holidays in hootel rooms. You can get a free map in recepcion and a discounts to many popular places + internet acces. Every day room service / new towels and basic cleaning. I can not judge the entire hotel... just my room. So get started: Broken air conditioning, broken electric kettlel, double room but more like twin room / juts 2 beed put together /, no toilet paper, no cups, towels...more holes than towels!! After that... 5 star.

This hotel was awful - room was dirty, smelled like mold & was damp. Bathroom was clean but shower didn't drain well. Location is OK bit you can find better for this price. I would visit Amsterdam again in a heart beat but would rather sleep on the street than in this hotel again. Everything - staff was rude and made ignorant comments about Americans. Dirty, moldy rooms.
