Oh dear oh dear oh dear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing but we did like the fact that the number 9 tram stopped outside the front door. If we had had to walk to Central Station we probably wouldnt have come back. Our attic room had a double bed - it looked odd - the headboard - had there been one - was in the centre off the room - when I say centre thats generous. The reason dawned on us - the sloping roof. The ceiling light seemed to be missing - there were 2 bedside lights with sockets at the foot of the bed - the bedside tables prevented access to the sockets and there was no switch on either light. The tv was cleverly positioned to watch upside down whilst hanging your head off the end of the bed. Getting into bed was a little easier than getting out which required a backward roll whilst avoiding the bedside lights with your feet. The washbasin tap was broken, the toilet is not suitable for anyone above size zero and requires engaging reverse gear to access. One of our towels was held together by the holes although they were changed daily - and replaced with similar towels!! It had all the appearance of a backpackers hotel dowdy and in need of new carpets and furnure. The only difference was the price !!!!!! Our double room was realistically a single but the Hotel owners have an imaginative way of converting it - shame they didnt realise that the guests wouldnt fit as well.

We stayed in Alfa Plantage for one week. The staff was great, helpful and polite. Our room was on the 4 floor, under the roof and we found it very cozy. The window was just above the bed, so we could watch the sky before falling asleep. The bathroom was really clean and towels were changed every day. There is an elevator. The hotel is within walking distance from city center, but not too close, so the area is quiet and nice. The cafe across the street offers very good breakfasts and is open till 1 a.m. The floor was not too clean and there was a dead fly on the mirror. I got an impression, that the housekeeper does her routine cleaning and doesn`t mind anything else that has to be cleaned. The room was small, and really not too much place for clothes, but we liked it.

The location (5-10 minutes to Rembrandt Plein which is pretty much already part of the city centre) and, although the surroundings didn't suggest that at first, it seemed like a nice, quiet neighborhood. The rooms were a decent size, clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable and the real bonus point for this hotel were the bathrooms (I've stayed in both a double and a triple room). They're sparkling clean, they look brand new, fitted with very nice bathroom ware. In the triple room, the bathroom had a tub and it was quite spacious as well. Warning ! The hotel charges an extra 4% in case you use a debit/credit card when you pre-pay your booking or even when you have to pay the city tax at the reception. The staff really seemed to be trying, but they couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation. Also, don't expect some big hotel, although it may look so from the outside front picture, it's a hotel in a traditional Dutch house, once you open the door, the reception hits you - a desk on top of a few stairs. The very small hallway and the even smaller elevator may not be suitable for claustrophobic people (but neither are the spiral stairs), but once you're in a room, it should feel ok. .

Very small rooms. Elevator could only hold one person and their luggage. Stairs narrow. Room nothing to brag about. There was nothing superior about it.

Location and the reception were great and helpfull. Room was quite. Having the hotel on tram line 9 and 14 is advantage for city tour. Room is very small and basic with the features. No space for personal things. Floor looks old and not clean. Towels were old with lots of use though were clean. 14" TV. Hotel rated as 3 stars, but to my opinion this is not 3 stars.

Absolutely nothing. Terrible experience: no telephone in the room, filty floor, no toilet paper, broken shower, broken hair dryer, all lights had no switch they had to be plugged in the elecrical outlet to be turned on and unplugged to be turned off. I would not stay in this hotel again if it was free.

There is really not much to like about this hotel. The hot water in the bathroom is about the only decent thing that is available here! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are small and poorly maintained. There is no telephone service in the room. The staff is arrogant and very rude. For the price that the hotel charges per night for a room, it is a really bad deal.

The location was quite good, 15 min walking to the city centre. When we arrived at the hotel, the guy at the reception made us pay a fee for using credit card but we had paid in advance with a debit card. Also, in our second day, when we arrived at out bedroom after spending all day out we found our door was open, one of the cleaners didn't close it properly. That same night my partner wanted to have a shower but we didn't have any towels in the bedroom. He went to reception but they told him they only had one towel available, which was full of holes. Although the location is good I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and in my next trip to Amsterdam I will stay somewhere else.

Hello, I am really sorry but I want to mention it clearly that the price of your Hotel don't reflet the price. Your price is really very high compared to your rooms status. For example for the internet connexion you should restart your router to get the connexion, the tv dont fonction correctly, your lighting system we feel that we are in the 10th century,.....Regards. Only the position of the hotel. There was a tram station near the hotel They wanted for us to pay extra 6% fee for VISA's transaction. A fee which automatically is charged to the hotel and its definitely not included in the client's responsibilities. In addition, this it was not mentioned in the hotel's terms and conditions in the website and for that reason is not legal. Further of this, the hotel was not clean and the never cleaned the bed and the room. In addition the bathroom was very small. It is the first time we staied in a hotel and we were very dissapointed because of our celection...

The hotel is in an excellent location and has the advantage of having an elevator - considering the difficulty in lugging up your luggage of extremely narrow stairs. But that's about it we had friends staying at the nearby Rembrandt hotel which was a far superior hotel for the same money. Don't stay here! The hotel provides no extras to the point where the towels are old and thin, the pillows are gross and the toilet paper could be used to sand wood. Our room was a bit larger because we were traveling with an infant but my parents had an attic room where their heads were at the foot of the bed because of pitch of the roof - you could barely stand up in the room! They provided us with a free cot - only because there is no way you could charge for it - it was filthy, full of holes and missing the mattress - they actually thought a baby could sleep on some metal cross bars covered by a sheet! We had friends staying in the Rembrandt hotel down the street in the garden room on the first floor and the Rembrandt room on the second - if you can reserve either of these rooms you won't regret it they were amazing - and at least you can get a cup of coffee in the morning there! If only we hadn't paid in advance!

This hotel was awful - room was dirty, smelled like mold & was damp. Bathroom was clean but shower didn't drain well. Location is OK bit you can find better for this price. I would visit Amsterdam again in a heart beat but would rather sleep on the street than in this hotel again. Everything - staff was rude and made ignorant comments about Americans. Dirty, moldy rooms.

the hotel is fine overall.it's located 3 tram station from dam square.the hotel is located next to a tram station which is great and there are two pubs near the hotel.it's not far if going by tram.but if you decide to spend the night far from the hotel (ex: dam square, red-light district...etc) you will find yourself walking 30 minutes or taking a taxi or a night bus which will make a long trip before getting your area.the hotel personnel are very nice and helpful. the hotel is a bit old..but it is ok.the only disadvantages in the hotel is the bed sheets, linen and towels which are very old.other than that i didn't find any reasons to not use the hotel

The staff was nice, the tram stopping in front of the hotel, internet access was ok and free and the central heating was working! The room 41 had nothing to do with the pictures on the web; simply disgraceful. The bathroom was so small that I could not even spin around myself. The towels had holes, the bed sheets were stained, the furniture was embarrassing/baffling specially if you consider that this hotel is rated as 3 stars hotel at Eur74 per night at least.

The location is quite good : easy access, calm but close to the city centre. The hotel staff is Kind, although a little bit "reserved". The room was quite big, pleasant, although a little bit noisy in the morning (close to the entrance of the pavement). The narrow bed... I thought I would fall !!!

The room looked nice and the interior design of the room was very smart. The staff was usually very friendly. The services were very poor. We didn't have warm water for three mornings and we had to go down to reception to ask for resetting the boiler. The Wifi network was slow and unstable. We were charged extra 4% as "handling fee" for paying with card, though this was not mentioned anywhere in booking.com. On two mornings we did not have new shampoos in the bathroom. Though the room was clean, there were holes in the bedsheets.

The hotel staff were nice and friendly but not too professional. I’ve never been in worse hotel: the front door must be opened by receptionist (if he is present) before you get your hotel card that unlocks the door. The elevator smells. The room is small and badly equipped: no wardrobe, no table, only one chair, furniture was old, worn out and stained. The bathroom is tiny and if you are above 100 kg you'll have real difficulty using it. Faucet was not screwed to the sink, it was just hanging there. The night lamps were broken and did not have on/off switch (I had to plug and unplug them each time). The lighting was bad: I could not read a book even if I turned on the main light and the two night lamps because it was still too dark; furthermore there were no light switches near the bad. The bed was under the window with a curtain that did not work so I had to fix it myself in order to prevent light from outside coming in during the night. One of the towels I got was badly torn, the others were also old. I only got 2 small shower gels and one hair shampoo the first day, after that they did not bring additional ones although I stayed for four nights and used them all up by the second evening. When the light bulbs in the bathroom had blown I had to speak to 4 people and it still took them 24+ hours to change one of them, they haven’t changed the other one during my stay. Overall the hotel was not clean; they did not even take out the trash every day. There was disturbing noise from other rooms and hallway and from outside (tram). The hotel does not offer breakfast at all.
