Kind, considerate and helpful staff

Great location

Internet did not work on my computer, the staff said it happens sometimes, but had no solution. Rooms are small. Breakfast starts very late (at 8 am) and is basic.

We had a couple of unpleasant experiences - on first night at about 2am there was a loud scuffling and commotion outside our door which was quite frightening. Early on the second morning the same noise and commotion occured and a man actually tried to enter our room - he had something in his hand - a brush maybe - not sure. We asked the receptionist about this when checking out and she had no explanation. All in all it was a bit scarey and certainly we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone. Apart form these two incidents, the room was comfy if very basic and cramped and it was clean.

I didn't like the pillows and the bathroom is small. curtains weren't block out

used this hotel as we have visited Venlo before and well located very close to station - very friendly staff , clean tidy hotel ( its not luxury but very good value for money ) - we will use this hotel when we re-visit ( as we will as visit was to watch football ). Recommended.

The Hotel was clean and the staff were helpful. This is a basic hotel which is reflected in the price. The bistro was excellent, much better than expected for the rating of the hotel A few little details like a hair dryer in each room and shampoos etc would make make all the difference

It was Octoberfest in the town so it was very noisy but this is not the fault of the hotel.

Excellent location, we were visiting for the Floriade festival, very hany for the motor way. Friendly, helpful staff. Loved the original restaurant/ breakfast room, really gave the hotel character.

The rooms were a bit basic but very clean, needs a bit of a refurb to make the rooms in keeping with the restaurant area. Trying to find it was a bit difficult as sat nav kept on saying you are here when we were on the roundabout, then realised that the hotel was situated just off the roundabout in a pedestrianised area.

Value for money stay. Restaurant good.

Hotel American was in an ideal place for travelers. It was only about 200 meters from the train station. Rooms were comfortable. Dining experience was good. Room was quiet with most amenities. Easy walk to town square with numerous cafes. Fan in room for hot nights

I am glad that I took our own shampoo as there was none supplied.

We found it very comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The food was also very good and there was a lift!!! Would definitely go again.

Rather tired and not to the normal standard expected from booking.com. Breakfast rather meagre. Also thought it rather expensive for what was offered.

Great location being close to numerous 1st class places to eat as well as close to railway station. Previous comments stated the street noise from the street cafes which I was therefore aware of, but this ceased by 11pm.

Our room was a little noisy late at night and likely to have been significantly so at week-end another stay would request a room not overlooking square.

Normal hotel...but the restaurant downstairs is good...

We stayed to visit the Floriade which is totally awesome,way better than Hampton Court Flower Show which was very disappointing. Go visit the Floriade. The hotel staff was great. No tea making facilities in the room but it only cost 1.75 Euros at the bar with the opportunity to meet and chat with travellers from all over the world,much more pleasant. Very convenient hotel but Venlo is a bit tired. It was flattened during the war and is a bit more modern than say Delft. I wish the would call the place something other than American Hotel. It sounds a bit like stopping at Maccas but was way nicer than that. Good hotel Good price,good people Good luck

It's proximity for Floriade. It's location within Venlo - handy for railway station, shops, bars etc.

Very good location

It was not a room, it was storage for brooms. Dimensions approximately 3m to 2m. Lying across the room I touched my head and feet to the wall, and I'm 181cm growth. Equipment probably from the early 80's either, and even 70'S. Toaleta, żałosne. Spuszczając wodę wybija pod prysznicem. Floor covering the burnt by cigarettes, and you can not smoke there from at least three tat. Is worse than pathetic, shame.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Great location - close to the station, and a few minutes walk to the centre of Venlo. Good value for money. Relaxed atmosphere.

Single bedrooms were quite small. No main light in the bathrooms.

Five minutes from train station so great for travel with no auto. Good restaurants and bars within ten minute walk or at the hotel itself. Very friendly and accommodating.

Excellent location if you have business in Venlo (near train station). Breakfast is average. Rooms are clean. Exactly what one would expect of a decent low scale city hotel.

Would only recommend for overnight stay in single room. Room was very small . The bath room had smells from previous occupant. Overpriced in comparison to previous stops in smaller towns of Netherlands.
