Park Plaza Vondelpark Amsterdam    

The location

Room was very dusty, shower had no pressure, room was stuffy, blankets were old and bitty, noisy at all hours, disturbed when had do not disturb sign on door.

Good location to the tram stop. Quiet area.

The hotel needs updating.

On vondelpark, No. 1 adresse for the Amsterdam area. Highly reccomended.,very spacious rooms with big comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and shower. Centrally located with local Trams only a few meters away from the Hotel. In walking distance from some of the exklusive Designer Shops and antikes Shop as well. It is actually my favorite Hotel to stay at when visiting Amsterdam.

On arrival at the hotel- we had initially booked for the 3 & 4/5/2013 back in January 2013 and susequently (in April) added another night. On arrival at about 12:05am on Saturday morning, we were told our rooms for the 2 nights had been cancelled and had been given to someone else. This being due to the original credit card having expired - yet nobody informed us that there was any problem. We then had to go to the Plazas sister hotel near the airport for 1 night and then return to Vondelpark for the Saturday night and the Sunday night - the Sunday being booked on a newer and therefore valid c/c. All this incurred extra expense which I expect either youselves or the hotel group to reimburse me with. (details will follow )

Great location if you don't want to be right in the centre. For anyone interested in running - Vondelpark is right next to the hotel and it's a fantastic park; the hotel is really close to the no. 2 tram stop so you can get into town and back easily; the area is safe and up- market with really easy access to museumplein; some nice restaurants in the area, etc. Beds were comfortable, linen and towels spotlessly clean. Breakfast was really good - lots of options including cooked food, Dutch pancakes, pastries, fruit, yoghurts and continental style foods plus cereals and the like.

The pictures on the website are somewhat misleading regards the décor, etc. I was expecting a modern room and in fact the corridors and the room were very tired-looking. My room was small and quite dark, albeit functional. The corridors smelled of stale smoke, although my room didn't smell and it was a non-smoking room (as I assume all of them are). For me working on business, I would have liked to have had breakfast at 6.00 or 6.30 to give me time to do my run and get into the office at a good time. However, breakfast is from 7.00 with no option for earlier room service (which was stated as an option on the website) and 2 of the 4 days I was there, the main part of breakfast wasn't out in the restaurant until 7.10. Not so much an issue for people holidaying but perhaps an issue for people staying on business. I was unable to find a fitness room in the hotel, again, despite the website stating there was one.

Peaceful location with good public transport ( tram to centre 2 mins. walk away ) ....balcony for relaxing , view and smoking ! Good facilities in room ....attentive staff. (Colinda kind enough to move me from #228 to #227 after I spoke about noisy lift.)

Very noisy lift ( elevator ) adjacent to some rooms - incl.228 ! A simple kettle would be preferable to impractical coffee - maker ( over - complicated to use !) .

Location and price.

After several trips, I still don't like the two small beds pushed together to make one large bed. It would also be wonderful to have sheets on the bed and not just a comforter. Sometimes the comforter is too warm but it's too cold to have nothing over you. It would also be nice for the restrooms to provide a little more privacy but we are getting used to the glass walls that don't reach the ceiling.

After city tour when I came back to the room my laptop charger was lost with some empty water bottles . When I called reception they didnot believe then they later on found it with housekeeping after few hours. So it was bad experience

The decor was contemporary. The room was clean. Although the bathroom was tiny it was modern and clean.

The room we got was in the top floor. It was very small. There was hardly any space.

The hotel is a wonderful place to stay.

location was perfect, not too far from the town centre and situated right next to a tram stop! bed was extremely comfortable.

The bathroom is very strange, frosted glass walls,but it doesn't cover the full wall which means the other person can see in if they stand up! and the coffee machine was disgusting.

Everything was as it should be. Deserves more than 4* hotel. especially rooms building 1. Comfort was perfect, hundred percent. Also location is OK.

We loved the location and 2min walk to trolley and 20 euro cab ride to train station. Very clean/ good staff

The fitness room was nice, if your only focus is cardio. Needs a all in one weight machine. Like bow flex or a set of weights.

The staff were extremely firendly and helpful. The hotel was well situated regarding the tram facility. We had a very nice room and the breakfast was excellent.

Wasn't very keen on the 'glass' bathroom surround in the room but could live with it!

We liked it all. Nice design reception area. Excellent service by the staff. The room was surprising with all the facilities at hand. Beautiful bathroom too with separate rainshower and big bathtub. Even though we were at the front our room was pleasantly quiet

One of the best locations in A'dam- next to the main park (Vondelpark) and in the Old South area of the town close to museums and luxury shopping areas. Brilliant value for money- the room was comfortable, warm and clean with a good quality bed. Grand Cafe Willemspark is just around the corner- lovely bar. Tram 2 stops just outside. The shower and toilet was a glass- panel cubicle in the middle of the room- unusual but worked very well. Downstairs lobby and bar area are very nicely designed. Nice and quiet rooms with the view towards the park.

The sausages for breakfast were sub 0 standard- never tasted something so disgusting in my life.

Good variety of foods for breakfast.

Excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Not crowded

More leisure facilities would be a bonus
