Great location fairly central to all main areas in Amsterdam. Very nice owner and very helpful in advising about Amsterdam Ground floor family suite. The kitchen doubles up as a storeroom for food and cleaning materials eg cupboards are full of spare items. The cooker oven was full of cleaning materials. There was no adequate kitchen equipment to allow you to cook yourself. The rooms are adjacent to the access hall so you hear every movement of people coming in and going out. The noise levels from the rooms above is terrible and we never slept. Owner is very nice man and helpful but we were dissapointed because of the above.

Location for city centre is fantastic. Great views over the Amstel River too. Boutique hotel in feel, it was very comfortable indeed with tea and coffee facilities, a small fridge, hair dryer, tv and radio/cd player there too. Lovely, lovely, lovely...

The room was large and well furnished and decorated. The bathroom was all new and modern. The location was great. I liked the "do-it-yourself" continental breakfast in the room. I would definitely stay again.

Very good location and very good views over the canal. Covered car park just next door. Bathroom not en-suite (you have to go through a corridor in front of another room to access loos and bathroom). Interesting choice of colours for the room (not always matching!).

I chose this guest house because it looked a lot more spacious than the nearby hotels and a bit cheaper. It was a lovely location, I would say the nicest part I saw of Amsterdam, nice and quiet with lovely views but still only a short walk from the centre. We stayed in the Family Suite and the window was working (previous reviews had mentioned a broken window) and the front door was not difficult to close. THe heating worked really well and we had plenty to eat at breakfast. We only saw one member of staff when we checked in and he was very friendly. Free wifi! I was slightly disappointed that the bathroom was along a corridoor which was "private" but only separated from the main corridoor and stairs by a curtain! I felt I had to be presentable just to get to the loo (just in case). I had seen previous reviews saying that the upstairs bathrooms were across the hall and that was one of the reasons for going for the family room. The only other downside was that the stairs were quite noisy from our room and some noise from upstairs but it didn't disturb us too much.

The canal view room which we staying in was gorgeous. The bathroom was tiny! When booking the room it states that breakfast each morning is inculded in the price but the consisted of a loaf of bread and jams, I then had to ring the owners door bell next door,he told me I could go downstairs and take some ham and cheese myself. Ken the owner also did not come down to greet us at all. When staying in the room I would advise to lock the door at night as we heard footsteps in the hall and someone standing outside our door. The room is stunning but breakfast is a joke! And I found it very disappointing and rude that we were not greeted. I wouldnt stay here again because for the same price you could properly stay closer to dam square and have a decent breakfast in with the cost of your room for the same price.

The guest house is located close to the center of activity. It has a beautiful view of the canal, and is not far from tram stops. It was relatively quiet, and we got a good night's rest. The room is well appointed and attractive. Despite the location, it still seems pricey. The bathroom and shower are down the hallway; ok for me but not a preference for my wife. The steps could be challenging for older persons. The breakfast is do-it-yourself style in the room, and they provide packaged ham and cheese, bread, juice and fruit. As noted in the reservation, payment is in cash, which means inconvenience and fees from bank machines.

Amstel Canal Guest House is centrally located , it is a 12-15 min walk to Central Station. The room was very clean and furnished up to standard. The breakfast facilities were adequate ( considering I was there with my wife and young child). The staff were very helpful, as they helped with every request, which made our stay more enjoyable. We stayed in the Family Suite and the front window could not close properly but a grill was installed for our security. So their was a draft of air coming through the front room (living room), which needs to be fixed if anyone will be staying there during the colder months. The main front door was a bit difficult to open and close, so you had other guests slamming the door hard (which was noisy) . So the front door needs to be fixed also.

The bed. *Non smoking rooms. Smell of cannabis (room next door and probably by owners of guest house). Not every tourist wants to see Amsterdam for its culture and history... *Mosquito net in bathroom torn. Not nice in the summer. *Water discharge shower blocked up because of heavy rain, dirt came back into the shower bath. *Don't count on daily fresh towels. *Window in living room too small and unlockable. The window is in the back of the building where a lot of windows come out. A lot of noise!!! *You get the breakfast the day before and you have to 'make' it yourself. No fresh bread or croissants from a bakery (but prepackaged supermarket, no eggs, no chocolate spread). They forgot to refill the coffee and butter. When you want to ask the owners, you have to go downstairs, ring their bell and they come from the 4th floor with other stairs, not always reluctantly (we got sighs through the speaker when ringing). No personal mode of operation in general like in a b&B. *Garbage can never emptied. The smell was not agreable *An incredible amount of dust on everything; under the bed it were big flocks. I have asthma... *Tv hanging above the sofa. Room too small to relocate furniture. *Wooden floor makes a lot of noise; you hear every step your neighbours make (and especially when you book the standard room, next to you will be the room with canal view, but this room has no bathroom and toilet of its own, so they have to get past your room, really annoying!) We are quite tolerant young people, but this was too much to take in 4 days for too much money to give! Too bad I can't show any pictures here!

The location of the hotel is excellent! And the room is really nice! The bathroom facilities are not in the same level as the room itself, they are much simpler. But it was clean.

This is a Guest House managed by Ken, who is a very nice guy, always concerned with the welfare of the guests. There is a minibar in the room and a nespresso machine, with all items you need to prepare your own breakfast. There is no room service, but the the room and minibar are cleaned and refueled every day. The location is excellent and you also can take a tour in the canals with Ken's boat. The only negative point is that the room we stayed (with no canal view) had a very small window facing the inside of the building.

The superb location, right along the Amstel. The room had very little ventilation and was very warm and stuffy. We were asked to pay cash on arrival, credit card was not acepted.

The staff was very courteous and helpful. Excellent location. Room - clean, efficient and comfortable. Did not know at the time of booking that it was only a 'bed & breakfast' set up. But in the end it did not make much difference. Normal Hotel staying tourists, unless they are used to the concept of bed & breakfast, as we were, find it odd in the beginning. Would be better if it is made clear at the time of booking itself - more so for tourists like us from the eastern hemisphere.

Nice quiet location near centre of Amsterdam. Generous supplies for breakfast. Reasonable decor. Would advise to book rooms overlooking canal. The room we booked was windowless and if staying for any length of time could become quite claustrophobiac. Very steep narrow staircase to have to take heavy luggage up.

The magnificent view across the Amstel, beautifully furnished room and perfect location combined to make the holiday very memorable. Breakfast was provided in the room at our pleasure. It was plentiful and we could sit and enjoy it at our own dinning table, looking out across the canal. The leather sofa and low level bed were both very comfortable and despite being in the heart of the city it was peacefully quiet to relax on either and observe the culture. The location made it easy to reach all the main attractions on foot and the sun shone through our windows almost all the day so popping back for a coffee was a delight. The bathroom was across the landing, and a little small, having said that there was a dressing room adjacent that we could use as enhanced space, the shower was powerful and it was very clean. The Nespresso machine and kettle were also outside the room as it was a shared facility, but such a minor inconvenience considering the quality and scope of the choice available.
