It is very central, many sights are in walking distance! The Family Room is large and nicely decorated. The kitchen is also rather big and fully equipped, there's even a dishwasher! The bathroom is small but there's everything one needs, even shampoo is available. What I also liked was that it is located in a very quiet corner of the center. There are many pubs and restaurants in walking distance but none of them are too close. The free wifi was also great! And there's a Senseo coffee machine in the kitchen with complimentary coffee-pads which we used a lot. The tea selection was also great, we especially loved the Rooibos tea. We used the kitchen a lot, it is great not having to eat out all the time. Overall it was a very nice stay, I totally recommend the Amstel Canal Guest House! Best value for money!

Access to kitchen and bathroom is through a section of the corridor which is not lockable. There is a door seperating it from the main corridor though, so it isn't too bad. Another thing I did mind, though my friends didn't, was that the curtains aren't lightproof so that the street lighting shone into the room. It didn't affect my stay much since I used a sleep mask, but if light troubles your sleep too, I would recommend bringing a sleep mask as well.

Room was large enough with a sofa, large screen TV, Table, Wardrobe, HIFI speakers and full equipment to prepare coffee, tea, toasts along with cutlery in case you want to buy food and eat at the house. Room comes as well with mini fridge placed inside the Wardrobe.

Location was excellent. Room was nice and cozy with a very comfy bed. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

The bathroom was very basic.

First of all this is probably the best location to stay at in Amsterdam, reason being is because its located right in the Middle of Amsterdam. but when you are done with your dinning, partying or a night out on the town its in a nice calm neirborhood so you can rest and sleep really well. when i went there i was greeted by Ken he owns and operates this bread and Breafast i was welcomed with a nice big smile. he quickly showed me to my room and i was more than amazed it was really cleany and really roomy. he then showed me my bathroom and my kitchen which the fridge was nice and full for me and other guess. Ken really new a lot about the town and guided me in the right direction on what to do and what to watch out for. he was really knowledgable about everything happening in Amsterdam. i am really happy i went to Amstel Cannal i made the right decision and made a new friend.

Relaxed guesthouse perfect for an active stay

Amstel Canal Guest House was a brilliant choice for our weekend in Amsterdam. We were welcomed by the host, Ken, who was charming, knowledgeable, caring and polite. The room was stunning with amazing views of the canal. The room itself was beautifully decorated, a home-from-home with the right amount of practicality and luxury combined. The breakfast was nice, too. Having stayed in many "corporate" hotels before, we were delighted with the warmth and charm of this truly unique place. We would love to stay here again!

The mattress wasn't great, a thicker one would do to prevent sore backs!

The room was fantastic and it was in a very cool area. Close enough to the action to be convenient but nice and quiet as well. The papa bubble sweet shop round the corner is a must for all visitors and ken who runs the guesthouse is lovely. Breakfast facilities in the room are lovely and means you can eat at any time. Would definitely stay there again :)

More a comfortable bedsit flat than a hotel room. Very mellow and enjoyable place to stay.

We were very impressed with the helpful people- Alain and Ken. We were close to everything, there was very little noise from passers by or the canal and the time was excellent

I usually rate a hotel/hostel (also) based on the amount of "needs" (questions, requests) I have from the host - in this case there were none. All was where it was supposed to be whilst Ken was exquisitely invisible :) Very comfortable (by far the best bed - mattress - I slept on while abroad), pleasant & unexpected details, inter alia: the Philips light-mood-whatever-thingy; a decent audio system which allows for one to connect his/her MP3 player of choice - bring your own cable though; tasteful interior design, sufficient to create the feeling things were not just thrown around to "put together" a room.

superb location, my room had a canal view and that was amazing, you totally feel at home... I love this place and I most defenetly will stay again!

We loved the view of the Amstel canal and the fact that while the canal was lively with boats the neighborhood was pretty quite. The large room had a sitting area and dining area and a double bed with no gap between the mattresses. Ken was a gracious and friendly host.

There were no strong dislikes but guests should be aware that like most historic canal houses, the stairs are narrow and steep. The bath was private and well equipped but down a short common hallway. The breakfast was simple but adequate.

Great room (we had the deluxe), wonderful manager Ken, perfect location.

The barhroom was in the hall across the next room but no big deal.

Everything - perfect location, great room with the canal view, friendliness of the staff. Would strongly recommend to everyone!

The owner welcomed us with a lot of kindness and hospitality. Good value for money for this very nice guest-house, ideally placed to visit the city. We spent an excellent stay with us two children.
