the location, the staff, the surroundings, the decoration of common areas
a bit of noise from the street
Location, location, location
all the staircases!
Location was good
Again, our booking.com booking was a small room in the roof. 50 odd narrow stairs to clime and carry our bags up.
I think the good wining point for this hotel is the location. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff were really kind and accommodating.
On the first night there were bugs in my bed so I changed room. However every night I stayed in a different room which was a bot of a hassle. I also wasn't crazy about the breakfast. For the price of the whole accommodation experience I think at least the breakfast could have been nicer and richer
Great location Very good breakfast Home atmosphere Ample space for three
Steep stairs tough w luggage but seems to be trend in amsterdam. But staff offerred help.
The location is great! Breakfast was complete- meats, cheese, fruits, bread, and yogurt. Staff was helpful.
Stairs are steep, although the staff will help with luggage. Mattresses are a bit too soft.
location was excellent and the breakfast was more than adequate
Obviously the stairs which we knew about & the noise at night with people and their bikes
Good hotel in great location. Old Amsterdam houses so steep stairs. Our room at back so no view but good size and very quiet. Shower good power! Breakfast room on corner overlooking canals great place to start the day. Good self service breakfast. High standard of products with fresh fruit a bonus.
No hooks on the backs of doors in the bath room
Good location Excellent staff Nice room
Unfortunately I got bedbug bites. A few on my hand and up my arm the first night. Across my neck and back the next night. I did let the staff know. I know it has nothing to do with cleanliness, so gave it a good for cleanliness.
Location and sense of privacy. It has character
Lack of towel bars in bath room or even hooks. Staff was helpful but just.
Helpful staff, good location, free hot drinks, good breakfast. My Canadian niece loved all the quirky objects & we loved the dog.
No fridge in room. They weren't able to provide gluten free bread but we found it in the supermarket in next road.
Charming and helpful staff. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Two flights of stairs.
Noisy steep stairs poor continental breakfast cramped quarters
Great breakfast, comfortable, excellent price, and located near good restaurants and tourist sites.
Large shop front windows in the breakfast room give unrivalled view of the canal and surrounding streets. Breakfasters can enjoy people watching and the multitude of cyclists crossing the nearby canal bridge for as long as they wish! The hotel is beautifully furnished with traditional old style and comfortable furniture.
It was as I expected: a small room, fourth floor walk up, for a good price. Clean except for mold in the bathroom caulking. Excellent canal view.
Average hotel breakfast. WiFi worked one day out of three.
Fantastic location. Lovely bathroom. Nice breakfast. Charming hotel with very friendly staff in original canal house filled with lovely antiques.
Fire escape light shone in the window. Curtains kept the light out but made the room a little warm.
The location as I always get a canal view room. I've been staying here for most of my many visits to Amsterdam over the last 10 years and have always felt welcomed - plus, it's usually quiet at night. I also enjoy watching the morning bicycle commuters from the breakfast room. Glad I found it.
No elevator. A trick I learned this trip - count the flights not the stairs. Makes it easier.
Helpful staff. Loved the decor... beautiful painting and antique furniture. Great atmosphere. Lovely breakfast room with view of the canals. Nice selection for breakfast ... fruit, eggs, meat and yogurt .... good coffee with cream. Nice buffet presentation. Added bonus of dog named Tasmania lives there! Best dog ever.
Would recommend this hotel for location.
Shower in our room had very little pressure. Breakfast was adequate but there was very little fresh fruit, canned peaches for your cereal. No lift and the stairs are very steep.
Location Breakfast Friendly Staff
Not being able to make tea or coffee in your own room. Tea and coffee was available downstairs but given in paper cups.
Position giving easy access to both the city centre and the major galleries. Cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
Very steep and narrow stairs, I was on the third floor which, after a day of walking around the galleries, made returning to the room a major physical challenge . Beds were soft whereas I like a firm mattress
