Great location to explore Amsterdam and very friendly and helpful staff. Be sure to ask about the gold record framed behind the reception desk :)
staff and location
sometimes the stairs
location, cleanliness, comfort
noise from outside (no isolation)
Location, view, approachable and very helpful staff, the dog!
Smell of the bathroom.
Really excellent family run hotel, very attentive and friendly to guests and excellent location. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality, setting you up well for a days walking of the canals and bars / sights of Mokum... Treat yourself to a stay at the Wiechmann !
Nothing really, although a little disappointed not to get a canal view and the stairs really are steep, especially if you get the top floor. This is however the norm in Amsterdam and you are warned - if its a problem find somewhere with a lift.
Location, very friendly helpful Staff. Food very good. Service excellent. Charming décor, a really great traditional Hotel. Can't wait to go back!
Very steep, narrow stairs for SOME people, (OK for us)although helpful Staff did offer to carry luggage up the stairs, if help was required.
We arrived way earlier than the check-out time: no problem, please lesve your luggage here and you can use that toilette there... Later it was raining and they have a beautiful living room open for guests. Felt like home while it was pouring out there. Breakfast served in a noce corner dining room, where you can see Amsterdamers going to work... Really nice and warm!
Staff, room, and location.
Steep narrow stairs
The room was very clean and quiet at night, our last trip was ruined by no sleep due to noise not so here! we had a canal view and it was excellent
The standard Amsterdam stairs but its the same in all of the original Dam style buildings, so no worries really
Near to all amenities and places of interest. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Single room for what it cost was very basic and small. Also very hot and stuffy.
The location was perfect. Loved the breakfast room with its sunny view of the people parade. The stairs were steep but preserved the character of this unforgetable hotel. Would stay again in a heartbeat
30 degrees days i was there and air con didnt work
This is a wondreful address for all vintage lovers. People are Super Friendly, breakfast is ok and the Location is axcellent! We went there with my grandmother and People where Super caring in contact with her. We would recomment it!
The adjoin rooms for a family with young children. The great location near to everything.
The noisy street outside at night.
Location was very good in historic area and we could walk everywhere we wanted to visit, also near many restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room clean and beds comfortable. Furnishing and ornaments etc. very characterful!
Knew the stairs would be steep but didn't realise how steep! It was difficult to get luggage up and down perhaps staff should be more willing to offer help especially for those of more mature years. Fridge would have been welcome and also tea making facilities. Our room was stuffy and hot.
Reasonably well located.
Very expensive for what it is. The night staff act as if they really don't want to be there, although the day staff are friendly and helpful. Be aware that it's in an old Amsterdam house, so no lift and lots of stairs. We had to drag our heavy suitcases up to the 3rd floor.
Location above all. Breakfast room is a treat. Staff can be really helpful.
I do not mind the presence of dogs in reception area but I do not like their smell. More should be invested in improving it. Candles, incense, room diffusers or washing the dogs more frequently I am sure would help. The stairs are very steep and I think that can be difficult for older people or anybody with a mobility problem.
we asked for a low ground room because i have PD, and also payed for a canal view.... we got the most amazing room. The staff were always friendly and helpful, the breakfast was lovely.... What a great place, hope to go back oneday!
we loved everything!!!!!!
Staff are very nice!
No water heater machine.
Fantastic views over the canals - worht it just for this alone. Very good-size room, Breakfast is good enough. 24hr reception is great and unexpected for this type of hotel. Umbrellas available for use. Helpful staff. Taxi to/from airport arranged through hotel is way cheaper than taxi off a stand.
No air-conditioning and no list - but this is to be expected in this type of hotel. No rooms on the ground floor and the stairs are steep, but this is typical of a canal-side hotel
Really liked my canal side room and view, and the breakfast area is very nice and open. The panoramic window view is outstanding. The staff was friendly and efficient. All this while maintaining a very laid back and casual atmosphere, which enhanced my Amsterdam experience!
Staff were very friendly and helpful. A member of our party left a phone in a taxi on the way to the station on departure. The staff kindly located this and forwarded it.
The hotel overlooks the canal where in the evening party boats go noisily up and down until the early hours We paid the supplement for a canal view and the room although facing the canal was 3 floors up and the windows nothing like the room advertised
Location. The effort to diminish the noise of deliveries early in the morning. I was in a front room and can be very noise.
The smell of the dogs at the reception. They should be washed more frequently. Staff procedure not constant. Some friendly and efficient others not. Difficult stairs should be clear to guest when booking.
The staff at the hotel were absolutely wonderful and the location was perfect.
I suppose you could characterize the ambiance as funky, but I expected something more for $200 a night.
Location Nice "family feel" Breakfast was limited, but delicious Comfy bed Free wifi
Those 36 stairs to the second floor! At some point soon the decor will need brightening up
