- Convenient to art galleries and one area of restaurant bars
- Overall, POOR value for the price! Would not recommend or stay again. - Accomodations (building/lobby, room, bed, linens, carpet) were run-down and worn, clean, but not clean-looking. No amenities (drink machine, toothbrush/paste, etc, iron) - Phone did not work. Informed staff and they hardly acknowledged. - WiFi IS A JOKE. Was able to connect in the lobby only, intermittently. This coupled with the fact our room did not have a working phone and we couldn't communicate with our friends via WiFi, it was extremely inconvenient. - Shower is the only aspect that I would say was actually DIRTY. Bring flip-flops!!
Staff were great. Tidy rooms. Bit far from central station apart from that perfect !!
Location only put off
Good location and price. Clean rooms.
The hotel applied + 4% for credit card payment to our reservation when check-in; however, this information was not mentioned in booking.com info page. I asked not to pay this extra to the receptionist as this was not mentioned before; she was refused and applied extra +4% to total reservation cost.
location is good
no lift, stairs is so steep, shower is smelly
Even the key of the room did not work properly and only trying so many times, I was able to lock the door every time I needed to. The receptionists often appeared to be in a bad mood and it seemed that they got irritated easily. Wifi connection was poor.
-location is perfect, 2 min away to museums, vondelpark and leidsplein
-there is no mirror in our room, we had to use shared bathroom to make and dress up
Price, Wi-Fi, Location, Reception works 24hours/day.
Location is very good, we had a great view of Rijksmuseum from our window. Quite clean
Stairs - epic fail. If you stay on the 2nd or 1st floor it's manageable but we had to carry our suitcases to the 4th. I am very familiar with the stairs issue in Amsterdam but here it was way too much. The staff was weird not really eager to help.
WIFI reception of the room at basement not good
location is very good. Near Leidseplein and Rijksmuseum
As many other Hotels in amsterdam, Art Gallery Hotel is way overpriced. Don't trust the pictures on the website- it is way more basic then it looks like, windows don't close, bathroom is very basic too.
*Location - near Rijks Museum *Value
*Room was a bit too small tho we were given one on the ground floor *At first the bathroom was a bit smelly but once aired that was fine *Parking: difficult to stop outside to unload and to find parking for long term stay
The location is great, very near restaurants, clubs, and trams
The room was tiny, 7 ft by 10 ft. The wifi didn't work and the staff was not able to help
Location is good.
If you have luggage, then please skip this hotel. The stairs are rather called vert steep laddle. Very unpleasant. If traveling by car, then its impossible to get parking!
great locale, easy to get to/from by tram or cab. near museums, heineken tours & live music bars
4 flights up steep & narrow staircase, no lifts. didn't bother me too much, as I pack light. but may be a prob for others.
The steep stairs are a problem as extra care is needed to avoid a fall.
Location by museums and really friendly cleaning people.
It was like paying for a nice hotel and getting a hostel
Hotel Was In Good Location and was easy to locate once we arrived in the museum district!
nice staff great location
tiny tiny room on a interior shaft bathroom flooded no hooks in bathroom only 2 plugs had to ask for glasses, worn out sheets, poorlu made beds stained furniture
The place was highly expensive, but we reserved it because of the really good location. Getting into the room we got a shock. The room was very dirty and stinky. The bathroom was in a horrible condition, and the wifi did not work at all. We could not stay in even if we paid the weekend already. Just wanted to leave immediatley. Stay away from this place!
Price. Small bedroom. Shared bathroom. No view from the sloping ceiling velux window.
The location and the offer to keep the bags after checkout since checkout is at 11Am so we were able to get breakfast and adventure before getting the car, very very convenient.
The room smelled when we entered, but once the windows were open for a bit it went away. The carpet was a bit dirty and the bathroom as well. But for convenience of location, and it is a bed and bathroom, this hotel is recommended.
Perfect accommodation for the adventurers, providing a cosy bed and a clean toilet! The view was mesmerising from the top floor, peering onto the spectacular city museum and close enough to hear the magical museum bells. The typical Dutch stairs were quite steep with luggage, but part of the charm.
Personally perfect for our retreat, as we spent little time in the hotel. Yet, the hotel was a stone throw from major sights and surrounded by restaurants and charm. For those who enjoy the luxuries of a hotel break, the joining accommodation where I stayed may not be adequate. But, the actual hotel area also looked lovely from a glimpse. Highly recommend for those who opt for adventure opposed to luxury.
very poor internet. in all areas.
Location is perfect to museum lovers, very close to the Museum Platz. You can reach Reihsmuseum and Van Gogh Museum early in the morning to avoid crazy lines in th entrance
Shared toilet and shower, not really clean, cold rooms, very narrow and steep stairs. Noisy and cmall rooms.
The reception crew are great. The rooms are renovated and looks good. Shared bathroom is only for 3 rooms so you .almost don't feel it is shared
Internet is not working 95% of the time. Rooms and showers a little bit dirty. It seems like no one cleaned the rug for many years. 50% of the time there was not toilet paper in the toilets. They didn't replace the towels for 3 days (!) although the cleaner was in the room (and all he did was to make the bed). If they would try a little bit more it could be a great place.
