The famous Vondelpark functions as a backyard garden to Hotel City Garden, which is on the fancy P.C. Hooftstraat shopping street. It offers rooms with street or park views.

Great location, close proximity to nice large park, working elevator.
No parking, pillows could be a bit fluffier, more selections for their breakfast.
The woman at reception was not welcoming.I was given a basement floor room which had little light. This coupled with outdated dark furniture made this room very dreary. There was constant noise from staff as they washed linen in a closet right outside my door,
Location, just around the corner from Vondelpark, and few minutes from Museumplein Has a certain warmth and feeling of tucked in Nice view
Our room was very very small Lack of refrigerator in the room You have to pay additionally for the breakfast
If someone in the room next to you showers, this makes too much noise to sleep in
service - front desk the room was small, old and smelly, hot and full of mosquitos the way to cool was an electric fan that was hidden in the cabinet too expensive for the quality. my wife took my 9 year old son as surprise, i had allready booked the room for two, try to pay an extra bed, but that room was too small for it, and they charge plus 35€ for the "extra bed" that didn´t exist, the boy slept with us, and couldn´t cancel, otherwise i would lost my money.
- location - good bed (particularly in the room we stayed (#118) - quiet room
- they do not answer on direct letters, only via booking.com - quality of room-cleaning is not very good
Good location and easy to go to important places. Very comfortable and the staff is friendly. I would like to come back soon and I highly recommended to my friends
Perfect location, easily accessible, exactly what we wanted for our long weekend.
Pretty building Near tram, park, restaurants, museums Had bicycles to rent Helpful front desk staff
Small room Musty smell, coffee area in room wasn't clean TV didn't work
we asked for a twin room and were given a double and as there was no manager around to explain to ,we were not happy all else was good mr frank stander
The location was in a nice area - near the Tram stop #2 near nice restaurants & the Park. Walking distance to Van Gogh Museum & parks.
the breakfast was o.k. the WIFI was not reliable and the room was crowded and small. The bathroom was nice. No AC to control and I didnt feel comfortable sleeping with the windows open as we were below ground. One morning the owner (or worker) was grumpy and rude. Bring Euros because they expect cash to pay for the taxes on the hotel stay & if you need a cab to the airport you need to pay cash.
the location is near tram line 2
the room for 2 was in the underground floor, no effective light
Good location on edge of major park and the museums. The staff were good but issues raised appeared to be palmed off by management back with no action on issued raised.
A number issues. Room. Hairdryer not working, loan from office of a hairdryer held together with tape. Power point in bathroom ganging and faulty even sparking dangerously. Bathroom tap unable to be turned off completely. Wifi not working at any stage in the room or lobby or halls in a 5 day stay. Fan in bathroom turned itself on at all hours. Other. Breakfast average and with a tiny breakfast room that all guest had to squeeze into. Be aware When booking, this hotel extracts your money immediately and has the use of the funds until you arrive. In our case over 2 months. In the 50 days we travelled through out north eastern europe this is the only hotel that extracted the money prior to arrival. Shortly after booking we had a small change of plans and requested our booking be adjusted to one day back and leave one day earlier. They had vacancies and the money was exactly the same so no loss to the hotel. A number of Emails to the hotel were ignored And finally we went through booking.com and they represented us. They were told a definate no and that the last day when we were not in Amsterdam would not be refunded. There was no fexibility at all. On arrival At our request staff raised the issue again with management and it was again refused even though thier cancellation policy did not cover our circumstances. Greedy would be the initial thought. I hope they did not double dip on that night? Booking .com tried but I suggest they review thier dealings with this hotel. I base this on our experience and the comment in previous reviews, including issues with 6 percent on credit cards, withdrawing money immediately on booking and lack of flexibility.
very quiet convenient to museums location
cramped room musty smell in hallway
Location close to park
Not that friendly
Location was great. On a main tramline into the center (10mins). Clean and comfortable. Pre-ordered taxi back to the airport was €35 which was very reasonable. Lovely park behind hotel
Charged 6% extra for payment by debit card, not credit card, debit card! This was not mentioned on Booking.com (although i'm sure you will argue it is stated in a clause in the fine print)! I just wish booking.com would show all charges on the final payment screen! Also not shown was the €14 city tax! So, my issues are not with the hotel, but with Booking.com.......again!!
Quite quiet. Located in a nice area away from the tourist trail but within easy access of the main sights.
Having to pay cash. Room was a bit hot and stuffy.
Great location by the park and museums.
Have you ever walked into a hotel and were struck by the number of rules and overall feeling that you were doing them a favor to be there? That is the vibe here. From charging 1,00 for a city map (when the hotel down the street helped us find it and handed us a map for free) to a $20 room key deposit. The place does not have a big heart. The Rooms are fine.
Staff friendly and helpful. Nicely located in a pleasant area and with easy reach of most places. Close to tram number 2 which is very useful and also quite close to bus 197 to and from Schipol airport.
Room a little on the small side and below ground location meant we were awoken very early as staff were setting up dining area but not a massive problem. wifi intermittent and hard to access.
The position is great: 5 min walk from the Museumplein, and 30 seconds to the tram. Furthermore, the beautiful Vondelpark and the neighborhood are really charming. The room decoration was quite cozy.
We were at the lower floor (garden level), and the crackling noise from the room above was quite annoying. The hotel provides only one towel for each guest.
I loved the cleanliness of the property and room. I loved the location of the property as well. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and in close proximity to the tram stop that will take you anywhere.
Location is good. Not right in the city center but an easy tram ride. The bus stop for the express bus to the airport is a short walk away.
When we arrived, there was a hesitation on recognizing our reservation. I immediately handed a copy of it and was then told they had had a water pipe break and we would have to stay the first night at a different hotel. We had to walk to a different place and when we arrived were told we were an overbooking at the Atlas Hotel. We then inquired about our included breakfast. They phoned the Atlas and then told us we couldn't have theirs and would have to pack up in the morning and walk over to the Atlas to have their breakfast. We had a very short time in Amsterdam, only two days and to have to unpack, pack, walk over to a different place twice, was time consuming. The breakfast area is very tight.
More than one towell would be nice
Located in the nicest area of town, very helpful staff, bike rental available. It's the third time I enjoy this hotel and will go back again in future.
OK hotel, right next to vondelpark and with a clean and comfortable room. I stayed in a room in the ground floor right next to the room where they do all the hotel laundry, so I got some occasional door slamming and noise but nothing big.
They charged me 3 euros for storing my luggage for a couple of hours after I checked out (which I consider absurd just as a matter of principle). Also, beware that they'll slap extra 6% to the announced room price if you pay with a credit card.
