Hotel Toon is located in the city centre of Amsterdam amidst Utrechtsestraat, known for its boutiques and restaurants, and around the corner from Rembrandtplein.
Score from 216 reviews Excellent
nice welcome email, helpful staff, central location, relaxed atmosphere, excellent free mini bar with good bottle of wine and beers, robes, large bathroom, comfy bed, nice breakfast around the corner
no sign outside so was a little perplexed if at right destination, very steep stairs so beware if on top floor and rickety knees, bathroom across the corridor so not ensuite and was a little - though not really disturbingly- noisy. But hey you are in the middle of Amsterdam!
Breakfast was lovely - fresh orange juice, pancakes, croissants or the whole shebang, plus the best coffee (local roaster) of my 6 weeks of travel. Beautifully renovated canal house complete with super-narrow stairway. No lift so make sure you can manage the stairs - they will gladly help with bags. Located on a corner in a nice part of old town on the canal. The bed was superb!
Doona was too hot. No doona was too cold.
I loved the decor and the modernization of the B&B. Old school on the outside but very hip on the inside. Awesome shower, must be because the Dutch are so tall, but I actually fit underneath the shower head! All was updated and had cable, plus Ralph Lauren bed spread. They even had free WiFi and the Mini-Bar was completely free! They even gave you a free bottle of wine! The cafe it has was great, recommend the Dutch pancakes, and was right across the street from a great market. The Waldorf Astoria was across the street, so it was basically like staying and on the canal there but half the price. Definitely recommend.
They don't have a reception so it wasn't easy to check in. They sent me an email about going to the café to check in however, I didn't understand it. No one answered the phone when I called (ten times) and I was waiting outside of the hotel for 45 min. So if you are in a hurry, probably not the best. They did apologize and give me a free lunch, however, I just wanted to sleep after a ten hour flight. To check out you have to drop off the key at the café which opens at 8, so if you are planning on an early morning flight, probably not the best place to stay.
Warm welcome. The service could not be better than this. Great rooms and atmosphere. Perfect for romance.
Noise from the street outside.
The breakfast was good. But they did not tell me
I was hardly sleep as it was noisy outside. This was so bad that I had an important meeting at those days. I asked several times to send me invoice, but they still did not do that.
Fantastic breakfast--extremely nice staff. Very personal service and very accomodating. They gave me a free welcome drink and carried my luggage. Great location. I wanted to be downtown but not in the heart of party madness. The Utrechtstraat had great shops and restaurants and is right in front of the Toon restaurant where you get breakfast. Also complimentary sodas. Great place--super clean and very bright rooms with high ceilings.
Stairwell was a bit tight. But that is about all i can think of.
Location, staff, breakfast, free mini bar, coffee shop round the corner
Bathroom outside the room, dangerous stairs (especially when you are in "good" condition)
Accommodation is very conveniently located and the owners and staff are friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well appointed, bathroom was unexpectedly across the hallway, but immaculate with bath and rainfall shower. Breakfast (excellent!) served in the owners' café around the corner.
Non-descript looking building a bit unwelcoming, and steep staircase up to rooms. Relatively expensive, but much cheaper than the Waldorf Astoria directly opposite, so no complaint!
Authenticity of the property. Fabulous bathroom and very comfortable beds.
A bit stuffy. Overly hot at night and potentially noisy if you opened the window. Fan was noisy too. Stairs are lethal so you need to be fit and pay attention.
- the location ist great as everything is within walking distance!!! - the view on the chanel - hotel facility is great - very nice bathroom and very comfortable bed - free tee 24h
- it was hard to catch someone at the reception - the steps are very very steap! it was not a problem for us but for some people might be
Great Breakfast Very friendly helpful staff
Excellent location, amazing breakfast, spacious room on 1st floor, views of canal, mini bar
bathroom not en suite, tea and coffee facilities not in room BUT mini bar provided
No elevator in the hotel
-great location and view from the room; very friendly, kind and helpful staff -I love their fresh orange juice and mint tea
maybe I'm sensitive to sound, I heard much noise from the bathroom downstair and from the street during the night
not loud, wonderful location, central, good sleeping, breakfast in cafe nearby,
more variation of breakfast, but only if you last more than one week ;)
The greeting was first class Breakfast was first class Support with return airline boarding tickets What to se Bike route suggested Location and view in the area
Perfect location, cheerful and helpful staff
You have to be prepared to climb stairs!
Very spacious rooms, lovely view of the canals, great location, wonderful free minibar and great food.
Be careful of the stairs - very narrow steps.
Excellent place, perfect location! Amazing view on the canal. Staff is beyond helpful and friendly. Best in Amsterdam! Will definitely return. Highly highly recommended!
Bathroom outside the room and requires crossing the dtaircase, although its private. Staircase extremely steep and requires good shape and small suitcase. Breakfast is super good and the whole saff loveble.
Nice location, canal view and close to Rembrandtplein. Comfortable room, free minibar, warm and friendly staff.
Bath/wash are not in the room, but across the hall, so a bit inconvenient.
Near the tram station, friendly staff, nice room~
Excellent location. Perfect breakfast.
You cannot better the location but if you moved 100 metres to another property it would be a lot cheaper, they are charging a premium for the location.
When we arrived at 3.30pm the room was not ready and we were invited to have a coffee at the local Cafe that the owners own, this is also the place you get breakfast, not bad you may think but I ended up paying for the coffee!!!!!! Third night the room and bathroom had not been made up and there were no towels we went to the Cafe and the young Lady was very apologetic and said she would sort this out,she invited us for a drink but I had already fallen for that once and was not getting conned again. The room was never cleaned properly the glasses were not washed.Every day we were woken by builders at 7.00 am running up and down the building and we had to avoid a stack of wood and plasterboard stacked along the very narrow stairway,If I had known this I would not have booked this property,we only ever spoke to the young lady in the cafe, we never met the owners who appear to get this poor girl running around trying to do everything and achieving very little.
Very homely. The staff were amazing. It is a family run business and the brother/sister owners were just fantastic. The location is great and offers most things at a walking distance.
