Free WiFi. Warning! This place is a horrid. It ruinined our trip. First they said we dont accept card (main reason for choosing) then I had to pay to withdraw money on my credit card, staff were very rude and shared toilet did not lock! The to top it off they blocked our key cards everyday! So we had to keep getting them activated.

The hotel desk staff was friendly and accommodating, giving helpful information for transportation and local dining. Were will to address noisy floor neighbours. The location is good and very close to tram stop and a Hop on Hop off stop. Several attractions in the Holland Pass are located nearby - Portugese Synagogue, Artis Zoo and the Hortus. The hotel is very tired looking. Everything looked as though it needed a good scrubbing and some bleach, a fresh coat of paint and carpets cleaned. Our bed was broken and repaired and squeaked every time we rolled over. Sheets were never changed, pillows skimpy and towels few. The bar and seating lounge, adjacent to the hotel desk, was unavailable to guests which is important because the wifi works best in the lobby. The shared bathroom was dirty-looking with blackened grout on the floor tiles, the sink didn't work and there were numerous cracked and broken tiles in the shower. This could be such a lovely little hotel overlooking a pictureque canal in a quiet part of centre Amsterdam with just a little bit of effort.

There was very little to like. The room was spartan, there were 3 flights of narrow stairs with no lift. The credit card pay facility was out of order - so I had to take out cash to pay.

As everything went quite wrong the only positive aspect was a clean room and bathroom Wireless connection not working at 2.floor - service forget to clean the room or to leave cleaned towels in the room. Self machine for drinks were not offering water. On reservation was written about possibility to ask for breakfast but this hotel Does not offer this service

The members of the staff were really rude; services like breakfast and payment by cards advertised on the web were not available. The room was really poor for the price.

There is nothing good about this hotel. I would recommend removing it from booking.coms list of hotels. The linens and bathroom were clean. Free wireless internet. At check in the hotel staff required cash. One of the windows would not shut. The room was located directly above the bar. Music blared until 3 AM and cigarette smoke filled the non smoking room. The TV was missing from the room and the only piece of furniture in the room besides the beds was about to topple over.

this hotel was nice and simple.. staff where really nice and helped me out. The hotel is about a 20 min walk from the city centre which was awesome! the rooms where clean and tidy and suited our needs. The hotel has free wireless internet and the tv in the rooms worked fine. The only bad thing i can say about this hotel is that the toilet door on our floor didn't lock which was abit of a pain for getting showers ect. so we just went to another floor and used that shower so we could lock the door.

Barbacan was located in a very quiet neighborhood, close to the tram line and parks. The hotel was narrow and cramped, granted it is Amsterdam, but this was pretty tight quarters. The wifi did not extend to my room as advertised and there was really no place to hang out outside the room. The made a cheesy bar downstairs that is really quite a joke.

Stayed here with 7 other women for a 30th birthday weekend away. We all stayed in the double ensuite rooms . The rooms are compact but neat and tidy, price and location was good. Would recommend for budget hotel option.

Tho location is the only advantage of this hotel. You can walk until the main touristic point (near central station) in about 20 minutes. If you don't like walk there are 02 excellent tram lines. 09 which go to central station and 10 which go to museum area (Anne frank, van gogh, laindsplain). Was easy deslocate from there. 1) Wifi: the signal don't went to my room. And the reception lady said she can't do anything!!!!! I had to down to reception to use. But reception close at 01 am, and I was banished on this times. Fail!!! 2) BREAKFAST: when I'm downstairs to get my coffe, SURPRISE! They don't have breakfast since 8months ago. But I'm payed for this. FAIL! 3) SHARED BATH: was the worst experience in my life 4) VEEEERY THIN WALL: u can hear the breath on the room at side. It's awful! If u want a minimum comfort on your trip, AVOID!!!
