Bastion Deluxe Hotel Amsterdam / Centrum - Noord  

Quite, nice, friendly

The main selling point for us was the free parking as we were driving from the UK. We'd stayed in some other hotels such as the QBic but the cost of the parking was sky high. Free parking at the Bastion! It's a fairly basic hotel but it's clean and the staff were good. We didn't bother with the breakfast so I don't know what that was like. It's an easy trip into central station. Took about 10 minutes on the bus (number 33) which stops 2 mins from the hotel. If you are looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel this place isn't it. If you are looking for a decent place to get a few nights sleep and travel into Amsterdam whilst keeping your vehicle at the hotel for free then this is definitely the place for you.

Only minor complaint was that we'd asked for a smoking room but got a non smoking room. Weren't too bothered, they have a smoking room in the hotel but we weren't too sure what we were allowed to smoke in there. ;-)

I booked 3 rooms via Booking.com and the Hotel charged my Credit card before i arrived, therefore i had to pay for my colleagues rooms and the receptionist said this was normal practise. The Hotel charged me for 6 breakfasts 2 per room as a mandatory rule of the hotel and i didnt see this on the invoice till the next day when i had left the Hotel. I still have not been credited back for 3 of the breakfasts at a cost of 13.50 per breakfast. I have booked with Booking.com all my hotels when traveling for many years and many destinations, this is the 1st time ever where i have had a problem with Hotels charging before you arrive and for food you and your colleagues have never had. The hotel was recommended by our Dutch company who are based near to the Bastion, i have advised them that i wont recommend this hotel to anyone due to their "get the money quick" regime.

Free parking is the only behefit. Also it is possible to reach the city centre by foot. It takes around 25 min. In 10 min walk opposite the city centre direction there is a shopping centre. There is a japanese restaurant allucaneat just at place.

The hotel is far away from the city center, but it was ok for the price.

There was no hairdryer in the bathroom, and sometimes you can fell a strange odor coming from the toilete.

The staff was extremely helpful and helped us with great satisfaction in all of our requests. Furthermore, the breakfast was expensive, but diverse and delicious! A supermarket and a sushi-restaurant were also located within walking-disctance.

The room had ants in it, the beds were very uncomfortable. This was to be a romantic weekend getaway and they only had rooms with 2 single beds. They claimed to have free wireless internet but it was out of range in our room. The staff tried to charge us 89.00 more Euro upon checkout and then got physically angry when we told them we will not pay for anything over what we already booked. This was an overall terrible experience. I will never stay in this hotel chain again.

Availability during peak times in summer , location is quite but somewhat away from the "spirit" of the centre area, cheap compared to other options available at the time of booking, decent room , free wi fi , free parking, safety (across from Police station ) very close to bus station

Smells like a bar in the room, room not very clean, expensive breakfast, restaurant staff was short and somewhat careless, no things to do in the lobby, rated 4 stars but more like a 2 star hotel,

It is in a nice area, near the city centre.

The breakfast was not included in the rate.

The hotel has all the basic facilities. Room is spacious enough. We stayed there for only 1 night so didn't really need much. It is located just 10m away (by bus) from Amsterdam city centre. Buses come rather regularly on the weekend (we never had to wait for more than 5m). It has free parking right in front of the hotel.

The room had a strange smell. There was a bit of dust all over the room as if it had not been cleaned for a couple of days.

13 Euro for breakfast seems to be too expensive
