Bastion Deluxe Hotel Amsterdam / Centrum - Noord  

Best value for money in Amsterdam. Although it looks someway out of the city, it's 5 minutes by car/taxi and approx 10 minutes by bus. We have now stayed twice and both visits were ok.

Very clean and easy to get to. If you are going to visit Amsterdam, but would like to stay somewhere comfortable but not too expensive then this is the place to stay. Bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you straight into town in 10 minutes. Purchase a 48hr travel pass for about 15 Euros.

Parking

The staff was extremely helpful and helped us with great satisfaction in all of our requests. Furthermore, the breakfast was expensive, but diverse and delicious! A supermarket and a sushi-restaurant were also located within walking-disctance.

Nice warm reception, bar and restaurant and all close together. The hotel offers a nice bar and a smoking room close to it...so you don't have to smoke out in the cold. It also offers.... Smoking rooms!!!! I was hesitating cause I thought they would smell bad.... But they did not smell. Also the size of the room is ok (but we had the big one) what if you get the small one?

I did not like the fact that it looks like a motel. I did not like the fact that our room was in the first floor and we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs and that I had not been advised in advance. I had to leave many of our heavy luggage in the car. I did not like the fact that in the room there is no place to put my suitcase like a bench or something and I have to leave it on the floor. The worst thing is the distance from the city. Ok the bus stop is just a few steps away and you go to the city very fast. But what about getting back. Or what about going to another part of the city. The bus takes you to central station and the red light district but if you want to go other place like museums etc. it is very far away to walk all the way back. At the reception we were advised that to return from the city was very easy - just call for a tca taxi - and charge should be around 15 euros and not more - oh we had a terrible time looking for a taxi at 2.00 am - there was a raw full of taxis - different sizes and colours none from tca and drivers all out of their cars would bargain like we were in a bazzar - from 35,00 to 28,00 euros (that was the best offer we took) - but before I called tca as I prefered to use a company taxi. How do I know these people are real taxi drivers ? There is no sign of any company or licence and they do not have a meter in the car .....just a led light saying taxi. Anyway the lady in tca was very rude, was laughing with me and said she did not understand me (was she stoned or she did not speak english? Probably both) and she suggested to take any taxi from the Leidsplein stand. I said that I want to take a tca taxi and that there is no tca in the stand and she still laughed. What is funny about that????

The word "Centrum" in the name is somewhat misleading - the hotel is a 30 euro taxi ride away from central station.

Room was a good size and the facilities were good. Staff were helpful

The room had ants in it, the beds were very uncomfortable. This was to be a romantic weekend getaway and they only had rooms with 2 single beds. They claimed to have free wireless internet but it was out of range in our room. The staff tried to charge us 89.00 more Euro upon checkout and then got physically angry when we told them we will not pay for anything over what we already booked. This was an overall terrible experience. I will never stay in this hotel chain again.

When booking all taxes were included in the final price. When check-out I had to pay more (city-tax). Breakfast was not included in the price, but It was not mentioned before booking.

Availability during peak times in summer , location is quite but somewhat away from the "spirit" of the centre area, cheap compared to other options available at the time of booking, decent room , free wi fi , free parking, safety (across from Police station ) very close to bus station

Smells like a bar in the room, room not very clean, expensive breakfast, restaurant staff was short and somewhat careless, no things to do in the lobby, rated 4 stars but more like a 2 star hotel,

It is in a nice area, near the city centre.

The breakfast was not included in the rate.

Easy access to the centre of Amsterdam as bus right outside.

Basic hotel. The bar was to stay open until 1 o' clock but we were unable to get a drink when we returned before 12 both nights of our stay. Stayed in a standard roomwhich was very small. Maybe a de luxe room would be different.
