Located in the heart of Haarlem, on one the most popular shopping streets, the Bed & Breakfast Hotel Malts a typical Dutch breakfast.
Score from 505 reviews Wonderful
Good service, many amenities, tasty breakfast. Excellent location in city centre.
Bed was a bit hard
Great breakfast. Plenty to eat and drink. Great value for money
- room with a view - clean - facilities - very friendly staff - good breakfast - cosy
- there was a hole in our sheets, needs to be thrown away - tv didn't work but that was okay, there was a big event on the square were we came for, so enough to see :)
The eye for detail. The breakfast. The location. The shower.
All the staff went that extra mile to make us feel welcomed. The breakfast was relaxed and good value. The cleanliness of the room was outstanding.
Sadly one one night there was a lot of noise in the square . The ear plugs were appreciated but of Iittle use. However, not the fault of L'Anders!
Fantastisch location at the big market square.Sometimes a bit noisy, but didn't bother me,as I Am a good sleeper.Breakfast served in their brasserie, something to look forward to everyday.Service very friendly, fantastic view ,I will return.
My room overlooked the market place which I loved. I had read other previews which stated it had been noisy but I stayed on a Sunday and Monday night and had no problems. Really nice owners and I had a lovely breakfast.
The stairs were very steep and I would not recommend this for elderly people.
Staff was friendly. The room at the street side was very nice. Location was good.
The budget room smells because the kitchen drain, you can't open a window because of that. Small with only a view at a wall. Street view room is noisy ( no dubble glassed window )when street is busier. You can hear a lot of things in the B&B, take earplugs. Blower in bathroom makes a noise for a long time, can't flush during night because of that.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They helped bring our luggage up and down the rather historically, typical steep Dutch stairs. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with a great view over the square. It is located conveniently close to the rail station and centrally to the museums, great shops, bars restaurants and cafes.
Having coffee making facilities on the top floor would have been nice. Although not by any means far to go, the stairs can be tricky to manage (especially with a hot drink) for those not used to the extremely steep Dutch stairs and certainly not recommended for people with any mobility issues. For us, the stairs added to the charm and we found them to be amusing to navigate.
Lovely, cosy room
A lot of noise at night, as the location is in the middle of the centre with a lot of bars around.
Haarlem is a lovely town, much more relaxed than Amsterdam itself and well worth a visit. L'Anders is a really nice place - we ate here on our first night and the food was excellent, as was the service, with a nice relaxed vibe. Breakfast was included and also very good. Room was fairly basic but fine, spotless, and the stairs make life interesting (some care required!).
We had a room facing the town square and the view was great - however we were staying friday and saturday and the good people of Haarlem evidently like to stay up late at weekends (later than us anyway) and be pretty lively into the small hours. The weather was good so there were people out and about, plus we wanted the windows open as it was warm - but it did mean not very peaceful nights. Not really L'Anders' fault, and they do provide earplugs!
The bed and breakfast is on the main square, a short walk from the train station. I was able to leave my luggage while I did a little sightseeing, and was also able to check in early. The stairs to the second floor were steep, but they carried up my luggage. The rooms are above the small restaurant; the free breakfast was excellent, and I also had a delicious lunch there.
Room was nicely decorated and spacious, with a very comfortable and large bed. The location is great. The breakfast (especially the freshly squeezed orange juice and the yogurt parfait) was delicious. Friendly and very helpful staff. Will definitely book here again.
Nothing. Just a heads up for others - could be noisy if you had to keep the windows open. Wasn't loud enough to bother me (I had a room that faced the back), and I am a very light sleeper.
The hosts were extremely welcoming and thoughtful, providing a nice breakfast of ham, cheese, croissants with confiture, 2 kinds of bread, a yogurt with granola, an egg, and coffee. They alter the breakfast for longer stays. They even prepared a breakfast for take out on the previous evening when we had to leave early in the morning to see the sights. There was a small fridge on the 3d floor where you could help yourself with a variety of non alcoholic drinks and a bottle of wine from which you could help yourself to a glass of wine. The bed was very comfortable and the couch on the second floor facing the square was well used for checking email.
We arrived on a Saturday and it was a hopping place in the Grote Market so it was very noisy at night. You will sleep late on Sunday. We were provided with ear plugs that didn't help very much. Monday, Tues and Weds were quiet so we did have great sleeps on those days. Beware of the steep steps going up but we didn't have to ask to have our hosts bring them up and take them down. All in all it was a great B&B in Haarlem. The bathroom on the 2d floor facing the square was tight but kept fresh.
We were delighted to discover the L'Anders Bed and Breakfast in Haarlem. The location right on the square is the best in town. The room was good-sized, the shower and bathroom was excellent, and the WiFi generally fast--once you understand that the Coke Zero ad has to play before you can get access to the free Internet. The staff was friendly and helpful, a couple of times going out of their way to assist us. Breakfast downstairs in the restaurant was quite good and we were even given the opportunity to choose something extra that we wanted to eat. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for the best value in an outstanding location. Just keep in mind that you must let them know if you're going to arrive after 9 PM. And if you want a quiet room, request one in the back that's not facing the square which get very lively, especially on weekends. There is also no lift, so be prepared to climb the stairs, a small price to pay for the value you get.
I loved the quality of the food made at the connected brasserie (downstairs.) The staff were responive to our every request and because we had to leave so early to catch a flight - fixed us a breakfast to go which we ate on our flight south. They did attempt to anticipate every need and left us ear plugs as we had the room facing the Grote Market. If you want a quieter night of rest - skip the view room and ask for one in the back of the building.
The bright light from the marquee in front peeking in under the curtains. Perhaps the drapes could be made longer.
The windows were under the kitchen and the room smelt a lot and... ...An assistent woke up me at 6.00 am!
Breakfast was good but the same every day
rickety stairs, looking out at an old brick wall, only one chair in the room No comfortable seats or table in the room
Kindly stuff. Free drinks. Nice place in center of Haarlem. Strongly recommend.
Location was very central. Staff were relaxed and friendly. There was plenty to do in Haarlem.
Perfect location on Grote Markt Square in Haarlem. Easy access to Amsterdam. Friendly, accommodating staff, full breakfast, free wifi and complimentary wine/soft drinks. Lovely place! Great value.
Located in central square, staff was extra kind, good pricing, all clean.
I would not suggest this hotel to people with impaired motor skills as stairs are extra steep but that's about it.
wonderful staff large, nice, clean room great location in center & near bus stop good breakfast
Great location right in the centre of Haarlem. Breakfast great although not served until 10am but was asked if this was okay and I am sure if necessary could have had it earlier,
Stairs were very steep especially the ones to get to the second floor.
Wonderful breakfast and very friendly staff. Really great facilities.
