It was in a 1650's house with other houses the same in the area, right across from a canal and bridge to walk to the old town. The stairs were very steep to the rooms but on opening the door you find a large suite with patio windows opening up to the canals and street below. The room is renovated into a modern apartment. Bed is comfortable and the bathroom is huge. The owner cooks your breakfast and serves cheese, meats, yogurts and fruit along with eggs and many kinds of breads. It is a good 10 minute walk to the sites of the main area but on your way you pass 9streets which is full of fun stores to browse in. There is only two suites in this lovely old house so you feel like its more of an apartment than a B&B.
Not much sound proofing between floors.
This bed and breakfast is the ideal location so we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The area is busy during the day but is extremely quiet at night. Our room was very spacious and when we needed a break we could relax in the room while looking out the huge windows at the peaceful canal below.
The location was fantastic, close to the best shopping areas, cafe's and sights. The accommodation was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was good, a nice selection with eggs cooked each morning!
The stairs were a bit of a shock, however as we had read about this we were aware of them & the hosts were very kind to assist us with the bags.
the situation of the place and the spacious room
the stairs!! and we has a bit of uncertainty in using the front door keypad. only small issues relatively
Great location and lively.
Too many stairs
Beautiful, authentic Amsterdam experience, fantastic location. Our bedroom was very large and beautifully decorated, with a super sized bathroom. Delicious breakfast. Friendly and helpful host.
An amazing room! Very clean, huge bathroom, and bedroom. Great location 10 minutes form dam square so not too 'touristy'. Hosts were very friendly.
Hosts very welcoming, even organized a visit to a museum online and printed out tickets for us. The location is excellent, overlooking canal.
Location and view
That as international travellers with the required 23kg suitcases, the 3 flights of incredibly steep stairs was a very big challenge,as there was no lift, and we only got limited help from the owner.
Traditional Canal House centrally positioned on Prinsengracht close to everything we wanted to see and do, very accommodating host checking what time we would be arriving, what time we would like breakfast, etc...great continental breakfast provided. Thank you Tijn, we will be back!!
Beware of the stairs...The steepest stairs I have ever experienced, but it is a traditional Canal House so we expected it!
The host was very nice & friendly. The room was exceptionally large with a beautiful modern clean ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was very generous.
The very steep staircase but this is typical in these types of old buildings along the canals. A minor thing but there was no soap dish in the shower recess.
We loved the location. Near to everything but not in the middle of the late night crowd. We enjoyed sitting watching the people roll by on their bikes along the canal. The bed is super comfy with big down comforter and pillows. Great bathroom w good water pressure in shower and 2 person bathtub. Martijn is a wonderful host that served a beautiful breakfast for us with fresh local breads, jams, yogurt, meats/cheeses and freshly squeezed OJ! Would definitely come back again!
It is what it is, but those stairs are plentiful and steep. The every day walk up them really wasn't a problem for us. We would just chuckle about it but navigating luggage up/down them when we arrived/departed was our only real challenge and Martijn was there to help us with it when we arrived. Anyone with physical limitations might have difficulty but it will be fine for most people I believe.
Everything! It was brilliant!
There was nothing we didn't like. Martijn made our stay wonderful.
Our host was fantastic and made us an incredible breakfast everyday with fresh oj, fresh fruit, gourmet cheeses, croissants, breads, meats, and eggs any style. The bed was comfy and cozy, room was bright and spacious with a great view of one of Amsterdam's beautiful canals. Also, loved the location. Would definitely stay there again!
fabulous property, great host, who does great breakfasts, comfy bed, very appealing décor, best canal in Amsterdam, authentic narrow house with steep, steep, narrow stairs. loved it!
would have liked a hook or towel rail in the bathroom, but that is a very minor niggle.
Our suite was tastefully decorated and very comfortable.Martijn, the host and owner prepared a wonderful breakfast each morning. The dining setting was nicely done with fresh flowers adding to the ambiance.Overall a very pleasant stay.
Our stay was for three days. Having a wardrobe for clothing would have been nice.
Really made welcome. Only 2 rooms makes it very private.
Location, location and location. I picked this room for the location and window view. It did not disappoint. Host was great providing us with a good breakfast every morning.
Not a thing.
Wonderful location. Spacious comfortable room. Wonderful view over canal and the passing parade.
Nothing really.but the 49 nine very steep steps to our room did keep us fit.
What a fabulous place. Lovely, traditional building that has been very tastefully fitted out. Very spacious, fabulous view over the canal, fresh well catered for breakfast and a very helpful owner. Everything is provided for. Loved it.
Honestly, there was nothing to mention.
It's probably our favorite place in Amsterdam.Owner and Thomas' service are great.
nothing. even the steep stairs are fun for travelers.
Very good breakfast. Very large room with a really comfortable bed. A really authentic place to stay in Amsterdam.
The website listing needs to make the it clearer that the stairs are ladder like.
Everything - delightful place!
WOW! Almost the best you can find in Amsterdam, a brilliant Apartment, so clean, so cosy, so close to all sights!!!! Breakfast so delicious and in a private atmosphere. Visit them and you will totally agree with us. If you are a handicapped person, you will have problems with the typically steep stairs. I am addicted to the location and Amsterdam at all.
