Charming staff, good breakfast
Strairs toooo steep, dangerous for elder people
Good value for the money mainly due to the location and kindness of the staff. The hotel is just off a major square for night life but remained pleasantly quiet every night. Check in was easy and the clerk very helpful. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The room was basic but clean.
The shower had low pressure and the temperature fluctuated but this was an easily overseen discomfort.
Reception staff Location
Wifi was poor downstairs
The location & Staff is outstanding!
Amsterdam is Amsterdam - if you are on anything but the 1st floor the stair climb is going to be tuff (68 steps to the to Floor:)
I liked the location and the room had everything I needed.
The wifi was slow and kept dropping in and out.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the rooms were fairly spacious and the beds very comfortable. The location was great, a short stroll or tram ride to everywhere. The breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit and juices, eggs, hams and cheeses, a selection of breads and of course warm croissants. I would highly recommend this hotel and WILL be staying again.
Only the stairs, but of course this is part of the Amsterdam charm.
Very attentive and friendly staff, and the cat (at least as far as my child is concerned).
The temperature of the shower was difficult to adjust. Although it was not a problem for us, some might want to have their breakfast a bit earlier.
Friendly and helpful staff, great location, comfy beds, hotel cat, lovely local beers, free pancakes...
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and attempting to befriend the famous Mimi definitenly enhanced our stay as we love cats! The breakfast was good with freshly baked croissants, fresh fruit, and mostly fairtrade/ organic produce. They also make free little Dutch pancakes (poffertjes) if you can make it back to the hotel between 4 and 5pm which is brilliant! The location is amazing; just on the edge of the canal ring, it is close to the Vondelpark, the museums, the Jordaan, the Nejen Straatjes, Spui, Bejinhof, lots of shops, bars and restaurants, and reasonably close to the medieval centre/Dam Square - and not too close to the red light district which for us was a good thing! We walked everywhere and didn't need to take a tram but the tram stops are also very close to the hotel. It was quiet though and I wasn't disturbed by any noise at night. Loved this hotel, perfect for what we wanted!
I didn't find the narrow steep stairs too much of a problem and they are everywhere in Amsterdam, but they are something to bear in mind. Other people might not like the basement rooms with shared bathroom but I found it an excellent value option and didn't mind it; the basement rooms open onto a courtyard with a cheerful mural so there is a reasonable amount of light. It is clean, comfortable and has a lovely hospitable feel but I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for luxury.
Staff were welcoming and helpful Breakfast was good Rooms are small but we weren't expecting any different Rooms cleaned everyday Excellent location
Very narrow and steep stairs, not easy when you are short and have a big suitcase. However I knew this was the case before we went and I would still stay here again.
The location was fabulous and the staff friendly and helpful !
The climb up a very narrow staircase with super heavy suitcases ! ( we were warned earlier though! )
The staff at this hotel is really friendly and helpful. Good quality of sleep, good breakfast, and overall a good stay.
Rooms were a little cramped and the stair case was steep, but that's also how Amsterdam is.
Everything was great :D
The hotel staff was very friendly and informative. They suggested places of interest and was always willing to help. The complimentary breakfast was great! The food was fresh and well prepared. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable.
Everything about this hotel is wonderful. The staff are friendly and most helpful with telling you about where and why to go. Passing time in the dining area while it rains is equally as good as going out, as they have warm drinks, cold drinks and a bar, and there will always be willing conversation. Would highly recommend and personally would stay again
Smiling staff and nice Breakfast
Very Tony rooms and bathrooms.
Helpful, welcoming and chatty staff. Spotless and comfortable room with compact but well serviced en-suite. Superb breakfast each morning, fresh and well presented with a good selection on offer. Location super for exploring all Amsterdam has to offer. Secure main front door.
Can't think of anything :)
Amazing location. Great breakfast and hospitality. Staff was so helpful. Loved Amsterdam and next time we are back will stay here again.
The only thing I would advise people is if you have trouble with steep stairs or a lot of luggage, keep in mind that there is no elevator. We were on top floor, lots of stairs, but for us not a big deal.
The hotel is in a good location close to Leidseplein, where there are many cafes, restaurants and tourists, Fifteen minutes from Dam Square, the staff was very kind.
Small room for three people, we were in summer and it was hot without air conditioning.
All the staff were friendly and help me a lot while I stayed there
I stayed in the basement and it's quite noise from 1st floor.
My 70 year old legs found the 5th floor slightly tiring - but it was a great excuse for another glass of wine before ascending the stairs!
Wonderful staff, clean room and excellent location. Walking distance to canals, shopping, museums, theatre and parks.
Nothing not to like
Good for active tourist, this hotel is around Leidsche place where is day and night active! Included breakfast is tasteful. Fruits, eggs, cheese, hams, and remarkably tasteful croissants!
Room is bit old but not bad. At night, wifi connection was bit bad.
Good location friendly and helpful staff
Very steep staircase difficulty in carrying my suitcases to 2nd floor room rather small
