Breakfast too take for morning starts Noisy and smoking people from next door-reported it to staff. Have to wait till 8.15am to recover key deposit.
Location was really convenient. close to public transport but also close enough to walk to museums and parks. Rooms were clean with comfortable beds, good shower - we were in a triple room which was a bit larger but still quite small. The staff are really welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was really good with a nice selection of fruit, meat and cheese, croissants, yogurt.
The only negative is the steep stairs but this is almost standard for Amsterdam. We were on the third floor and it was quite a climb with our suitcases.
-good location and friendly staff -local information available in"library" -answered Email questions promptly - easy access to airport, one tram -good breakfast and free afternoon treats
-many narrow stairs -cat if you have allergies - small bedroom/ bathroom, sloped ceiling made it difficult to sit on the bed (no headroom) -small TV
Great location for walking to museums and old city. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast good.
Poor location for restful sleep. Located on a very busy street with lots of foot traffic and electric trains (trams) that run all night. Rooms are very tiny; a stout person may have difficulty fitting into the shower. Access stairwell is extremely steep-almost like a ladder & there is no lift to get your bags upstairs. No hot pots in rooms and they charge for tea/coffee in reception area.
Very nice and helpful staff Location is close to the center of all the action and lots of restaurants around
Tiny outdated bathroom that always had a bad odor No elevator with some of the steepest stairs I have ever seem Stains on the sheets, the towels, decorative pillows on the bed, mold in the shower, gum on the ceiling On the weekends the proximity to the club meant the thumping from the base kept us awake at night
the location is PERFECT !!!!
They have the weirdest stupidest bathrooms. Wifi sometimes doesn't work.
The staff is very helpful and great. They run the place like you are their personal guest.
No elevator when you have to carry luggage.
The staff may be the best in Europe. All are willingly and happily helpful. The location is great - short walk to the museums, and to the "action" in Amsterdam. Also, very easy bus to airport, or tram to train station connections.
Not a dislike, but as others note be alert to the fact that you will be climbing stairs! Also, wifi spotty.
Charming staff, good breakfast
Strairs toooo steep, dangerous for elder people
Good value for the money mainly due to the location and kindness of the staff. The hotel is just off a major square for night life but remained pleasantly quiet every night. Check in was easy and the clerk very helpful. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The room was basic but clean.
The shower had low pressure and the temperature fluctuated but this was an easily overseen discomfort.
Reception staff Location
Wifi was poor downstairs
The hotel was very clean and nice. The private room we got was very quiet and above and beyond what we truly expected for the price. The staff was very friendly and helpful, happy to help us find things and recommend local places. Also the cafe on the bottom floor was great - we enjoyed local beers and many coffee breaks there. The hotel is also in a great location - a 15 minute walk to to the center of Amsterdam and Jordan neighborhoods, 5 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum. We loved our stay here and will recommend it to any friends who travel to Amsterdam.
The only downside is that they have a very gentle, mostly well behaved cat that lives in the building. The cat occasionally jumps up on the tables in the cafe. It didn't bother our food or anything, and when the reception clerk noticed, they took her down quickly. However, I know this is a thing that would really annoy some people. Other than that, I whole heartedly recommend Hotel La Boheme
The location & Staff is outstanding!
Amsterdam is Amsterdam - if you are on anything but the 1st floor the stair climb is going to be tuff (68 steps to the to Floor:)
I liked the location and the room had everything I needed.
The wifi was slow and kept dropping in and out.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble, great breakfast very central location 2 mins walk from bus stop plenty of bars and places to eat just a short walk away.
We were on the first floor so didn't have a problem but I did overhear other guests talking about being on higher floors with lots of narrow stairs
The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the rooms were fairly spacious and the beds very comfortable. The location was great, a short stroll or tram ride to everywhere. The breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit and juices, eggs, hams and cheeses, a selection of breads and of course warm croissants. I would highly recommend this hotel and WILL be staying again.
Only the stairs, but of course this is part of the Amsterdam charm.
Very attentive and friendly staff, and the cat (at least as far as my child is concerned).
The temperature of the shower was difficult to adjust. Although it was not a problem for us, some might want to have their breakfast a bit earlier.
Friendly and helpful staff, great location, comfy beds, hotel cat, lovely local beers, free pancakes...
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and attempting to befriend the famous Mimi definitenly enhanced our stay as we love cats! The breakfast was good with freshly baked croissants, fresh fruit, and mostly fairtrade/ organic produce. They also make free little Dutch pancakes (poffertjes) if you can make it back to the hotel between 4 and 5pm which is brilliant! The location is amazing; just on the edge of the canal ring, it is close to the Vondelpark, the museums, the Jordaan, the Nejen Straatjes, Spui, Bejinhof, lots of shops, bars and restaurants, and reasonably close to the medieval centre/Dam Square - and not too close to the red light district which for us was a good thing! We walked everywhere and didn't need to take a tram but the tram stops are also very close to the hotel. It was quiet though and I wasn't disturbed by any noise at night. Loved this hotel, perfect for what we wanted!
I didn't find the narrow steep stairs too much of a problem and they are everywhere in Amsterdam, but they are something to bear in mind. Other people might not like the basement rooms with shared bathroom but I found it an excellent value option and didn't mind it; the basement rooms open onto a courtyard with a cheerful mural so there is a reasonable amount of light. It is clean, comfortable and has a lovely hospitable feel but I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for luxury.
Staff were welcoming and helpful Breakfast was good Rooms are small but we weren't expecting any different Rooms cleaned everyday Excellent location
Very narrow and steep stairs, not easy when you are short and have a big suitcase. However I knew this was the case before we went and I would still stay here again.
The location was fabulous and the staff friendly and helpful !
The climb up a very narrow staircase with super heavy suitcases ! ( we were warned earlier though! )
The staff at this hotel is really friendly and helpful. Good quality of sleep, good breakfast, and overall a good stay.
Rooms were a little cramped and the stair case was steep, but that's also how Amsterdam is.
Everything was great :D
The hotel staff was very friendly and informative. They suggested places of interest and was always willing to help. The complimentary breakfast was great! The food was fresh and well prepared. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable.
Everything about this hotel is wonderful. The staff are friendly and most helpful with telling you about where and why to go. Passing time in the dining area while it rains is equally as good as going out, as they have warm drinks, cold drinks and a bar, and there will always be willing conversation. Would highly recommend and personally would stay again
