This hotel is located at the border between the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. The hotel' s informal atmosphere and good personal service will make you feel right at home.

You can take lovely walks through the market square in Stadskanaal or go Nordic Walking. Cyclists can cycle to the fortified town of Bourtange.

Visits to the Dolmens Centre in Borger or the nature reserves Aa and Hunze, are also interesting to visitors. You can also enjoy the dolmen-turf colony route through Drenthe and Groningen.

The deluxe 4 star hotel has 40 rooms and 1 suite offering the highest standards of comfort and equipped with all modern conveniences. These includes trouser press, hairdryer, minibar and coffee & tea making facilities. The ensuite bathroom have the added luxury of floor heating.

In our restaurant "Brasserie" you can enjoy an extensive breakfast, a light lunch or a classic à la carte dinner in the warm and inviting location. You can als enjoy a cup of coffee, an aperitif or a nightcap in the welcoming bar.

Best Western Stadskanaal has a multi-functional conference room accommodating up to 120 people, with daylight. The room is equipped with modern audio-visual facilities and telephone/ISDN lines.

Food & beverage

In our cosy restaurant you will find a table for regulars, open fire, bar and a delightful terrace for when the weather's good.
Our menu consists of many classics, but also contains special regional dishes. Of course you can also let the chef surprise you.

Room information

All our rooms are en suite and equipped with all common facilities including Wi-Fi connection on request. They have two separate beds and a desk. The suite offers a small kitchenette and sitting area and is very suitable as romantic bridal suite.

Area information

Just outside Hotel Stadskanaal you will find ample choice of pleasant shops and small restaurants and the big Stadskanaal market, that's on every Saturday, starts 50 metres from the hotel and includes various specialities from Drente and Groningen. Next to Hotel Stadskanaal the theatre Geert Teis is situated and the cinema is only about a 100 metres further.

You can park your own bicycle in the guarded and covered bicycle shelter for free.

Hotel Stadskanaal is situated against the sand ridge of the Hondsrug and at cycling distance from places such as the Bourtange Settlement, Streekhistorisch Centrum (the regional historical centre), the historical railway S.T.A.R. (Stadskanaal-Ter Apel-Rijksgrens), the recreation area Pagedal, Borger and the peat district. There are cycling routes available for free and picnic baskets and good bicycles with gears for rent.

Within a half hours' drive you will be able to reach the zoo Dierenpark Emmen with its well-known butterfly garden, the cloister Ter Apel, Westerbork, Blauwestad or Germany (with for instance Schloss Dankern and its castle gardens).

Hotel Stadskanaal is undoubtedly your best choice for a relaxing or sporty stay.
