The style was a very original idea and worked brilliantly. From the uniform of the staff to the menus and decor of the rooms, everything co-ordinated with the theme. The beds were extremely comfortable and staff very welcoming. The restuarant was slightly over-priced and didn't have much choice.

An impressive former cruise ship as a very original location for a hotel. Beautiful retro interior and good beds.

Reasonably good price (€45/night) for a good, clean, well-appointed room during a period when everything else in the city was expensive. The inexpensive rooms do not have any windows. Remote location (2km / 1.25 miles) from the nearest metro stop. During periods when the bus from the metro station does not run, it is a 20 min walk each way.

I liked cruise ship atmosphere. It is cold in the cabins, especially floorings in the bathroom, there is no way to have better heating becouse of limited system that almost doesn't work at all. For me, my trip in Rotterdam became a trip in Frosterdam becouse of freezing in the ship's cabin. Breakfasts were poor.

A perfect hotel in the harbour of Rotterdam. Very good atmosphere of the 50's combined with modern design. Staff was very welcoming and proud to work there. And a very good price / performance balance. I had a constant problem with the remote control of the tv.

The room was suprisingly spatious for a "liner cabin" and there is free internet connection and coffee maker. Twin beds in a double room, not that great for a couple. If you want to see the ship, you have to pay seperately for a tour, even when you stay in the hotel, which is a bit unfair. There are different tours available, the shortest one for 12.50 euros doesn't include the engine rooms for example, so be carefull to check what's included or not.

Loved being there, my father brought this ship to this place as the last captain on board and that made the experience even more fantastic. Loved the atmosfere. I had guests from Australia and usa and they were totally flabbergasted about being on a real cruiseship. Can recommend it to anyone.

The comfort and the unusual setting-great job done on this iconic ship which was launched in 1958.Very comfortable and warm cabins and beds with Wi-Fi and coffee making facilities.Smoking area on the outside [aft] deck. Despite some remarks on this site, the ship is easy to get to by car or public transport.RET provide an excellent service from Centraal Station [20 minutes-Euro 3.50] by metro and bus.Metro [line D] to Rijnhaven and then bus 77 to the SS.Rotterdam.For ship enthusiasts there are two books about the Holland America line ['Going Dutch'] and also the SS.Rotterdam by William H.Miller, available from the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam.

Friendly service. Good sized room. Central location with good transport connections. Unusual building...being an old ocean liner. Restaurant service was slow. The better of the 2 was too expensive.

Very nice change to stay on board a boat instead of normal hotels. It was in excellent condition and I would definitely recommend. The exec room was spacious and very clean, comfy bed and modern bathroom whilst still in keeping with the origins or the ship. All the staff were excellent and very helpful. Bar was expensive, but it is a four star hotel.

The hotel staff and hotel facilities are excellent. Rooms (cabins) are comfortable and clean. You like to stay at a different type of hotel, this is it !! Very nice. The restaurant part on board is pretty lousy. We had a business lunch some time ago and everybody complained about the quality of the food. This trip, the food at dinner was mediocre at best and the service was plain bad!!! They looked like apprentices rather than proffesional waiters. Breakfast was a dissaster. There was plenty of food but the lines & waits were crazy. No organization. Wait in line with6-7 others to get a cup of coffee. There were only 2 coffee machines. They have more coffee machines in Shell gas stations. Restaurant parts is far below par.

The hotel looks great from the outside - an old passenger ship. The enormous queues at reception (waited for 20 mins!) The price of the room compared to the room size and ambiance The anonymous, mass-tourism atmosphere The absence of a *nice* hotel bar and restaurant The chaotic breakfast organisation

The experience of staying an unusual hotel in the heart of Rotterdam I wish the pool was available for guest to use and not part of a nostalic Ship Tour. I've stayed on the Queen Mary in Los Angeles and outside cabins were a real bonus
