Hotel De Posthoorn is situated in the idyllic historical city centre of Dokkum. The hotel has a big terrace on the canals and is an ideal starting point for a daytrip to the West-Frisian Islands Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. The "Lauwersmeer" (a big recreation lake), a real paradise for swimmers, sailers, kite- and windsurfers, is only 10 minutes by car from the hotel. In and around Dokkum you will find enough activities for a quiet as well as an active holiday. The hotel is also very suitable for business stays (early breakfast, lunchpackages, day menu).

In the very heart of Dokkum, the idyllic, historical heartland of northern Friesland, hotels De Posthoorn is situated. De Posthoorn is only ten minutes away from the Lauwersoog recreation area, a real paradise for swimmers and windsurfers.
De Posthoorn with its southfacing terrace and extremely comfortable accommodation, is a jumping-off point for the West Frisian Islands of Schiermonnikoog and Ameland. Dokkum, the centre for water sports, the 'terp' route of ancient mounds and, in the winter, skating. You can canoe in the nice surroundings of Dokkum. There is also a subtropical swimmingparadise and a manège. For such purposes De Posthoorn offers a wide range of possibilities: rooms for 200, 80 or 10 people with ample parking less than four minutes away.

Since Easter of 2006 our entire restaurant has been refurbished and refurnished, creating an excellent atmosphere for business and romantic dinners alike.

Route description: From Groningen: A7 in direction Drachten, junction 31 in direction of Surhuisterveen, then Buitenpost,then Dokkum. From Zwolle and Amsterdam: from Leeuwarden in direction of Hurdegaryp-Dokkum. Our hotel is in the city-centre of Dokkum.
