Truly wonderful balcony! Surprisingly varied breakfast. Location obviously excellent. Staff helpful and pleasant and informative. My grandma would not have been able to climb all those steep and narrow stairs... I was also a bit concerned that you had to leave the key card in the reception during the day, so that theoretically anyone could wander on in and claim to be staying in a certain room, since the afternoon receptionist did not check to see if I was actually the person who had checked in there in the morning.

Hotel had a convenient location and the balcony made up for some of the hotels short comings. Breakfast was simple but will meet most needs. Check in/out was mostly fine, though we arrived at 13:55 for a 14:00 check in and the room wasn't ready. And they were unsure if they accepted Mastercard until they tried it in the machine! (it worked). Unfortunately, there were a number of reasons why I could not recommend this hotel. Most things are forgivable except for a lack of cleanliness. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed, probably ever. The chairs in the room were a bit mouldy and the curtains had a fair covering of dust and cobwebs. The smell of the drains was a little overpowering and necessitated keeping the bathroom door shut, which would of been fine if the extractor worked. The bathroom also lacked towels untill I asked. They provided them quickly, but oddly, said they knew there wasn't any in the room when we checked in? There is a strong likelihood that our room had bed-bugs. Both of us had bite marks by the last day which, after a google search, looked like the typical bite mark/pattern/area. So we are keeping a close lookout in case we have brought anything back with us. The hotel, in it's current state, should really be classified as a hostel and priced accordingly.

24 hour reception, courteous, helpful, with good English skills. Low cost, WiFi included in room price. Clean. Good location. Steep narrow staircase (similar to many other houses in Amsterdam). Room was a bit small.

The hotel is in a very good location. The rooms are small but clean and cosy. In general the structure is that of an old Amsterdam house, so the steep stairs and the narrow rooms are part of the experience. Some rooms have a good view of the palace and of the typical dutch back gardens.. Some of the hotel staff are very nice and helpful, some are less. The hotel cat is extremely friendly and likes cheese. The breakfast is ok, not much choice, but enough decent food. There is no heating in the bathroom. The staircase will be a problem for people with bulky heavy luggage or that have trouble walking.

The location was great, close to the Dam, one can walk anywhere from the hotel. There isn't anything I didn't like. Regarding the price, it's a fair hotel to stay for a few nights. If we wanted to stay for more than two days, than it might not be so good, because the room was quite small.

the room was clean, but really tiny. But it's a typical Amsterdam house, so it was ok. Breakfast was good and enough. ok, it's a typical house in Amsterdam, so you expect steeply rising stairs. But it's a slight shock when you open the front door and see those stairs. It's not for people who have problems with feet or knees. And don't carry big luggage with you ;)

Location of the hotel. I expected family hotel/room as written anywhere. The result was small room with three beds, one of them was extra bed not regular bed. I paid for three bed room. Maybe it is the reason why I was asked immediatelly during the check-in for payment (!). Interesting behaviour. No table in the room. Staff is more that not helpfull. They have no interests in guests. Only for payment. The rooms are not very clean. The waste bins was not emptied during all three nights spent in the hotel. Of course, no houskeeping... No light in the bathroom. No interest of the staff to change the bulb. I bought the new bulb myself. Not very pleasure smell in the room and mainly in the bathroom. I am very frequent trraveller. I am ready to accept a lot of bad things at the hotels. But it was too much. The price of the hotel is for location, only.

Location for city centre Shabby, claustophic, depressing, no soap, ripped towels, tv secured on bracket with tape, little bedding in cold weather, no obvious heating. Two Star means basic - but also of acceptable standard; no-one has bothered about this hotel for years and years.

The only good thing about Hotel Di-Ann is the location. A very short walk and you are in Dam Square and the heart of Amsterdam. A lot of traditional hotels in Amsterdam have steep & narrow stairs, but Hotel Di-Ann must take first prize for the most lethal set of stairs I have ever encountered. They are positively dangerous, with a deadly twist at the top that reduces the stairs to little more than a ladder. The single room (405) is small, poorly furnished and in need of modernisation and redecoration, although there is a small fridge and a room safe (which was free to use). During my 4 night/5 day stay, the bed was made three times, and the rubbish bin emptied once. I could not find any evidence of any other cleaning being done in the room. Under the bed, and in other hard to reach places, the dust and fluff was thick and obviously hadn't been cleaned for ages. Finally, do not even consider staying at this hotel if you want a decent breakfast. The worst and smallest breakfast selection of any Amsterdam hotel I have ever stayed in. So, if breakfast is an issue, stay somewhere else.
