Very very small room
Staff were really nice and nothing was to much trouble requested room change from 302 it was no trouble if staying request a room on first floor enjoyed my visit
Room 302 was horrible
Room with a lovely balcony!
Great location with short walk to major attractions of that lovely city. The convenient transportation to the other major museums and train station. Very helpful staff and the best breakfast from the all 4 location we are staying on that trip to Europa.
Because it is an old building it is does not have a lift. Access to the second floor is very steep but the staff ready to help you with luggage. Noise from the trams and cars near by.
Room has balcony.
Very steep stairs and no lift. Rooms are quite small.
Very central! Old, but clean.
Many stairs, old room.
Location, location, location. This was a great place for easy access to the Anne Frank House museum. 1-2 kilometers walk to other museums, including the National Museum (Rijksmuseum). Restaurants are plentiful nearby - a couple are open late, including one right below the hotel entrance and on the corner. Staff very helpful should you need to print out your boarding pass prior to departure. Housekeeping was very courteous and humble. Peaceful at night even with room windows open.
Bed was far too soft for me and probably for other older folks with any kind of back troubles. Pillows were far too large to use for sleeping upon. I used my coat in a pillowcase. Long and steep stairways may be problematic for some folks and anyone with large luggage. 38 steps up to reception and more to rooms above. Roadwork outside begins just after 7 am, so retiring early to sleep is a must. Should be near completion by end of 2014.
location, location, location! It was a good base for just plain old sleep
not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties, very steep stairs, no lift.
Wifi very intermittent, more off than on Safe not useable as someone had previously locked it and nobody had the master key. No suggestion on checking in that the remote for the TV was issued on receipt of a deposit, which became apparent after undressing for bed. Then I had to return to reception a further time to get one that worked.
Location was great. Within walking distance of everywhere.
Hotel fairly dirty and very tired looking. Even after reading other reviews I wasn't expecting it to be amazing but was still disappointed.
The location is really great, between Dam square and Anne Frank house. The breakfast was also quite good. Considering that it is a budget hotel, the variety of food and quantity was great. Moreover, the wifi was really good, what was a positive surprise. The hotel is not new, but the room I stayed had a bathroom and toilet, so it was quite confortable for 1 person.
I don't think it is a problem of this specific hotel but several buildings in Amsterdam have steep and narrow stairs (you have to climb them to reach the reception and then again to go to your room), and do not have an elevator. I do not have any problem with that, but if you don't like steep and narrow stairs maybe it is not a good option. Other than that, because it is in a quite busy street, the room can be regarded as a little bit noisy by people sensitive to noise. For me it was within the acceptable level.
The stairs are too tough for travelers with heavy luggage and for old persons
The location was excellent and it was definitely good value.
The stairs were very narrow and there were 71 stairs to get to my room which although clean was very very small and poorly lit. It definitely made you want to get out and see Amsterdam.
Situated in a great location near the central station. Helpful staff and great breakfast.
Very small and narrow stairs, not suitable for travellers with lots of luggages.
Good location, very friendly staff, good breakfast spread, comfy rooms..
No elevators, smelly toilet, poor internet coverage in room.
Excellent location! Rooms were basic, but all we needed for our trip!
Breakfast was very basic
Central to the Dam, centre of Amsterdam, and very close to the trams.Reasonable breakfast included.
Stairs were very steep to get to the reception area if you have large bags .Beds a bit old, but okay, otherwise okay value for money.
Good location, fair services for the price.
would be good to see a bit of refurbishment
To much stairs, I have problems with my knee and I have to carry my luggage through the stairs.
Good staff, location, breakfast.. Good atmosphere
No elevator No balcony in twin rooms
Staff came into our room while we was out and rummaged through our bags just glad we had our money on us!!
A poorly maintained shabby hostel for €100 per night. Wifi only worked in reception, internet did not work, toaster did not work, power point in bathroom did not work & no handbasin plug. Rooms are tiny with no place for bags
Nothing. Just the location
We couldn't sleep all night long. Very dirty & not comfortable
