The authenticity of the place is brilliant. Breakfast was good, but better if one was a "Musli" (Vegetarian).

As a family we loved everything. A unique place to stay. Location for town and what we visited Arnhem for couldn't have been bettered. We will definitely be going back!!

We didn't have a longer stay and that we had to leave.

Superb location and hotel which is situated in the heart of Arnhem on the Rhine. Fantastic Bars, Cafe's and Restuarants are all within a few minutes walk and your Host will expertly recommend where to go if you're unsure. The whole experience of a Houseboat, a unique room, beautifully decorated, with a bed suspended from the ceiling by four huge chains. Having our own veranda facing the river on a lovely sunny evening while watching the river boats go by takes some beating. From the delightful breakfasts, to the gorgeous kittens that come to visit you adds a charming character to your stay. Thank you Ruud for a unique experience for our whole family. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Arnhem and i will be returning for another stay in the future.

There is nothing to dislike whatsoever!

Location: on houseboat on Rhine, 10 minute walk to town center. Huge rooms with couch, balcony overlooking river. Nice vegetarian breakfast. Common room with kitchenette (shared by 4 rooms). Fun artwork on walls, ceilings (see his website). Friendly proprietor, lives on site. Friendly cats which our 14 year old loved. Ducks in river. Boat traffic, with some swells, stops at night.

No curtains on windows, (light issue more than privacy), which owner has plans to improve.

Being on the water, exotic decor, amazing breakfast

Too many wild/stray cats & kittens, garbage floating around the boat entry

beautiful, comfortable, unique houseboat. Truly a special experience. Very clean and welcoming once you get inside.

The exterior looks terrible. A complete mess, like a low-income trailer park. Gives a negative first impression. But that changes when you get to the main house.

Not to mention the delightful breakfasts, and the gorgeous kittens watching over you while you eat it!

It has been a wonderful experience, Ruud was very welcoming and we felt that we met an old friend! The Drijfpaleis is an unique place, We gave it 'ten out of ten' or, should we say 'eleven out of ten'! Don't change anything, it is the most whacky, crazy, wonderful place you will ever find. Thank you Ruud for this great experience!! Best wishes, Adrian and Maggie

The total experience was a fantastic surprise. The owner's attention to detail and to providing a first class service was faultless. Surreal, very comfortable and great fun.

This was one of the best places we have stayed during our travels to Europe so far. While Arnhem is a rather unassuming town Drijfpaleis has enough charm to more than make up for it. We had the two rooms on the upper level of the houseboat which were joined by a cozy but well stocked kitchen and dining area. The rooms were large, furnished well, had a great views out to the river (as well as a balcony), and very nice bathrooms. The breakfast provided in the morning was very filling, fresh, and home made. I just can't say enough good things about this place.

There was a third, larger room upstairs as well but it was under construction. The climb to the 2nd floor is on a very tight spiral staircase. You must park in a very crowded public lot nearby, however the walk is very short.

It was just perfect, the boat itself is a piece of art, its owner is very nice, positive and helpful, they even have a couple sweet and gentle cats around. We had an unforgettable experience staying at Drijfpaleis!

Excellent location - just far enough out of the town. Lovely river location. Room very large with doors out onto small balcony.

Only tea offered with breakfast would have been nice to be offered coffee as an alternative.

What an amazing place to stay on holiday. The hotel building is actually floating on the river. Inside the hotel is hand-painted artistry beautiful decoration. The owner was very helpful and kind. The vegetarian breakfast was great quality and generous amount. And it was also convenient room service. I recommend anybody to stay this hotel in Arnhem.

The novelty of the position on the river. Good breakfast. Computer in the room was useful. Friendly, helpful owner.

The stairs and gangway make it inadvisable for people with mobility problems. A bit isolated, and not easy to find from the station.

Next time we visit the Netherlands we'll stay here instead of Amsterdam - loved this place! Our room was comfy with beautiful murals on the walls, we had the peace and quiet of the river, and the town centre was just a short walk away. Special thanks to our friendly host Ruud, and of course his friendly cats!

Typically Dutch stairs - more like a ladder! Take care. (Rooms on the houseboat are on the top floor, but Ruud will help with luggage!)

I was excited to stay here based on the pictures and reviews, and drijfpaleis completely exceeded my expectations from the moment it came into sight. I stayed in the honeymoon suite on the main floor of the houseboat, which was grand, but I also got to tour the other rooms upstairs. All rooms are huge with large bathrooms, clean, fun, uplifting decor, plenty of coffee, very reasonable pay bar with a variety of choices, tv and computer with internet in each room, great breakfast, comfortable bed. It was nice to sleep with the windows open to the river, and in the mornings and evenings observe the action on the river- animals, boats, nice sunsets. If you are two couples traveling together, it is good to stay in the 2 upstairs rooms, as they share a kitchen area and large patio overlooking the river to congregate on. Rooms are very private, but I also had the opportunity to meet other people staying there- nice people of all ages, everyone having a nice time and thoroughly enjoying the hotel. You can even have a campfire on the grounds of the riverbank where the caravans are. Each room and caravan are unique here, and they make you want to experience staying in them all, it is hard to choose! The price was also good, I felt I got way more here, and paid less, then other hotels/B&B's I stayed at in the Netherlands. The wifi was also fast and reliable, no kicking me off and constantly having to sign back on, which was an issue I often encountered in other hotels throughout Europe. I only booked 1 night, but I ended up staying longer because you need a few days here to really soak everything up and enjoy it, and I found lots I wanted to do in and around town. I usually spend little time in my hotels, but every once in awhile I come across a hotel with a special atmosphere that makes me want to have a "hotel vacation", and this was one of them.
