Score from 235 reviews Wonderful
The staff and accomodation
Pollows very thick and scratchy fabric
The fact that the room is not accessible from reception without having to climb some stairs at some point
Beautiful location. Close to trainstation 10 min walk. Close to national park and the sea.
Standard rooms and superior rooms are not very appealing. Staying in these room categories would not be worth staying in this hotel at all (not clean, stains in the carpet, mold in the showers, very dark). Junior suites are very nice so be sure you book an upgrade.
Beautiful location Good food
We booked a classic room with breakfast, but when arrived we were given a cheaper room and told there was no breakfast included in our stay. After showing them our booking confirmation we were given a bigger room (superior instead of classic as all the classic rooms were taken) and told breakfast was included in our stay - like we said. These are very big mistakes as our booking was not complicated. We are thankful they gave us what we deserved, but were disappointed for this bad service.
surroundings were quiet. price.
not convenient for travel to Amsterdam.
Spacious room, wonderful food.
150 euros is maybe a normal price for locations like these nowadays but I thinking it's a lot. There were big stains on the carpet in our room from bleach or something.
The location, the building and atmosphere were great.
We were offered breakfast in room, but we were not informed that it costs 40 euros extra. Moreover, a cappuccino was replaced by a tea, the smoothies were missing and the fruit salad wasn't that fresh.
Good location for visiting Haarlem, Amsterdam & Delft. Extensive grounds & good sized rooms. Didn't have breakfast (somewhat over priced at 20 euros a head!)
The corporate feel of a large business hotel. Sprawling complex - almost too large & impersonal. Rather over priced.
Excellent en friendly staff. Good breakfast with lots of choices en delicious food. Good bike rental facility for 15 euro per day. Beautiful location for hiking and cycling. The national park is located directly next to the hotel.
The bed was uncomfortable. The mattress was old and worn out. The cleanness of the room could be better. We found cut nails from a previous guest on the carpet.
Nice place, Nice Staff, very clean, Very Happy.
We loved the property and everything around it. It was an amazing stay!
The wifi service could have been better. And there should be kids bikes available as well.
Location and good parking facilities. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the Denk brasserie was excellent and well priced and the service was very efficient.
Quiet and homely atmosphere, I enjoyed sitting on the terrace that overlooks the park in the evening. There are lots of places where you can sit and relax, so that you don't have to stay in your room.
Although everything in the room was impeccable, I found an old reddish stain on my towel. This is the only reason why I rated cleaness "good" and not "excellent".
This lovely chateaux is located just 5 Km from Haarlem and only about 20 minutes from Amsterdam, yet it's tucked in horse country with a wonderful national park right out the back door!
Food Staff Bed Location
Slow restaurant service, took 2 hours to get food!
The hotel/ castle and the grounds are stunning and picturesque. You walk in on a red carpet and feel like royalty. We stayed only for the weekend but everyone was really friendly and accommodating. The bed and memory foam pillows were unbelievably comfortable! The location is also ideal to ride bicycles around the city and to Haarlem as we did. We also happened to run into one of the hotel staff at a Tapas restaurant a few towns over. She and her partner offered us their table (which had a great view of the street and canal) after they were done. I found it to be such a nice gesture.
The rain shower was great but the water would soak the towel and floor on the outside of the shower. That was a bit annoying.
Fantastic place for relaxing, very beautiful view, very good rooms, nice restaurant.
Everything which is why this is the second time we have stayed.
The location and hotel were great.
I am a breakfast person and it was a lovely buffet, however 20e per person per day is too much for what was on offer. A swimming pool would be great in such a nice hotel.
We truly enjoyed our overnight. However, this is more a place for weddings/meetings/conferences. The sauna was very disspointing. It's a tiny room and the gym is very over crowded and small. We were hoping to make use of it, however did not. The breakfast was very nice.
We had a wonderful experience at both the Bistro and the Restaurant. The food and wine were excellent and the service impeccable.
location is very nice, in the middle of the forest and dunes
I expected to book a room in a castle, at least that is what the picture shows. I was very disappointed that the majority of the rooms was in a kind of bunker newly build attached to the castle (not to be seen on the picture when booked). The rooms where outdated. I also had a room far away with a lot of stairs, which was incredible inconvenient with suitcases. Concierge service was not offered
Beautiful old country estate hotel but it is worth paying the extra to stay in the main building. The cheaper rooms looked like bunkers! The car parking was free.
The breakfast was extremely expensive at 20 Euro and not worth it so didn't bother the 2nd morning.
