Excellent location in a beautiful and quiet aera, the historical city and museums are nearby. High fare, but this is general in Amsterdam : there is no cheap hotel. The mark-up on the price for payment by credit card was unexpected. |

The hotel was awful and tiles missing and coming away from the bathroom floor. The wall lamps were coming away from the wall leaving wires exposed which was very dangerous. Overall not value for money and a rip off. |

Very friendly staff, very comfortable room, a lot for space to leave our luggage and move around the room as we pleased. Service wasn't so fast. We had to go to the reception desk and ask them again and again to turn the heating on or to...give us toilet paper. Also no phone or fridge in the room. |

The gentleman who handled the check in was friendly and helpful. Location was good 10 min walk from station and in a nice quiet side street overlooking a canal. Bed linen did not fit the bed properly. The window didn't shut completely and didn't have curtains just roller blinds so lots of light came in. Tiles missing from shower floor, toilet so close to sink you had to sit sidewards. As per other reviews there is a strange smell from the sinks. Staff in morning need to learn service from the younger man, very surly. |

Decor, location, main staff member who responded to a concern of ours promptly and effectively. When we arrived the beds had a sheet each on them for us to use to make the beds up. The first night we were there other people on our floor were very loud, blaring music from one room to the next and calling out to one another until after midnight - no staff member climbed to the fifth floor to tell them to be quiet, we had to ask them to be quiet ( a request that was adhered to). The next day when we reported them, the staff member on duty was excellent; he spoke with the offending guests immediately and asked us to let him know straight away if they were once again a problem. |

Staff was very friendly. There was a secret trap door to the basement in our closet. Quiet but central location. * Windows on ground floor facing the street were not lockable, could be opened from street. * Bathroom renovated with 'flair' but little craftsmanship: E.g tiles missing or loose in floor of shower, stinky (tar-smelling) black paint job on cabinet under sink. * 10:30 checkout time with per-hour fees to extend it. * Small "tourist tax" at check- in (~ 4.00 eu) not in online booking receipt. |

this was my best stay in amsterdam. when you are in your room you feel like you are in a village and when you go out you find a city. The staff was really nice and friendly. they cleaned our room every day. I will definetely choose this hotel again. |

I liked that I was able to store my luggage after check out, the front staff was very helpful. The beds were really hard, no hair dryer, the room smelled a bit musky, no remote to turn on the TV, lamps did not function in my room, no elevator/lift, no wi-fi or telephones |

Good sized room - we had the 5 person room on the first floor - newly renovated. Walking distance to almost everything in Amsterdam, but still located in quiet area. Hard beds but at least had nice pillows. Did not have breakfast there as too pricey, instead walked to nearby Rembrandtplein for patisseries. (Did not have mosquito problems like other guests comments - but also now Autumn and weather cooler) |

Decorration of the rooms look causy but nothing more than that... We booked a "large" room however I couldnt sit on the toilet since my knees were touching the wall. It was really very small very small toilet. In the small room selection, I heard from my friends that your head is touching to the ceiling due to the inclined roof. There is no refrigirator, minibar, water, hairdryer in the room. The showers floor was sticky. Dont recommend this hotel.. |

Quiet neighborhood, nice to walk home to at night. Clean The small double room did not have an actual double bed, hard for 2 people to sleep in. Staff unfriendly. People smoked even though not supposed to. Tough stairs with heavy suitcase. |

Location is excellent. Staff is accomodating. Quiet street. Close to Waterlooplein and Rembrandtplein. Rooms were recently renovated which is good. They have a serious mosquito issue which needs to be solved. I wouldnt recommend you to stay there only due to this issue. |

This is a difficult review to write (see my negative comments). After the first night, I was about to check out and search for a better hotel (there are several of similar standards right next door and some more expensive ones not too far away), but then the warmth and friendliness of the owner got me. He was so nice tome during breakfast that I decided to stay. The hotel was recently refurbished in a very stylish design, so it is amazing that all of the negative design features (see below) are still there. I had read the reviews before arrival and had a combination of all of the negative experiences: my room (401) was tiny, essentially a corridor segment with a bed; the bathroom stank of sewage (due to the size of the room that meant that the whole room stank); the younger person at reception had a lot of attitude; the TV in my room was fixed so that it was impossible to see anything on screen from anywhere; the breakfast is mediocre (OK for Amsterdam hotels, but not OK for the 10 Euro they ask for it); cold eggs at breakfast; there were moskitos in the room that made sleeping difficult; the bathroom door does not close if you're sitting on the toilet. |

The hotel was attractive and clean, and the staff were helpful. We had booked a small double room but the size was adequate, we didn't feel that we didn't have enough space. It seemed good value for money overall. The sinks didn't seem to have u-bends so the bathroom smelt of sewage. The shower didn't drain very well. There was a lot of mosquitos but luckily we had come prepared with insect repellent. We thought that the breakfast seemed quite expensive but as there was the option of not having it that wasn't really a problem. |

Very friendly staff; freshly renovated 1733 building; rooms designed beautifully in black, white and grey; stiff stairways inside (we only had backpacks, so it was fun to climb), huge windows, romantic view on the canal and the Hermitage, walkable distance from the center and still quiet; canal bus stops nearby (take it!). We didn't have any problems with mosquitos. Highly recommend for young couples without heavy luggage! Shower curtain was missing, plastic glasses in the bathroom distract from the attractiveness of the room |
