This cosy and friendly budget hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, in the southern part of the centre of Amsterdam.

Just 5 minutes away from the RAI congress centre and at walking distance from the Heiniken Brewery, you can enjoy simple accommodation at competitive rates. The Hotel Flipper provides a choice of basic rooms or rooms with private facilities. A wholesome breakfast buffet makes a good start to your day.

You can easily walk to the famous Albert Cuyp Market and reach many shopping streets and restaurants. The Amstel Metro Station is also within short walking distance. The bustling city centre is only 10 minutes away by public transport, which runs 24 hours a day.

Because of the hotel’s friendly atmosphere, but most of all because of the outstanding personal service, you should feel at home right away.

Hotel information

Hotel Flipper is a small, comfortable and warm family hotel. Our hotel was formely a large family house built at the beginning of the 20th century. The whole area was designed in the style of Amsterdam School. We serve a large buffet-style continental breakfast in our cheerfull diningroom which is already included in the price. The ambiance, location and friendly prizes of hotel Flipper will make your stay in Amsterdam a very pleasant one!

Please note that the hotel has no elevator/lift. But as there are only 3 floors (including the ground floor) you will not have to climb too many sets of stairs.

Check-in is not possible after 23:00 unless specified or by e-mailing the hotel beforehand.

Room information

All rooms are basically furnished and provide the following facilities: TV, telephone, alarm clock/wake-up service, central heating and free Wi-Fi internet access. Most rooms have private shower and toilet.

Please note that the picture in the photograph is just one of the many different type of rooms we have - it is one of the twin rooms with private shower/toilet.

Area information

Hotel Flipper is located in the immediate vicinity, 5 minutes by public transportation, of the Rai Congress Centre, World Trade Centre, Amstel Station, Amstel City Park, Science Park A'dam and the A10 highway. Schiphol Airport is just 15 minutes away. All major sights, such as the museums, squares, markets, restaurants and night life are all reachable within 10 minutes. Public transportation to all directions is just around the corner. ( 24-hour)

The hotel staff were not particularly friendly especially since there was a lot of confusion about the payment of our room and they could not speak good english which didn't help

price is competitive to a hostel; breakfast included (if you wake up on time)

room was rather cold, (shared) bathroom was cramped and old; checkout is 11, not 12; too far to walk from city center; confusing directions;

friendly staff

Booked for two night and on the day before i checkout,was disturbed 5times by the room service and then a lady saying i am suppose to check out but i said no,i check out tomorrow.the same happened with the room service staffs too.perhaps a decent approch of apologizing would be appreciated.

The staff were friendly

Yes. The breakfast was very average for a hotel in the city centre. I stayed in a comfortable triple room, with en suite the first night, but also stayed in a twin room the next night, which was uncomfortably small. The basin in the corner was impossible to use as the shelf above was too close to your head. The shared bathroom lacked a mirror or adequate lighting. I need more space to write here..

Very very very very small single room!it's like a rabbit hatch...and walls are very thin.cost doesn't match the room quality.

There was a good selection at breakfast.

We new it would be basic but we were disappointed as there were holes in the sheets. We did not really like the location and as two girls we were quite scared when returning late at night so came back early.

Gerat staff, relly helpfull, the place is clean, the shared bathroom was fair in size, but clean, do bring sandals for the shower!! The room was really small, but to stay a few nights in amsterdam was ok!! It was clean! Overall the stay was really good and their continental breakfast was excellent!!

The internet!! I could'nt get on!!

Great helping staff, clean rooms, great location (only about a 7 min walk from the metro), decent breakfast buffet (good tea selection for a hotel), clean bathrooms.

No ensuite, but that was in the description and was expected.
