Fletcher Hotel Gilde    

the building is marvellous. no doubt. the hotel has a very friendly staff, serves good breakfast and rooms have nice soft beds. it's well situated just a minute walk from our parking and downtown. we had room 1, which is very spacy.

room 1 is outdated. true. the shower too. it has a shower curtain, yes. but it's all simple and clean. our room was on the ground floor, next to the street. so kinda noisy.

Good situation, lovely building, helpful staff, good breakfast, room fine, quiet for sleeping.

the building is ab-so-lu-te-ly gorgeous! And in in-building bar makes it a great place to stay.

we had a spot of bother with the outer (not the inner garden: that one is amazing) garden our bedroom overlooked. It was a mess. We made a complaint that was handled admirably.

Staff were friendly and service oriented. The location and design. The room was clean.

The room was up a dangerous flight of stairs. It was also very bare. Some effort could have been made to put some colour into it. Such a shame in such a lovely building. The mattress kept slipping during the night. Wow just read the same thing on the review - so obvious really.

I would like to see tea & coffee facilities in the rooms. On cold wet evenings it would be nice if the hotel served evening meals rather than having to weather the wind & rain to find somewhere to eat.

On entering the hotel, I was immediately captivated by the beauty of this old historic building: the carved woodwork, the wonderful stained-glass windows and the wide sweeping staircase leading to the upper floors. At check-in, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. I had booked to stay for seven nights, my case was heavy and therefore, on my request, I was shown to the lift. That staircase could wait for another day. My plastic key gained entrance to a single room ( I was travelling solo). My first reaction was one of disappointment. Not because of the size - it was spacious enough for one person - but it certainly could have benefited from some extra loving care. Some paint, another carpet and a couple of pictures would have made a vast improvement to the room. However, after my first night there, I can honestly say the bed was extremely comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean and I slept like a log. And this from someone who sleeps with difficulty! The bathroom was superb, extremely clean too, the shower worked wonderfullyand there were sufficient towels, etc. The next morning, I enjoyed the self-service breakfast in a very pleasant room - it also offered the possibility to eat outside on the balcony. Breakfast was excellent and provided an extensive choice, which was regularly replenished. On a couple of evenings during my stay, I made use of the bar. Again, this was a very pleasant room in which to enjoy a drink. Because the weather was balmy, it was also possible to have drinks served in the garden, another really nice spot in which to relax. As you can probably guess, I certainly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Gilde - and I had spent time at other hotels during my holiday in Holland, some more expensive, so I could make a comparison. My only request would be for the rooms to be updated, to be better decorated. Then it would be perfect. What more could you want?

Very friendly helpful service on Sunday arrival, help to the room with bags, kettle milk and extra pillows put in room upon request, good advice and help on car parking given. lovely calm hotel.

On arrival at breakfast at 9.35 no fresh eggs or bacon offered, only the old dry food in the hot dishes.

Location, architecture, convenience

Spiral staircase to room, kitchenette with no utensils, inadequate minibar with out of date goods.

Rooms were tastefully refurbished since our last stay which was a huge improvement.

Location is good, breakfast is ok

I got to the hotel late so there was no staff. My bed barely fit me (and I am a small man), my television did not work, my light did not work, and the shower had no shower head, and the room was dirty. Not worth 75 Euros...It is a shame, because I must go to Deventer every year and there are not many hotels.

Nice building, good breakfast, central location.

Hotel room is basis and could do with with a make over. The beds could do with being udated also.

"Free Internet" is kpn which is good but limited in time and number of logins. If you mobile device is logging in and out to check email automatically this is a problem. As a general definition I would not expect "Free Internet" to be either time or logins restricted.

This hotel is in a good location needs major remodeling. Could be a gem if it wasn't so ignored. Very much a budget hotel. Would not stay again or recommend. I did like the one person who was the hotel staff. He went out of his way to help me.

The beautiful building and the delicious breakfast.

The room was very small, especially the bathroom. Very tacky all round. A beautiful building with so much potential to become a 5 star hotel. Shame!

voor 1 nacht was voor ons alles prima in orde. Het ontbijtbuffet uitstekend. We widen van kamer ruilen, en dat ging probleemloos

`s morgens vroeg liep iemand van het personeel voortdurend met tamelijk luid klepperende hakken door het Hotel te banjeren. daar het Hotel nogal gehorig is vonden wij dat storend.

Redelijk mooi en oud hotel.

We hadden een luxe kamer maar was dit zeker niet. Voor het toilet met douche ( geen bad ) was geen deur,behang zat los,luxaflex was kapot,geen lift naar de kamer,geen koffie op de kamer en nog een aantal dingen.

De kamer was niet erg groot en het bed erg zacht

Het personeel wat uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Er was geen lift naar onze verdieping dus we moesten met de bagage een trap op.
