Location. Quiet at night.
The 'double bed' is just two beds pushed together. Not exactly romantic. The 'double deluxe' room was in the dark basement. The 'non-smoking room' room stank of smoke.
The location is fantastic, a stones throw from the main shopping area, not far from flower market, museums etc.
Room smelt of stale tobacco and a strange smell in the bathroom, which kept coming back My partner is 75 and the stairs were so steep he had to go down them backwards, no lift.
rooms small. Very small. 1 shower and toilet to share. Uncomfortable
Good location, pretty area, quiet at night. Secure as you had to be buzzed in by a member of staff or use your key card so people can't walk in and out freely. Very happy with our room - comfy beds, clean, opening windows, private bathroom, great shower, tv (although we didn't watch it) and excellent wifi. Check out at 11am but you can pay a fee of €5 for late check out at midday. Very nice girl at reception on booking in but the male staff weren't as friendly - saying that, there were perfectly polite.
There was a slight smell in the bathroom which I recognised as coming from the drain in the shower. I have come across this in hotel in Amsterdam and think it comes with the territory of the old building etc. It didn't bother us as we bought a Glade lavender freshener for a couple of euro and it masked it completely lol as we have just arrived home and already booked into the same hotel (and same room if possible), it obviously didn't offend me too much!
greaf location, great staff
Good location in Leidsplein. close to transportation to airport (bus 197) and tram to the other part of city center. nice team at the reception
very basic room. no mirrors within the room. the bathroom is clean but do not expect too much... Rooms are not as they seen in the formal pictures in different websites. If u don't mind to have a very basic room but in good location, go for it!
Very close to Amsterdam night life and staff were very nice.
We had a non smoking room. It must of been a smoking room perviously or there is something wrong with the vents as our room reek of cigarettes.
The neighbourhood was nice, still walking distance to the center. Sink in the room was handy. Guy at the reception gave good tips on how to get to the airport the easiest
Shower one floor up, while not a massive inconvenience, was a bit unexpected. Was a bit noisy in the morning with soundproofing being a bit shabby between the rooms.
My room was dark, old, and even though appeared clean, certainly didn't smell like such :(
Clean, nice , great location, exactly what you need for a trip in Amsterdam!
Our double room was twin beds shoved together! A duvet over a thin blanket was the only cover, no sheet, the skinniest steep stairs and noisy till 4:00 AM!
Location, rain shower, modern bathroom, friendly staff. I liked the steep steps as it gave character but some may find them difficult to use.
I was in the basement and it was a bit dark. But fine as only spent time in the room sleeping!
Very central Clean and comfortable Very friendly staff
No full length mirror in the bedroom Steeps stairs to upper floors
No lobby area to rest Loud from the street may disturb you
Everything was ok, the stuff was very kind to me, explain me everything.
Next to the dolphin coffee shop
The stairs are crazy steep.
I took a great service. If I go to Amsterdam again, I will certainly stay there. It was easy to reach everywhere in the city. Maybe breakfast doesn't have a large variety but had vital nitrutions. My room was large enough for a single person.
They must do something for sound proof. I had a neighbour who was watching TV after midnight till the morning. When I wasn't drunk I couldn't sleep well.
Excellent location, polite and friendly staff, large room, modern room & bathroom! Would definitely visit again.
My only complaint would be that the stairs are a nightmare...a recommendation would be that if someone has physical health issues or elderly they are asked if they need a hand. Lucky we managed.
Location,friendly staff,old style historical build
The daytime receptionist was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel has an excellent location and good facilities. Very good value for money
The towels were quite small. They also forgot to put towels in one of the rooms and when we asked for them (for a 2nd time, I guess they forgot), the night receptionist was very rude and did not help us.
Good well heated room and comfortable beds. Location excellent. Very good value for money.
No drinks making facilities in rooms. Front rooms can be noisy at night. Stairs are for people with mountaineering experience!
- good location, close to city centre and pubs, bars, good place to stay if you are just looking for a bed after a long day/night out - clean room (but very small) - bed was comfortable
- some of the staff friendly, others not - there is only 1 person to manage the hotel, if this person is busy you have to wait outside untill you can check in, not a very welcoming feeling - there is only 1 toilet and 1 shower for the whole building, this means you have to wait a long time - very noisy in the hallway - breakfast looked a bit dull, but i didn't take it, plenty of other possibilities in the neighbourhood - rather expensive
There was strong and terribly bad smell in the room. I couldnot stand that smell. I donot know the cause of the smell. Execpet this smell, this hotel is very good for vallue.
The location was excellent. Very clean and a very comfortable bed.
The stairs down to the room were steep and narrow and had to be negotiated sideways to fit my feet on the steps. Very difficult with a suitcase! Booked a double, got two single beds (seperately made) just pushed together, so basically I had a single. Noisy on the morning from staff using the stairs constantly and banging the door on the store cupboard.
The location of the hotel was excellent, ok if you just want to sleep, shower and change clothes.
There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. A very small bottle of water will cost Euro 2.50 from reception. Breakfast cost Euro 10 each, a more substantial breakfast is available at any coffee house for about the same price. The hotel guests were mainly families with small children, so at times it was quite noisy.
