Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam    

Good location. There is a small swimming pool. Complimentary minibar. Overall, good 3* hotel.

There are stairs at entrance and nobody to help you with your luggage. Freezing temperature in the room and manipulating the climate control will not help. Room too small, no way you can pull a chair towards the desk - will have to write or use your laptop standing on your feet. Curtains will open automatically at 7 am, even if you never intended to wake up at that hour. At breakfast, they are too busy to meet and sit you - they will notice you later, when they need your room number. You can order an omlette or something like that, but nobody will tell you that - you will learn only when its too late - after you've finished your breakfast. Overall, everything is so old and shabby that it looks dusty and dirty even when it's actually clean.

Great staff, and the hotel had a wonderful ambience. The hotel is right downtown in the middle of everything. We had an excellent vacation here. It was a great experience.

Pretty much everything. The location was great and the hotel itself impressive. The Spa was excellent and the room was great

The only slight gripe was that the towels and dressing gowns in the rooms were rough feeling and looked old. Some new ones and less boil wash should fix it!

More than a hotel, an architectural gem. Excellent location: near railway station, but not too close busiest areas. Staff were excellent.

Extremely noisy in the room due to heavy traffic

A very old building where they have kept the theme well. The relaxation centre was excellent as were the staff.

While the room was tidy the bathroom needed a lot more attention.

- The building and its history - Room upgrade - Wellness (swimmingpool/sauna/ fitness) Ok and clean. - Mini-Bar all inclusive - Our room was big and very quiet. We agree after the checkout, the small discussion with the Director of rooms.

It is not a 5 stars because: - Concierge doesn't wait in front of the main door to keep us our luggages. - Reception not comfortable and without any confifdentiality. - Hotel and room not very clean (for example: a lot of dust on the carpet). - Poor room service because each time, he forgot somethings: bottles in the minibar, glasses, towels. He forget also in our room, the master keycard to access on the rooms. - No slippers but it was writting on the list of the room accomodations - Safety: on the corridors, several carpets are no longer glued and feet can get hooked. - The cabinet for the clothes is very small. We can only to place 5 hangers. - Only two hooks for towels and clothes in the bathroom. - From the bed, it was very difficult to see the TV. It was not correctly placed In conclusion: For us it is not a good experience and we think, it is for a lot of reasons a 3 stars (maximum). Be careful with the City Tax : 5,5%

The staff was great and very helpfull. The luxury room was good in size, decoration and cleaness. Bathroom was super comfortable with good size bath.

The matress was in bad condition on one side. The computers in the business center were too slow to use.

Room service excellent - enjoyed spa facilities

Welcome at reception was extremely poor. Waited 30 minutes for room to be prepared - not acceptable when booking 5 star hotel. Wasnt offered a drink whilst we were waiting - receptionist was quite dismissive as was conceirge

Amazing hotel in a fantastic location.

Had a wonderful time at this hotel and would go back tomorrow if I could! Everything was great and with the use of the spa and the complimentary mini bar and wi fi was great value considering the savings we made through booking.com!

The location is convenient

The building is old and has a very old smell to it. The hallways remind labyrinths and it's a little bit hard to find your room. Rooms were nothing special at all, especially for the price that you pay. We only stayed in this hotel because they advertised that they have whirlpool hot tubs in rooms, so we paid $400 to find out that those were regular bath tubs with no "whirlpool" found anywhere around .... Parking is "valet ".... Right behind the building for €50 a day .... Waste of time and money.

Bell-boys were so helpful

Very confusing to get around the hotel - needs more signs as everyone got lost many times.

Hotel room excellent, but not 5-Star, complimentary bar helped!

We have stayed in better 4* hotels, which have been much cheaper, and included breakfast. City tax was added, which made it very very expensive. When we left Staff were concerned with carrying new clients bags in, and not helping out one of our party who had difficulty carrying their bags No staff bothered with us then!

The spa

We chose the hotel because of its location and were not disappointed, most attractions were within walking distance. The room and beds were very clean and comfortable. Our room was right next to the bar and near the restaurant but we were not disturbed at all by any noise. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our stay was just perfect. Complimentary mini bar and coffee a bonus.

No enough wardrobe space for 2 people staying 5 nights.

Room rather dusty, I have stayed here 4 or 5 times, but standards seem to be dropping on last two visits This last ocassion the room was quite shabby

Very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable staff, combined with excellent facilities to give us a truly wonderful experience on our first visit to Amsterdam. We couldn't stay anywhere else in the city now! Although of superior quality, the pool, sauna, steam room, gym and Jacuzzi were never shared with more than two or three others!

Loved the big room facing the canal. It was quiet all the time. Excellent wifi which didn't require a daily password. Wonderful swimming pool and some gym equipment available. The free minibar was great. We got our room through a special deal with booking.com and it was excellent value for money. Awesome location, close to Central Station and lots of eateries.

We stayed in the same room as we did a year ago but this time it smelled of cigarette smoke.

It was a lovely environment and the accommodations very clean and comfortable. The free bar in room is a plus. There is an excellent restaurant and cafe. Over all a wonderful stay for my family.
