Loved the art deco architecture. Staff was great and the concierge did a great job answering questions and helping with reservations/booking tours. I liked the fact that breakfast buffet was offered later. Loved the free minibar - was nice after getting in late for drinks or waking up early for coffee or OJ. Loved the spa and the pool. Had a great massage. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would consider staying here again next time I'm in Amsterdam. Seems like I had to wait quite a while each time I needed to speak with the concierge. Not sure if there was only one working at all times? Hot tub wasn't hot, just warm.

The rooms were beautifully designed and big for Amsterdam. Very comfortable beds and well stocked mini bar. We did not try the food as the breakfast at 25 euros seemed expensive.

Beautiful Art Deco building alongside a lovely canal in the heart of Amsterdam. Offered step-up to canal-view rooms for 20 Euro per day. Concierge communicative and helpful prior to stay as well as throughout. Lovely hotel, excellent staff, and the in-room coffee and free internet are delightful - would return again!

A beautiful building, well appointed rooms and a sumptuous bed. Upgraded on our arrival. The free minibar was a real bonus too and the remote controlled curtains!!! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful with only one exception who was a bit surly with the Brits but seemed very chatty and friendly with the Dutch. Overall a superb experience and it's a hotel that's very high on our must return list. We had a Mozzy from Amsterdam in our room that feasted well on my wife on our first night. Had a bit of trouble explaining to the Concierge about obtaining some fly spray but eventually the Rooms Director met with us and all was sorted. Result - dead Mozzy later that evening! No complaint about the Concierge though - probably just a misunderstanding caused through translation

Not much actually. Generally standards for hotels in Europe are lower than us, particularly when you factor in the cost. Very Noisy, work out facility was not worth having. They shoudl convert the space to something else. Kind of like if you are going to serve eggs for breakfast, you shoud actually serve eggs.

Good in room facilities, helpful staff. The ventilation, although not loud, was persistant and became annoying.

Location very good, close to station, all activities.Free mini bar, Nespresso machine and wifi always good. Room very large, upgrade provided. Set menu in restaurant, not changed during 5 day stay. Expensive breakfast meant always went out for breakfast and because of set menu in restaurant was forced out every night for dinner.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, just few minutes walk away from the Central station and about 20 minutes walk from the Dam square. We used the wellness centre and it was really a pleasure to use the swimming pool, sauna etc. The lobby is very small and one has to wait for slightly long time to talk to the receptionist. Also a deposit of 100 Euros per night is blocked by the hotel which I think was not mentioned on the website. In my view this hotel should be 4 star and not 5 star.

Room comfort was excellent. Spa facilities were very good. Concierge most helpful. Situated in a quiet area, but still within easy walking distance of the city centre. TV reception was very poor. Housekeeping could have been a bit better. Curtains were opened and closed electronically - they had a habit of opening on their own now and again.

The hotel is in a beautiful building with a real sense of luxury. The staff can't do enough for you and the facilities are excellent. The rooms are furnished to an extremely high standard with everything you could possibly need. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again. The only thing I can comment on is one of the room service meals that we ordered. The steak sandwich was 50% fat but as soon as I mentioned it the charge for both the meals we ordered was credited to my account.

I booked our stay at the Grand Amrath Amsterdam based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and the description of the hotel as a "beautiful Art Deco building". And wow, I was not disappointed! This is truly a glorious, gorgeous building, Art Deco but in the Amsterdam style. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The location near the train station was very convenient to the Canal bus stops and the mass transit. Truly a fantastic experience--most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in. The location near the Central Station was convenient for accessing mass transit, but not the best for walking around if you are not particularly interested in the Red Light district. Also, in retrospect, I should have booked a higher room class, as our Deluxe Room was very small.

Definitely they were not helpfull at all. I wrote email at different times but they didn't answer my question and they didn't help me about anything. I dont advice this hotel. There is no humanity around. They are just after their profit. They are not customer oriented.

Good location. Nice Room. Large Bathroom. Helpful with taxi when I was in a hurry. Nice pool / sauna complex. The clock on the TV in the room was 20 mins behind. My breakfast which I ordered to be served in the room was not delivered until over half an hour late, so I was late for my meeting and stressed. I was not charged for the room service element but still had to pay for the breakfast. I expected more of an apology and further discount.
