Grand Hotel Central  

From our experience, it is hard to think of the good points, considering how big the bad points are, however I think the best thing about this hotel is its location, as it is a 10 minute walk from the station, and very central close to the shopping district and not far to walk to the river etc. Secondly, the breakfast at this hotel was the best I have ever had at any other hotel. There was so much choice, that even a non breakfast person would find something they would like to eat!

Being a student, and having stayed in numerous hostels some of which of very poor conditons and also having slept in tents very often, I would say I'm usually very easy to please and slow to complain about the conditions of accomodation. I was looking forward to staying in this hotel and with the price being more expensive than I usually pay, expected it to be of a high standard. On our first night we were placed in a central facing room which was big and 'clean' and the noise levels were very low, however we woke up with water pouring in our window, and after telling the staff, we were moved very quickly. The next room was of a similar standard but was facing the nightclub across the road, this was very loud, and if you are a light sleeper, will definitely effect your sleep. The following morning I woke up with ten bites on one foot, knowing they were not mosquito bites made the rest of my stay unconfortable. On the final morning, we found a bed bug, it was very big and although we could not find more, under the bed the hotel had placed a bug catching device. When we left we told the staff of this and nothing was done or said, we paid the bill and left thinking that in future we will probably stick to hostels!!

Location.

I got bitten alive in my room every night by some kind of insects and another person from another room was the same!! Each morning I woke I had more insect bites! Disgusting!!!

Very helpful and pleasant staff, Very good breakfast buffet (the best we have had in Rotterdam, having stayed in this city lots of times)

Good location, in the center of the city, good quality, warm room, tasty breakfast and all this with a very good price!!

It was very noisy during all the night, if it doesn't disturbs you - this hotel for you

The room there is large and clean. And the breakfast they offered is quite good.

The hotel was central, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms, sheets, towels etc were clean and tidy.

The hotel is ready for a bit of updating having said that it was excellent value for money.

Excellent breakfast until late. Great location. Free internet in reception.

Strange smell in the corridor around our room. Noisy club next door some nights. View onto back of next building.

A well organized hotel operations attributable to the extensive experience. Good and healthy breakfast, comfortable room and friendly staff.

The hotel needs to fix the telephone problem though, and perhaps redecorate the lobby area is in order

Grand Hotel Central has very friendly and helpful staff. The room is simple but sufficient. The lady owner invites everybody for a free drink in her jolly bar! The breakfast is excellent and included in the price! This hotel is smack in the middle of town which makes it an excellent place for shopping.

The T.V did not seem to work properly

The breakfast is good and the room is clean. Location is good, close to central station.

I was quite worried because of the comments on booking.com but I think i'm the few lucky ones. Didn't smell anything about the renovations but true that there're little insects.

Access. Security to bedrooms ? Accidentally went to room on another floor and my Keycard opened door

The hotel is very well located close to the train station, in a shopping area and the staff was very friendly.

The room is in dire need of refurbishment, it lacked basics (such as hotel information and hand soap) and the carpet was dirty.
