WestCord Hotel Schylge

The location is truly ideal, just on top of the yacht port and only 10 minutes walking distance from the main harbour. The breakfast is also worth mentioning. The breakfast room offers a great view of the port. It's really pleasant to sit at a table next to the window and just stare at the sun rising above the sea whil eating a nice croissant. The bread choice is also excellent! If it's raining during your stay as it was on one of the afternoons we were there, you can also always unwind in the Sauna.

The toilet seat was broken.

The location of the hotel is great. Very close to the harbour (you can actually walk from the place the ferry drops you to the hotel). I also loved the fact that you can rent bikes at the hotel and drop them off at the harbour when you leave while the bike rental company brings your luggage at the harbour at the specified time for free. The swimming pool is small but nice.

The hotel has rooms with a view to the sea and rooms with a view to the road. I have no idea why someone would want to have a view to the road. I asked for a room with a view to the sea but did not get one because of last minute booking. I was kind of dissapointed because we did such a long way to get there and we had to see the road from our room balcony at the end of the day.... By the way, very few foreigners on this island ... it seems it is only Dutch tourists visiting...When I said I am Greek, people looked shocked:-)

Het ontbijt in het hotel was echt subliem!! We hebben heerlijk gegeten, alles was er (verschillende soorten brood, koffie, thee, melk, sapjes, yoghurt, maar ook muffins, croissants en cranberry specialiteiten) en van alles was genoeg. De kussens op het bed waren heerlijk en we hebben dan ook prima geslapen. De badkamer was prima met bad en aparte douche. Zeer complete kamer (superior room geloof ik).

Zoals vele andere hotels verhuurt hotel Schylge fietsen in samenwerking met één van de vele fietsverhuurders op het eiland. Deze standaard fietsen welke te krijgen zijn in het hotel, zijn in te wisselen bij de fietsverhuurder in het dorp. Dit is naar onze mening ook wel nodig, want wij hebben spierpijn en letterlijk blaren gekregen op ons zitvlak vanwege de harde zadels...

Ligging is prachtig. Uniek uitzicht bij het ontbijt, wat overigens ook zeer verzorgd is!

Alles was positief, maar het uitstekende ontbijt in de serre met uitzicht op de baai was wel heel speciaal. Ook het a la carte restaurant is van hoog niveau, het eten daar is voortreffelijk en de bediening navenant

Met name tijdens diner de correcte, maar toch informele bediening. Niet afstandelijk zoals te doen gebruikelijk in veel elegenheden. Ondanks grote groep van een bedrijf toch rustige, gemoedelijke sfeer.En wij dachten toch stellig dat Schylge allen met een c/of k werd geschreven i.p.v. sch.

Op dat moment was het redelijk rustig en de service van het personeel was prima. Ook de kamer was schoon en stijlvol met goede bedden. Het restaurant absoluut een aanrader; niet goedkoop, maar de kwaliteit uitstekend!
