Well... I've got a lot to say, but I'll try to make it brief.
Firstly, I'm the Editor-in-Chief of a well known Fashion / Make-up Magazine. I hired their best two rooms and we had a Photo shoot in the Hotel and on location in the surrounding areas.
I informed 3 members of staff that this was my intention, and it was confirmed that notes were on file. OK so far.
However, upon arrival of my Models, Make-up Artist and Fashion Designer, I was challenged regarding my authorisation to have a Photo Shoot.
This was extremely embarrassing, disrespectful and insulting in front of my team and clients. The 'Receptionist' was rather rude, and I felt as if I were being 'told off' like a naughty School Child. My Make-up Artist also informed me that she was treated in the same manner.
The Manager was called and he came to meet me, Mr. Erwin Meuldijk. Now, in all fairness, he was quite a nice guy - regardless that he probably should have been paying 'me' to bring 9 other people into his hotel to spend money, and for the exposure that photo shoots undoubtedly create.
However, the reality was, that I had to pay a further €20 to keep one of my rooms for a few hours longer (so as the Models could get changed) and the other room, we were swiftly 'kicked out' from at literally 11:02am. And quite aggressively too. Yet again, I felt as if I should sit on the 'Naughty Step'.
The place was dead. The Bar didn't open until 4pm, and asking for extra coffee and milk was greeted by a reaction similar (I expect) to as if I'd asked to sacrifice their first born child.
Overall. My team, friends and I felt unwelcome and under-serviced.
It was almost as if they were doing us a favour, and had forgotten that we'd paid good money to be there.
I'm not going to credit the hotel in my publication either, they simply do not deserve it. And I shall never return again.
It's on a boat, on the river.
