The rooms was 3 connected cells combined. There's no doors in the room or between the cells...no, not for the bathroom area either...

Nice personnel, comfortable rooms, free and large parking and good location close to the old town.

Shower was open so it is colder there than in the closed one.

Fantastic design of the old prison as an up market hotel, well thought out and presented. The staff were also very friendly and professional. Breakfast was first rate!

It has a good central location and excellent, efficient, helpful reception staff. Brilliant, contemporary conversion of an old prison. Deluxe Cell No2 is a good size with a large double bed, separate single duvets and a good amount of storage, plus safe. Some English channels on the TV. Super shower (no bath), and a toilet tucked around the far corner of a 'corridor' bathroom; a large sink unit is inbetween shower & toilet. There is a plain glass door which some may not like. In the main we kept it open, as it was easy to unwittingly walk into it! It needs some etching or film attached to it to avoid an accident. The room is on the ground floor and has picture windows on two sides which look out onto public areas, a corridor and a terrace. Blinds need to be lowered for privacy, but still allow light in and a 'fuzzy'view out. We had no problems with that. The food was very good and there is secure parking. Breakfast was excellent. good selection of fresh breads, cereals etc., and you could order something cooked if required. We had lovely cheerful waitress on our first morning - Yvonne V.B. She deserves a mention.

The only gripe was the service at dinner. Probably a misunderstanding, but we were given the impression the only menus available were 4, 5 or 6 courses. We weren't handed menus. The waitress just explained, as best she could, what was available, whilst clutching what I believed to be the menus in her arms. We chose the 4 course menu, with some alterations due to dislikes. As it turned out, as well as those courses, we had 3 appetisers and a good portion of bread. The bread was only brought with the first course. We'd have appreciated it earlier, but more of that later. Courses could be regarded as small, but we were struggling with dessert by the end. While waiting for our first course, the restaurant manager delivered an aperitif to the table. I queried whether there was an a la carte menu. She confirmed there was and produced a book of menus. She offered to cancel our order if we wanted a la carte instead. We declined, mainly because we had been waiting 45 minutes since we entered the restaurant and couldn't bear waiting any longer. That bread would have been handy if produced when we sat down! The service was painfully slow, and there wasn't that many in the restaurant, however I accept a number were on the terrace rather than in the restaurant. Even so, it took 2hrs 20 mins to complete the meal, and that included nearly an hour before we ate anything! We declined coffee. Having said all that, I'd certainly go back to this prison and just hope dinner service was a blip.

Bathroom without a door inside the room is uncomfortable you feel not relax and not good for family my breakfast options are simple I recommend hotel for singel pepole how not sharing room with athores

Unique conversion from a gaol, originally. Beautiful interior design, lovely fresh flower arrangements in all reception rooms. Great food and lovely, welcoming and friendly staff... Would certainly stay there again.

Everything - the staff were fantastic and friendly. A very genuine rare establishment that could not do too much. The food was absolutely fantastic and the rooms were an excellent quirky design! The hotel was not pretentious in any way and was very welcoming.

Loved the authenticity of the building, has lots of character and style! De luxe rooms have got plenty of space and rain showers, coffeemachine etc. Delicious breakfast in the morning with lots to choose from. Personnel is very friendly and helpful.

Overall a fantastic experience, but could be somewhat cheaper!

Very friendly staff and very attractive unusual style (a refurbished former prison). Good informations by the staff on activities and restaurants in Roermond. Their restaurant was unfortunately fully booked
