Hotel HeynenBroekhem 40, 6301 HJ Valkenburg (Show map) Very good, Score from 195 reviews“Room is very spacious and clean, bathroom is very modern and cleaan, nice family owned hotel. Breakfast is like you would get it at your mother, so made with love and nothing fancy, but more than enough. 10-15 minute walk to the main street with bars and restaurants. Free private parking.”

The Heynen hotel is a small family hotel with 15 rooms all with private facilities. It has been run by the same family for three generations. The hotel offers comfortable rooms and a tasty breakfast. Breakfast packages are available as well. Hotel Heynen is near by the center of Valkenburg (a 10 minute walk away) and 8 miles from Maastricht. The hotel is an ideal start for your walk, bike or shopping vacation or to visit a Christmas market. We enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly. We were informed upon arrival that we had to pay in cash. I commented that there was nothing listed on booking.com stating that and was told that there was. I checked my paperwork and website. The only thing I found was "This hotel accepts the following forms of payment" and nothing followed.

The owners were lovely, happily gave us local information and maps, and the room was spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage space for our luggage and clothes. Large television (of course we only ever had it on the music channel while getting ready in the morning!) Location not bad either- ten minute stroll into town centre and to train station (if carrying a lot of luggage I'm 99% sure there is a bus from the station that goes past the hotel). Breakfast was continental style, personally brought to our table - very fresh and all the bread we could eat! Christmas decorations filled the reception area and dining room. Gorgeous! A very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

A true family-run inn that makes you feel welcome, yet leaves you to your privacy. I honestly felt cared for, with the greetings as I came and went. The breakfast was very thoughtful and carefully presented. The place is spotlessly clean, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a speck of dust anywhere. My room was #11, two flights up. I had a closet with plenty of hangers, an ensuite with shower, some minimal amenities (shoe shine, shampoo packet), plenty of white towels in good condition, my own window, television and phone. There was a table with two chairs, a smattering of the usual hotel art, and surprisingly, a luggage rack in the closet. The bed was two twin mattresses smooshed next to each other, a common arrangement in Europe. I was solo, so one mattress just served as a big shelf for my stuff. This room would have been a bit tight for two, but it was fine for one. I was in Valkenburg for the famed Christmas market in the caves, and I mistakenly thought the town was so small that any hotel would be close to everything. Hotel Heynen is 1000 steps (I counted!) from the edge of town, and it's another 500 steps to the center where all the Christmasy stuff is going on. This is not the ideal location for the market. It is located on the old main road to Maastricht, and as the hotel has parking in the back, it would be ideal if you had a car, very easy access. But I really tired of that walk after about the third time. Unfortunately, I had a final most unwelcome walk the morning of check out, when I was informed that I could pay with "only cash." Gee, you make a reservation with a credit card, you think you can pay that way too. I had to walk the 1000 steps to the nearest cash machine, then back, then back to town again to catch my train. My legs started to hurt. I suggested to the innkeeper that signage indicating cash only would be most helpful. She was surprised that her husband had not informed of this upon arrival, so it was a slip-up, but one that need not be repeated if the policy was more clearly stated, with signage at the desk or clearly marked in the room. Other than this annoying error, I'd say the staff is top notch and very pleasant to be around.

Quiet, cosy and well kept hotel without luxury. Nice to have an breakfast at your table (instead of a buffet to take yourself). Nothing to complain about. What you see is what you get.

Excellent value for money. My friend stayed in a nearby hotel and did not get as big a room with the amenities mine had and he paid more than I did. I have stayed in this hotel many times. I have also stayed in others and for this price range its a great hotel.

Breakfast is like you would get it at your mother, so made with love and nothing fancy, but more than enough. 10-15 minute walk to the main street with bars and restaurants. Free private parking. 2 separate beds that move easily so if you are planning on falling a sleep in the arms of your loved one you should lie on 1 bed. But the beds are very comfortable!

Prima prijs/kwalititeit.
