It was a nice district of Amsterdam, close to the centre, but clean and calm at the same time. Our room was located just in front of the garden of the hotel, therefore all the convertations and voices were literally in the room.. And the room itself was like a basement.. Staff was really deficient. We were ill- informed in so many situations.

great location on a side street near voldenpark. that's why it is quiet. but pretty far from central station. there is a tram stop nearby the hotel. number 1 gets you to center in 10 minutes! also the hotel has got a lot of books, summer terrace, big living room, where we dance together when all of guests were already sleep) you need to warm your room up before sleep there by turning on the radiator. but it's ok! everything was just fine.

Friendly staff Though we booked the hotel beforehand (a couple of months before the trip) and asked for two rooms next or close to each other (as a family of parents with two children) which was directly indicated in the booking, the hotel provided us with two rooms on different floors! One of them on "-1" floor (with windows right under the seeling) and the other one on the 1st floor with a window that could be easily opened from inside same as outside! The hotel absolutely requires renovation. Very poor breakfast for high price. Though we stayed for 3 nights, the shampoos were provided only once and never renewed. Extremely high price for such poor quality and not the best location!

Location near Vondelpark and tram line 1 We asked for quiet room already when booking. Our room #2 was under corridor from reception to breakfast room, so all steps were clearly heard day and night and hotel was fully booked. We were given another room #20 for rest of stay which was supposed to be with bath, but was not. Room was also very small and the bed was collapsed.

Clean room with high ceiling. Good degree of privacy. Unintrusive staff. The villa we stayed in looked poorly maintained -epecially he entrance and corridor ..cracked paint etc. The toilet in our bedroom also looked tired and worn out.

It is a very inferior hotel. The shower had no curtain but had a partition about 18 inches wide-- the whole bathroom (which was miniscule anyway) was soaked for every shower, and there was no bath. The mattress was all huge lumps. Some of the staff was unbelievably rude. There were so many things wrong it was unbelievable. Fodor's gives a good rating, but I assure you, it was a lousy hotel.

The staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. There is a charming bar in the hotel and a lovely garden inside. The locations is good, close to the city center by tram or by foot (5 min). Good internet signal in the rooms and lift. The breakfast was expensive and there wasn't hairdryer in the room (but one could borrow form the front desk).

Very well placed for visiting the excellent museums in Amsterdam. An interesting building with an excellent garden combined with a pleasant easy atmosphere. Our room was in a poor decorative state and rather small but the bathroom was fine. Breakfast was expernsive for what you got.

We liked the location near to Vondelpark and ease of access to the city without being in the busy centre.Staff were very pleasant on checking in and out. We had booked a deluxe/superior room and we were disappointed at the size and also the dark decor - room 18 - which was not at all what we had expected from the website pictures.

Friendly staff, good location next to the park. Tiny bathroom with no dedicated shower. Wifi not available in rooms, only in lobby. Thin walls, so lots of noise from the lobby and outside.

The room was named "nature" and it was pretty good! The bed was very comfortable and the sight from the window great! As far as our experience is concerned everything was very nice, so I doubtless suggest this hotel to everyone. Nothing

The bathroom and shower size - very small. Cleanliness - although the carpet and bedding all looked hoovered/cleaned, the room had a grubby feel to it. The radiators were dirty and all around the sockets and anywhere that you couldn't clean easily looked dirty. Traffic noise could also be heard from the road.

The room is large and close to trams and park. Bathroom of the suite is big. Internet does not work. The suites are on the other side of the road and there is no elevator. Tiny syeps and huge inclination, almost impossible to take the suitcase. Staff is not very friendly and not helpfull.

The room was very quiet except at about 4 am in the morning when people where hooting and talking loudly out in the garden, right below our window.. The staff were very helpful with restaurant choices. The room was very small. There was nowhere to put clothes that were unpacked. The only window in the room was located way from the bed part of the room, so basically there was no view whatsoever. The shower was just a torrent from the centre of the showerhead--no adjustment was possible. In other words the shower did not work properly. Most importantly, we found the room price excessive for the quality of the room.

When I had breakfast I saw a philosophical test. I mentally answered to the questions, and I checked. The questions were relatively easy for me, although I don't pretend to be an expert. But sometimes the texts were misleading. They mentioned the negative answer of Darwin about the request of Marx of a dedication to him for his book Das Kapital. The next question was about Darwin. They asked "What did Darwin study in 1831?". The answer is theology. But after Darwin got a degree in medicine; and the evidence for natural evolution is compelling, according to Richard Dawkins and many Nobel prizes for medicine. As a peaceful man and humble writer in the fields of philosophy and psychology, I couldn't ask the same to Italo Calvino, author of the American lessons, and to Friedrich Nietzsche, who was charmed by natural evolutionism in Die frohliche wissenschaft. I hope that their scholars will forgive me. I don't know anything of German language. But with Dutch language I have some hope. Conversations in the hotel were wonderful.
