Firealarms in room and breakfast room supersensitive; heating in breakfast room nit working. The hotel has seen better times.
The hotel is just like John Green describes in TFIOS. We stayed in the Satre room. My 11 year old daughter loved it and we were made to feel very welcome.
Kind and helpful staff, especially recepsionist Gulya
Good value, excellent location
wifi was bad. Got a room at 3d floor, and staff didnt point at the elevator, had to climb with a huge bag up the narrow steep stairs. stumbled into elevator by accident. was upset at a time :D
The reception colleagues were helpful and friendly and made you feel at ease , nothing was too much bother The beds and the pillows were so comfy ,, loved the quotes of the day in the lift
Would have liked tea and coffee facilities in room
We stayed in this hotel because it was featured in a movie. We knew we wouldn't get a room like the movie because we payed much less! However I liked the quirkiness of the hotel. It wasn't luxury but that wasn't what we went for. It was a good location, a place to sleep and the themed room was a novelty and added to the experience. The hotel overall is rather tacky but in the best possible way. I'd stay again and I do recommend it.
The beds were hard! After walking around all day though my body didn't seem to care. Bathrooms are tiny (like that of a caravan) but clean, towels were a bit stained, decor is dated
The public rooms. The staff left you alone.
Strange smell in the bsthroom. evrrything else fine.
Great location, comfortable small hotel
- Style of rooms. - Cosy atmosphere. - Great living room type of lounge and garden to hang out with group of friends. - Two minutes walk to trainway. - Two minutes walk to Vondel Park.
- Rooms can be renovated a bit...
quiet room to court yard
no shower curtain/ - door no hairdryer
We liked the location. Very handy to the park, museums, restaurants, shopping. Tram nearby. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel was warm and there were comfortable seats and tables to sit at in several areas.
The decor is dull, tired and dated. No tea or coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. Our en-suite bathroom was very small and old. The shower was a bit dodgy over the bath with a long stretch over the sink to get to the squirty soap. The lighting was terrible for putting on makeup.
Big room. Hot shower and room heater. No 1 tram straight from Amsterdam Central. Friendly staff. Very clean room.
10 mins walk to nearest tram station. A bit far with large suitcase in freezing weather. Room given was in basement. No lift and staircase very steep with tight corridor. Tough for large suitcases. No electric jug or hair dryer.
The room was really quiet and comfortable. Not far from a tram stop. The staff were always really polite and helpful.
Some of the decor was a bit shabby. Also would have appreciated some tea / coffee making facility in the room. The stairs are extremely treacherous when carrying heavy bags up and down.
The radiator in the room didn't worked
Loved the decoration and the small details. I booked a "deluxe" room but received a small room "nearly" without a window. Fortunately the nice lady in the reception was able to give me another room and our stay was very nice.
The carpets in the rooms are old and not very clean.
The staff here are very friendly and well equipped to deal with teenagers who are obsessed with the film "The Fault in our Stars" that was filmed here. Location is good enough, it's about a 10 minute brisk walk to Leidseplein so close enough to the vibrant city centre but far enough out that you have peace and quiet at night.
The only negative I can find is the bed in our room was uncomfortable, however we had two separate rooms and the second bed was fine!
- location is just 30 minutes to airport - near the Vondel park
- lots of noise from neighbours, hallway, creaky stairs etc - single room is very small and basic
Beautifully located, this hotel has everything needed to enjoy a placent stay. Friendly staff always willing to help, great rooms and perfect location close to Amsterdam's best museums. The decoration of the hotel is based on philosophy and philosophers giving it a very unique and distinct look and atmosphere.
absolutely not 3 starts, i booked hotel for a business trip, based on wifi facilities and reviews. Single rooms are smaller then 10 meters and resemble more a dogs cave, light is no bright in all rooms. not possible to read or work. Wifi was not working not in ANY of 4 rooms which i was suggested. even in the Suite wifi was not working at all, even after they restarted all. Suite was big enough and comfortable enough, but NO wifi. very old furniture all in crashes. design....well, hard to give a name to a strange taste, but i had a feeling that its a storage of old furniture from other hotels rather a designers solutions. breakfast i did not risk to try. personal was assisting and helpful trying to solve issues but they simply dont have anything good in the hotel to manage expectations
Breakfast was excellent. WiFi Well appreciated
Bed was too soft/old? I solved this by putting the mattras on the Floor?
Location, price , staff
Very small rooms
A building set in an elegant part of the city with an informal and welcoming atmosphere.
The interiors felt a bit tired and some of the cleaning could have been a bit more thorough!
Hotel is very shabby, run down and dirty . We had to be moved from our first room, which had mould on the ceiling, the curtains were black with dirt, there was dust on all surfaces and I would question whether it had been cleaned as there was an invoice from earlier in the week lying on the floor. The staff didn't seem at all surprised when I comained .We were moved to a tiny twin room for one night as that was all that was free and then to another double room which was ok. The breakfast which costs 15 euro is fairly pathetic. Our breakfast was given for free but it was so disappointing we preferred to go out on day 2 and pay for it elsewhere. This hotel is not cheap but is a dump. Avoid.
The reason why my friend and I wanted to go to Amsterdam was because of The Fault In Our Stars. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were friendly and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do.
You really do get what you paid for. As students we couldn't afford the TFIO experience so we had the cheaper room. It was dusty, and we had a few creepy crawlies with us near the bed and on the ceiling. Not the best thing to wake up to.
