Very bad bathroom
Walking distance to the museums, casino, and canal tour.
Long distance to airport
Helpful staff. Location not bad, easy to access tram stop.
Shabby room. Stale air. In need of renovation. Lumpy bed. Miniscule bathroom. Safe does not work. No hairdryer in room.
the staff were all cheerful, helpful and couldn't do enough to help. the location was good.
the bedroom was not very clean, the carpets were dirty and warn and the room had a foisty odour that was unpleasant.
Beautiful stairway quirky, creative style
Some people may think it is not clean or luxurious enough but it has more of a casual aesthetic, with a little effort it could be upgraded to a more luxuriou boutique hotel
Excellent quiet location by Vondelpark within walking distance of Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum and with nearby frequent trams to City Centre. Hotel not plush but friendly and clean.
There is a reason why we have stayed here so often! The location is excellent. Close to tram 1. Staff very pleasant. Hotel always quiet. Good eateries nearby. Rooms all so individual.
Rooms are looking a bit sad - could do with a bit of paint, but keep the individuality!
Short distance to the city center and museums. The room was lovely.
It said wifi included, but we never got any. They told us we had to go to the lobby to use it, but we stayed at an apartment down the street.
Great staff, friendly and really helpful, good location, local area full of great places to eat, two minutes walk from the beautiful vondelpark, great for a walk after dinner, only two stops on tram to the center of action. One short train ride and 5 stops on tram from the airport with good timing can do it in half an hour.nice cosy rooms with comfy beds, peaceful sleep
Amsterdam is an expensive city to eat,as are most city's but the breakfast priced at 15 euros per person was a bit too much,if it was around 10 euros the breakfast room would be full.the only other thing was possibly a better tv for the rooms .
The location close to Museum district.
We were unaware that this hotel is made up of several properties and our room was located across the street in a house with no hotel facilities. We had a Triple delux room, one double bed, one single, the single bed was very narrow and not suitable for more than a short stay.
Very nice location, nice garden which we unfortunately could not use as it was rainy. Booked because our daughter read 'the fault in our stars' and we liked the drawings and philosophical sayings.
Room was very smelly and not that comfortable.
The hotel is a lovely place with lots of character, the staff are wonderful and friendly and eager to help! The beds are an absolute dream, so comfortable!!
When we arrived we found the hotel had been overbooked, so our first night was spent in a room with two tiny single beds! The next night we were moved into a double though, and given a free drink for the trouble! I also asked for a bath tub but they seemed to ignore that request :(
The room was not clean The bed is old & uncomfortable
The location next to the park. Plenty of great bars, restaurants and cafe's nearby. Easy tram links. Great character in the room and building.
The bed - very old and sagging, needs replacing. The carpet. The sheets not being changed daily.
Loved the deck in back and huge windows in front. Loved the staff, everyone was super friendly and helpful
Wifi was very weak and hardly usable.
Fantastic staff Location very easy to main no1 tram line Quiet and safe area
Slightly dated rooms but very comfy Two rooms were opposite sides of road
Nothing, except Gulja, who helped as.
The room in the third, attic floor did not meet the stated conditions: no conditioner, no hairdryer, no refrigerator and very small with shabby furniture. However, after we asked for help, they gave us a ventilator, hairdryer and a bottle of wine as a compensation for some trouble. Because of this the first impression of the city was spoilt, but we liked Amsterdam all the same.
Excellent location. Right next to beautiful Vogel park and Riejks and Van Gogh Museums, as well as restaurants and shops. A quaint, well located hotel.
Good location for the Vondelpark and tram. Room well decorated. Good wifi connection. Staff enthusiastic when I mentioned being there for the hotel's involvement in The Fault in Our Stars, plus provided free bookmarks and location map.
Noise from staff at 10pm outside room/nearby supply closet. TV did not work properly. Bin was not emptied during my three-night stay.
The location. The suite was comfortable.
We were "upgraded" to a dingy basement room and a nice suite. We asked if all 3 of us could move into the suite but they would not sort this out until the second day and we ended up paying for both rooms.
Nice location near Vondelpark. Unusual place with rooms more like an apartment than a hotel. Very quiet and staff helpful.
Beware dust allergy sufferers! Carpet and curtains are cleaned rarely if ever!
Well located on a quiet street near Vondelpark and close to town
1. Hotel room was in an annexe across road from hotel. 2. steep staircase and no lift 3. No tea/coffee facilities hairdryer etc in room 4. Safe in room did not work.
The location. It's very close to Vondelpark and many museums. You can walk to most sights from there. The hotel garden was also lovely. Although the seats were full of bird poo and were obviously never cleaned.
For that sort of money (we paid 138 EUR per night per room) you'd expect luxury. I actually had better accommodation for 30 EUR once in Norway! Even a youth hostel was better than this. We were all given tiny rooms thats would have even been too small for a single person let alone couples (our group consisted of 2 couples and 2 friends in 3 rooms altogether). You had to really try hard to climb into your bed without injuring yourself and it was a bed for 1 rather than 2 persons. The bathroom was also so tiny you'd bang your head all the time. The hotel was smelly (humidity smell) in many places) and the carpets looked rotten. They always forgot to give us towels and we had to phone up several times each day before we got any. Also only 1 toothbrush glass for 2 people. No space to put your stuff, not even space for your towels in the bathroom let alone your toiletries. The bin couldn't be opened, so you could only put your things on top. They never brought a new one as promised either and the rubbish was never taken away. The hairdryers were terrible, too. And it was very noisy. And up on the 3rd floor you'd be very trapped in a fire as it is all so narrow. Breakfast would be ok for 5 or 7 EUR but certainly not for 15 EUR. Completely overpriced. We realised soon why they had requested us to pay on arrival before seeing the rooms as we'd never paid the full amount once we'd see them. Our friends were from England and had arrived 1 day before us. By the time we arrived they had already complained (which is very rare for English people to do as far as I know!) and were moved into slightly bigger and better rooms. We got a bigger and better room from the second day on, too. But of course it was still not great and not worth that sort of money. Those on the bottom level had it even worse as there rooms had been flooded by a thunderstorm and were knee-deep in water.
