The radiator in the room didn't worked
Loved the decoration and the small details. I booked a "deluxe" room but received a small room "nearly" without a window. Fortunately the nice lady in the reception was able to give me another room and our stay was very nice.
The carpets in the rooms are old and not very clean.
The staff here are very friendly and well equipped to deal with teenagers who are obsessed with the film "The Fault in our Stars" that was filmed here. Location is good enough, it's about a 10 minute brisk walk to Leidseplein so close enough to the vibrant city centre but far enough out that you have peace and quiet at night.
The only negative I can find is the bed in our room was uncomfortable, however we had two separate rooms and the second bed was fine!
- location is just 30 minutes to airport - near the Vondel park
- lots of noise from neighbours, hallway, creaky stairs etc - single room is very small and basic
Beautifully located, this hotel has everything needed to enjoy a placent stay. Friendly staff always willing to help, great rooms and perfect location close to Amsterdam's best museums. The decoration of the hotel is based on philosophy and philosophers giving it a very unique and distinct look and atmosphere.
absolutely not 3 starts, i booked hotel for a business trip, based on wifi facilities and reviews. Single rooms are smaller then 10 meters and resemble more a dogs cave, light is no bright in all rooms. not possible to read or work. Wifi was not working not in ANY of 4 rooms which i was suggested. even in the Suite wifi was not working at all, even after they restarted all. Suite was big enough and comfortable enough, but NO wifi. very old furniture all in crashes. design....well, hard to give a name to a strange taste, but i had a feeling that its a storage of old furniture from other hotels rather a designers solutions. breakfast i did not risk to try. personal was assisting and helpful trying to solve issues but they simply dont have anything good in the hotel to manage expectations
Breakfast was excellent. WiFi Well appreciated
Bed was too soft/old? I solved this by putting the mattras on the Floor?
Location, price , staff
Very small rooms
A building set in an elegant part of the city with an informal and welcoming atmosphere.
The interiors felt a bit tired and some of the cleaning could have been a bit more thorough!
Hotel is very shabby, run down and dirty . We had to be moved from our first room, which had mould on the ceiling, the curtains were black with dirt, there was dust on all surfaces and I would question whether it had been cleaned as there was an invoice from earlier in the week lying on the floor. The staff didn't seem at all surprised when I comained .We were moved to a tiny twin room for one night as that was all that was free and then to another double room which was ok. The breakfast which costs 15 euro is fairly pathetic. Our breakfast was given for free but it was so disappointing we preferred to go out on day 2 and pay for it elsewhere. This hotel is not cheap but is a dump. Avoid.
The reason why my friend and I wanted to go to Amsterdam was because of The Fault In Our Stars. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were friendly and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do.
You really do get what you paid for. As students we couldn't afford the TFIO experience so we had the cheaper room. It was dusty, and we had a few creepy crawlies with us near the bed and on the ceiling. Not the best thing to wake up to.
The rooms are all different, very quirky and comfortable. The outside garden is beautiful. Its not the Ritz but its very sweet and you great value. The staff are amazing, so so friendly, so helpful. Really lovely
Rooms are a little dated and in need of new carpets / a lick of paint. Wifi doesnt work in every room
The location is the best, very convenient to get to the museum areas, taking trams to get to the other major attraction sites.
The breakfast starts 7:30am during weekday and 8:00am for weekends, which is a bit late. Considering the price of breakfast, the choices are limited. The quality of Free wifi at the room is very poor, and often disconnect.
On arrival at 14.00 the room had not been cleaned and the bed was unmade; despite notifying reception this was not addressed until 18.00. They gave us a complimentary breakfast the next morning.
Very comfortable rooms and feels like a home away from home. We spent a very happy morning playing chess in the lounge fuelled with great hot chocolate and coffee..rather than going out, testament to the nice atmosphere of the hotel.
The decoration could do with some care and maintenance but otherwise a really lovely hotel
Position was very good for the museums we came to see; staff at the desk courteous and efficient; and the streets nearby interesting to walk down. Thank heavens for the lift - and the amusing thoughts for the day we found in them. Civilised atmosphere.
Dirty carpet in the room (27); foam-filled, and unusable pillows, request for alarm-call ignored (but we did wake up) and lack of proper sitting space in the room. This was not quite three-star as we know it.
I had a large suite, so very comfortable - though I had to climb 40 narrow stairs to reach it. Location gave me a new view of the city due to being outside the centre
Small side window behind very heavy curtain left open one day by the maid. I wasn't aware of it, but a mosquito was, and I was bitten three times !
good location, helpful staff, near tram stop, balcony
toilet not so clean, very small room, in need of renovation
Location very good and good public transport to get you most places quickly
Just looks like the whole place could do with a revamp - tired looking.
Location was good and felt very qauintessential northern European. Was clean and good value for money. Quiet neighborhood.
Room was small and bed tilted a bit. Would have liked tub or at least a larger bathroom but our goal was to appreciate and embrace a new culture and not expect the same comforts of our home. Breakfast not included but knew that ahead of time.
Nice hotel perfect near by the centrum of Amsterdam
The cleaning of the room in 5 days no cleaning We did every day sleeping out so the do not clean the room They did do it after we left That is not good Al did they do the room once
Nice location on overtoom, good access to tram and all popular tourist locations. Staff also very helpful
Needs a revamp, decor a bit dated
Very bad bathroom
