Hotel Die Raeckse  

We decided to stay in Haarlem and not amsterdam. So pleased with did, Haarlem is a picture post card quiant town. Why bother with amsterdam!! if this is how you want to remember Holland then come here and this hotel is perfect for one or two nights.

Location near bus stop to airport and Amsterdam South. Lots of shops and restaurants in town centre nearby, including supermarket across the road. Clean room and toilets. Breakfast was good.

No lift. Narrow stairs. Thin ceiling; can hear plumbing of upstairs.

Room had odd smell to it - like cat urine. Thin walls - could hear neighbors. Food was so-so. Very, very expensive for what you get in return.

It was reasonable (price). The staff was helpful, friendly. Breakfast was better than expected (by this price range). Stairs were lovely (altough very deep). Location of the hotel is good.

It was cold, very cold (actually, I would say the same about the whole country:-) - next time I shouldn't travel in November.

Very tired decor, awful plumbing, lethal stairs, difficult to find at night due to roads around the hotel being closed to car traffic.

Shower and toilet facilities were across the corridor, but they were private and not shared. The steep stairs, so typical in Holland, could be a problem with heavy bags

The silence, service and atmosphere the breakfast not great but good. Now they have opened a small bar where you can 'eat at noon. the food is made with attention to detail. I'll be back.

It is situated in the middle of the town. Parking at Raeckse garage is just around the corner, like all nightlife places to go. The beds and showers are good. The staff is friendly. We had the three persons room (room 36). The window could stay open all night and has a limited view on a quite street.

The hotel is reasonable priced, so do not expect an extensive breakfast. It is okay, but limited.

the best aspect was its location in Haarlem and the fact that it was a family operated facility and they were nice.

small twin beds, and the fact that the wireless did not reach my room. its really more of a hostel than a full hotel. that said they are nice and it was sufficient if not particularly cheap which was probably more to do with a conference that weekend. not worth 90 euro a night!

This is a nice hotel that seems to be operated by a family. It is across the street from an Albert Heijn (grocery store), and within a short walk of the Grote Kerk of St Bavo, the Jopen Kerk (a micro brewery) and the Frans Hals museum. You can't get a better location if Haarlem is your destination. I attend a conference each year in Amsterdam and because I made the decision to go only two weeks before the conference, not much was available in Amsterdam. So I looked in Haarlem and found Hotel Die Raekse. The walk to Haarlem Centraal Station is 15 minutes, and the train to Amsterdam is about 15 more. It's 3.80 Euros each way to Amsterdam Centraal Station. I can only say that this little hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff (owners?) are very pleasant. The place is spotless. They go out of their way to have breakfast ready in the morning and your room made up in the afternoon. If you want solid basic accommodations, it's perfect.

Nothing not to like. If you are looking for luxury or "lots of perks" this is not the place for you.

The owners were wonderful. They were helpful, polite, and hard-working. It was an easy walk to the old city and the train station from the hotel. It is a very clean hotel.

The steps were very difficult to navigate and there is no elevator. There was also no air conditioning.

No tea/coffee making facilities. No lounge at night.

Lack of lift. Not able to receive wi fi In certain rooms. Rooms with bath only should have shower fitting too.

It was conveniently located and clean. Basic but perfectly adequate.

Nice service. We had a nice room situated at the back of the hotel, no noise from outside. You can see the hotel is old, but the rooms are redecorated and look neathly. Choise of products for breakfast is small, but sufficient.

Bit noisy, you can hear the person in the next room (singing) in the shower.
