The staff gave us help and tips with enthusiasm and pleasure whilst not being crowding. The views from our room were magical, reflections, off the canal and typical gabled merchant houses as far as the eye could see. Everything felt within walking distance making it all a great stay.
The staircases to the rooms carrying luggage were steep
Breakfast Amazing location Fantastic staff Gréât decor
Size of room
The staff were excellent and very welcoming. The bar area was attractive and the breakfast very typical of Amsterdam hotels - simple but sustaining, with really good coffee!
Location, staff, atmosphere, free breakfast
the stairs could be a problem if you are given a room higher up in the property, they are steep !
very helpfull staff location was excellent worth giving hotel a call to get your bearings but only 6 minute walk from cental rail station which you get on train from inside airport also few minutes walk to a tram / bus stop that takes you to many of prime areas we will go back to this hotel
not a dislike but to others some of the stairs may be difficult as very steep but think there are some ground floor rooms may have to call direct to secure
Location, staff, breakfast, coziness. It is close to everything, but in the same time in a quiet area
Pillows too big, room too small, although I think the size of the rooms is a general issue in center of Amsterdam
Location, helpful staff, beautiful decoration and comfy.
Smallest bathroom ever. Bedroom not to roomy either
Great location, beauitfully decorated, spotless, hotel warm and cosy
location , great view of the canal, lounge area, comfy bed
breakfast and breakfast area too small for 34 rooms// no minibar // no courtesy set in bathroom//
rooms are too small, there is even no place to stand 2 people in the room. In some rooms toilet and shower has 10 cm distance in between.
chilled and quiet with cool interiors
Location Friendliness Room decoration Breakfast Free wifi
Pillows very high Easy to hear neighbours
- Not good value for money - Single room is very very small - WC not in the room (shared one and this is not noted in the booking.com)
This hotel has an excelent location, new acomodations a good breakfast, confortable and cleaning rooms.
There are many stairs.
Lovely shower facilities/wash products. Staff were friendly & helpful. Pleasant area in which to eat the adequate breakfast.
Although I was aware the rooms were small, I hadn't realised how small....
Had a lovely room overlooking the canal. Very comfortable beds and fabulous shower. Staff were very friendly and welcoming even though it was their official opening night.
Really quirky hotel! We loved the reception and bar area with unusual decor- books covering the walls. The rooms were also well decorated and quirky! Cosy and comfy! We got a really warm welcome from lots of friendly staff! More than willing to help with directions!
A few more choices at breakfast would have been nice. But breakfast was included so can't really complain!
Great quiet location Clean and comfortable room Simple but enjoyable breakfast Friendly staff
Steps to top floor very steep indeed WIFI didn't work on top floor Room was very small (110) Two singles together a pain!
Spotlessly clean. Fantastic location, close to all main attractions yet quiet and peaceful! Only 5 minute walk from central station. Wasn't expecting much, the online description almost played it down but when we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised. Ultra modern and the room was warm and comfortable. Lovely bed and top notch shower/wetroom.
Maybe its the Yorkshireman in me but €28 for a bottle of wine is a bit excessive (even though it was delicious).
Nice reception and bar area.
We were a group of 8 so booked two rooms which had 2 double beds. One of the rooms overlooked the canal and was fine. The other room was in the loft and was so tiny and claustrophobic. The shower and toilet were tiny and separate rooms within the lift. The shower didn't even have a hanger for a towel, you had to leave your clothes outside the door. An absolutely awful facility. Also the water didn't drain from the shower so you had to stand in a level of water while showering. There was an awful noise each morning as we heard water fill the radiators. I complained but felt that my complaints were not being taken on board as they said other people had no problem with that room?? It simple should not be sold as a room for 4 adults in my opinion. They gave a 10% discount on my room on checkout, which was not satisfactory taking all things in to consideration.
Location is very convenient. Their motto of "Your urban residence" is very appropriate. Quiet residential street, canal views, and interesting literary type decor and typical Dutch row housing. Gives you a feel for what it would be like living here.
Caution...if you cannot navigate narrow spiral staircases or pack light, then you may wish to reconsider your desire to have the Dutch Urban residence experience. No elevators available. But we did it. A couple of fairly mobile sixty year olds!
Location of the hotel is very convenient, decoration is original. Rooms are clean. The breakfast is very tasty. I would like to stay in this hotel when I visit Amsterdam again.
1) interior design of Max Brown is really lovely, very warm and very Dutch style, this is one of the reason that I booked it. 2) all of their staffs are super friendly and very useful for giving a lot of tips for discovering Amsterdam
1) it's actually quite a hotel made for sight seeing but for bussiness trip 2) with a very narrow Dutch style stairs, for me is not a very big problem but for whom has big suitcases might be. 3) no room service, it's not a super big problem for me, just not used to. 4) poor breakfast, this is the only one point that I'm a bit upset with Max Brown
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Helpful staff. The bed was soooo comfy!
Breakfast could have been a bit more varied. The corridors were quite noisy when guests and staff walked about. 2 out of the 4 lightbulbs in my room blew the moment I turned them on (very small point!)
