It is convenience and safe.

The towels are too old. .

bathroom sucks, bad heat control, very stark, sloppy finish work.

Noise from locals leaving nearby clubs and bars through the night. Way too many dangerous kamikaze cyclists.

Surprisingly large and comfortable room at very decent rates. Location of Hotel is perfect for a trip to Haarlem or as a starting point to discover the region.

No permanent staff on-site but minor issue since staff at Ambassador Hotel is extremely friendly and helpful.

The Room was clean. It was close to the location we were looking to stay. There was a sign directing us around the corner to the reception but it wasn't clear how far it was especially with heavy luggage to carry.

Reception was around the block in another hotel. There was to much moving luggage back and forth.

Very loud at night due to pubs close by.

Great location right in the market square, we had the apartment with kitchenette, refrigerator, and living room/sitting area. Courtyard we overlooked was under construction so not a great view. Wifi was free and worked great. Nice big shower. Overall, excellent experience, I would stay here again.

Courtyard below was under construction, not very pretty. We had the buffet for breakfast which was good but a bit overpriced.

In The centre. Nicely decorated.

the rooms have just been referbished and are lovely and clean.the area is really quiet being in the centre of haarlem.the staff are really helpful and friendly.have stayed before and will definitely stay again

Clean room and friendly, efficient staff. Great location, very central. Close to many attractions. Fairly easy 10 km cycle to the coast...

Bit of renovation going on, but not very intrusive. Strong effort to keep the property up.

The Joops has now gone to side street access which I did not like. The Interior stair ways / corridors now are very dated and could do with a make over I know management will not most be pleased to spend money on something with really know return of money but a good Idea from someone wth Interior design may just have a good financial make over Idea. The Ambassador Is smart now and with a bit of luck I will have a few days their In the spring. Just to let your management know that lads like us who work abroad on 28x28 rota are not exempt from u k tax so to over come this problem and to not over holiday with the family believe me places like Joops / Harlem are what we look for, car hire and we can do lots around the area and still have good food and cool beers In the good old joops hotel. Those church bells But their again what a lovely place to be so central. Much of what I said In green Is what I didn't like, the annex could do with an overhaul, not up grade standards fresh 2013 style. Bed rooms are fine but to me a room without a headboard looks cheap, you can now fit nice head boards to the wall that'll take just the " bareness " of the room away also to have just one curtain running across the window looks cheap small though the window Is the 2 part curtain looks more like the person who fitted It has respect for the room appearance not to the fact that oh! That'll do It's only a 2 star hotel the reason you do these things to this size of hotel is for the visitor to mention other friends just how much small details have been put Into a 2 star hotel. Never put two single beds together like that these rooms look like they've just been designed outa some American Movie like the sting, get at least onw small B/side cabinet between them please It save's you guest's doing that. It is the center of Haarlem close to the cathedral. Good value for money.

The hairdryer was not working.

We were upgraded to neighbouring Ambassador Hotel due to non availability of type of room I requested - it was perfect for our trip to nearby Amsterdam and a lot cheaper than accommodation there. Haarlem is also very pleasant town in its own right.

why do you not have a tea/coffee maker in your rooms so that you can have tea/coffee when you come in late at night or frist thing in the morning.

We have stayed at Joops Hotel many times since discovering it in the 1990s. It remains a great getaway hotel for us - and a doorway to European travel - in the heart of the old district of Haarlem, we find it a microcosm of bustling Amsterdam - with the best of that same ambience, yet within two train stops and 15 minutes of Amsterdam. The shopping is well reknown, the restaurants are varied and plentiful, the beach and beautiful park trails are in easy reach by bicycle as is the countryside for relaxed exploring. We have found the pubs and people welcoming and helpful, especially staff at the hotel. We'll continue to return, and recommend Joops.

Unfortunately the internet was not working at Joops so it was inconvenient to need to come to the Ambassador lobby to access it, but I am sure that will be resolved soon. All else was fine.

We booked Joops but were upgraded to its parent hotel, the Ambassador, just round the corner. I think this happens quite often but obviously you can't count on it. We had a lovely room on ground floor by the patio, clean, smart, enormous bathroom. Would definitely book this hotel again. Friendly staff. Both hotels are right in the middle of this very pleasant town, so everything is just metres away.

No complaints. I can imagine street facing rooms might be noisy but that's what you get if you choose to stay in the middle of a city!

Good location. Got big light corner room with 6 windows on top floor.

There is too hotel: Joops** and Ambassador city center***. I was booked in Joops but room was in Ambassador that is better. Nice room, location on the main square.

Just one night, all was great.

We had a great room with a balcony. It was very spacious and had great views. We couldn't have asked for more.

Others reported it as being noisy, and there was street noise on Friday night, but closing the window and balcony door limited the noise to a reasonable level - it wasn't a problem. We had Wifi, but the performance was not great - then again it's like most hotel Wifi.

Stayed in a room, but would have preferred an apartment, but convenient, quiet and clean.

Could have done with a small fan in the room and a nnn-slip mat in the shower

we had two rooms that were just a few doors from eachother. the location of the hotel was near a parking garage, which worked well for our rental car. the hotel is on a pedestrian only street. lots of restaurants and shops to choose from just outside the hotel. in the heart of town.

the check-in for this hotel is at a sister hotel just around the corner. not at all a problem, more an fyi.

It was easy to get to eating establishments and metro, had a town market and beautiful church near by. Many shopping opportunities.

It was very noisy from the bars lining the street. The windows were not insulated and it was hard to sleep when the bars did not close until 5am!
