In the old centre of Monnickendam you find a splendid bed and breakfast accommodation with 2 rooms, located directly at the port of Monnickendam with a view over the old Zuiderzee and the old city of Monnickendam. Directly in front of your door you find the old cargo sailing ships, that once sailed the Zuiderzee and nowadays sail with guests on the IJsselmeer (lake).
Within 5 minutes walk from the hotel you will find several good restaurants in the city. You can also cook your own meals in the kitchen of the apartment.
The Port Room is located on the front side of the building overlooking the port and the water. On the garden side of the building is the Garden Room that overlooks the old town of Monnickendam, with his charming churches and historical houses.
The rooms have their own entrance with door bell and are available all year round.
Monnickendam is a special city. It is one of the 12 oldest cities in Holland and its authenticity and picturesque houses and harbour make it a one of a kind experience. The real beauty is that it has not yet discovered by mass tourism and therefore you can experience Holland at its best.
Monnickendam is situated in the heart of tourist hotspots like Marken, Edam and Volendam and just outside the centre of Amsterdam (12 km). Also it is near to the Ijsselmeer for water sports, is an ideal area for bicycling, just 45 minutes from the beach of the North Sea and in the centre of Waterland with its nice nature and millions of birds.
Kamerverhuur Waterland is 20 minutes drive away from Schiphol Airport.
By Public Transport:
- From Amsterdam Central Station take the number 111 (Marken) or 115 (Monnickendam) until the bus stop Monnickendam Swaensborgh.
- Continue walking for 100 metres until the T crossing, then right to the traffic circle (200 metres).
- There turn left and after 100 metres turn right and then the first left is het Prooyen.
- After 300 metres on your left, left you will see house number 4B - this is Kamerverhuur Waterland.
By Car (from Amsterdam):
- Take the A10 E35, towards Zaandam.
- Take exit S116 towards Volendam (N247) and drive to the first Monnickendam exit (N518/Bernardlaan).
- Turn right, drive over the draw bridge (pass by a large church left site), and continue (about 800 metres) to an intersection.
- There turn left and after 100 metres turn right and then take the first left marked het Prooyen.
- After 300 metres on your left, left you will see house number 4B - this is Kamerverhuur Waterland.
