Just half a mile from the Museumplein, Hampshire Hotel Prinsengracht is in two 17th-century canal houses on a quiet street in central Amsterdam.

The hostel is some not far from the Central Station close to the main museums and the Heineken Brewery. Our host was very helpfull and the room was clean, quiet and had space enough. The bathroom was clean too and worked perfectly. We didn't use the breakfast but I guess that 6 Euros is not too much compared to the average prices in Amsterdam except you buy your breakfast in the supermarket. There are Coffee Shops as well and a lot of bars, pubs and restaurants behind the Brewery. Would go there again.
Maybe a little bit too expensive. Five Euros less would be okay.
staff is very helpful and warm hospitaly. The upstairs are very narrow but staff carrries our luggages. Location is perfect an near the heineken fabric.
The room is very narrow
The hotel was perfect for my purposes. There are many small things about it that someone could dislike depending on their expectations and purposes, but for me it was exactly what I was looking for within the budget that I wanted to spend.
Manager was friendly
As budget goes, it is what you get. The hotel was dated, walls were paper thin, bed uncomfy, shared toilet in hall, shower in room with just a shower curtain for "privacy", the dutch equivelent of freeview, badly sealed double glazing. This was way over priced....
It was dirty not Cléan no heater. We didnt get our room... We move every day. Dont go there !!!!
Clean Good not far away
Wifi is not strong. No elevator.
The location is great, very close to the Van Gough museum and a short tram ride to the city centre. The price for our stay offered excellent value compared to other hotels and was clean and comfortable. The staff are very helpful, and nothing is too much trouble.
You need to expect very steep, narrow staircases and small rooms. This is the case in many of the period buildings that make Amsterdam such an attractive city, and is something you may have to consider when booking into any of the older hotels.
Toilet had an excellent poop appraisal shelf
Room size, bad, facilities
In a relation between quality and price one of the best.
The location is ideal, with the entire city centre approachable by foot. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. The manager was congenial and helpful. The room standard was satisfactory for the class and price of this kind of hotel. My negative comments are specific to one incident but I would probably stay here again.
On arrival I learned that my room was already paid for. This is becoming more of a norm in Amsterdam but to me it represents a commercially hostile act towards a customer who has declared a binding intention to pay by providing credit card information. I was informed on arrival that the lock of my room should not be engaged from the inside as this could cause problems. This was fine until the first morning when, after returning from the lavatory, I inadvertently engaged the lock. I was subsequently trapped inside my room with no means of contacting the manager and had to escape my confines via a single-stage fire escape ladder from the third floor. I then found myself trapped in the garden for half an hour before the manager arrived and sat me free. The lock was subsequently fixed but I was left uninformed of this.
Very friendly staff. Chen (maybe I'm wrong in the name, sorry) working at reception was exclusively polite and friendly, he helped a lot. My mom (senior lady) stayed there for more than a week. Dear Chen, thank you very much for your concern and help! Room was clean with shower inside.Good breakfast.Fast WiFi.
I really liked the location. Very convenient to walk to most places, but there was also a tram nearby.
The stairs are very steep and I wouldn't recommend this for older people or children.
Clean and personal kind.
Has a very dangerous stairs, I was in the floor three and it is not easy to move the luggage.
The hotel is located in a residential area. It's close to the city centre (15 min walking) and the tram stop is next to the hotel.
Twin room too small, it suits to 1 person. There is no lift and the stairs are very steep, so if you carry bulky luggage...good luck! We have found hair on the sheets and pillows. Due to tiny size of the room there is neither a wardrobe nor a coat hanger.
Really friendly stuff Quiet
Small bed Old bathroom
When I entered my room, I saw four beds in the room. It looks like a hostel not hotel.
Friendly, helpful staff (to find where to go), great location (walking distance of everything, including nights out)
Good location, friendly staff, clean and simple.
Very small rooms, shared toilet and stairs... Just 90 degrees :)
The single room was realy great for me. The location is very nice, 7 minutes by tram to the Dam Square. The Albert market is nearby.
Good location, close to Van Gogh Museum and Heineken experience. Very quiet neighborhood, and we got a very sunny room on the top floor. Very nice staff.
It is true that the stairs are very narrow, but it is common in the Netherlands.
Personel was very nice and helpfull when needed. Great atmosphere.
Shower water stream was weak
The guy behind the desk was very friendly - he helped carry my bag, printed a ticket for me, and offered breakfast options. The location was good - not super central, but well connected and an easy walk to the Rijksmuseum, Van Loon museum and the Heineken Experience (just around the corner).
The room was basic and no frills, however it was clean and there was a TV, basin and rail for clothing so everything you need. The shower and toilet were in the hall, which was inconvenient - however both were clean and easily accessible.
Great location. Very easy to find and get to from the train station.
Door to my room was hard to open, and door knob was broken. Made it really hard to get out of room quietly - especially in the middle of the night to use the WC.
Its exactly what it says on the tin, a budget hotel, but the cleanliness, location and excellent staff made my stay fantastic
