Ideal location for people visiting Artis and still close enough to the city center to walk there. Quiet area at night. Clean rooms, actually big enough for us, but I can imagine people finding it small. Not really ideal for people traveling with infants. Almost impossible to have food or milk warmed up.

The location was great, quiet and an easy walk to the city center. The price was high for a 3 star hotel.

Stayed here over a weekend (9-11th march 2012) and can honestly say this was a superb hotel, i have no complaints. the hotel was very easy to find and in a nice location, walked there from central station took about 15 mins not long at all. staff at reception were very efficient, no problems checking in. the hotel room itself was great, 2 very comfy twin beds , very clean everything in perfect working order, and since we were on the 4th floor we had a great view of the flamingos in artis zoo across the road! we didnt have breakfast at the hotel as there were several cafes just a few minutes up the street. would definitely stay at this hotel again!! the only thing that wasnt mentioned in booking this hotel but was brought up during check in was that the hotel required a 50 euro deposit, even if you've already paid for the room. i assumed this was for the city tax but thought surely it couldnt be 50 euros so we paid in cash. upon checking out the hotel i got my deposit back in cash minus 5.50 euro in city tax. so not a major issue, just be wary of this!

the hotel is situated nearby the center, take tram 9 and i 10 minutes you are in the middle of Amsterdam's khaos :) Also, the tram goes straight to the central railwaystation where youhave to take the train to Shiphol airport. The hotel is small and service is good. The walls are very thin. So if you will get party animal neighbours... Our neighbours were pretty peacful, but once i had to put the volume up on the tv to show them that they are not alone here :)

We had a wonderful trip to amsterdam, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. .Room was not acceptabe, it was tiny. Thankfully we are both very slim, but if we werent we wouldnt of fitted in the shower/toilet room. Way too small. Two single beds pushed together is not acceptable.

Hotel was clean although in need of a facelift. WiFi only works in the lobby. Good location, close to zoo and parks and a short tram ride from the centre. Staff were friendly enough. The carpets could do with replacing.

Front staff very helpful. Tram very accessable. Artis Zoo very close. Cafe next door very good. Acceptable restaurants within an easy walking distance. Rooms smaller than photos led us to believe. Room cleaned every second day and vacuumed only once.

This is my second stay at Eden Lancaster. It is a great hotel for the price. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Our heater wasn't working properly so we ended up doubling up on the blankets. The tram stops right down the street from the hotel on lines 14 and 9. There is an awesome cafe called Koosje right down the street that we had drinks at every day. It is a bit outside the city center but nice and quiet and close enough to take the tram or walk.

The position: the hotel is directly linked to Dam square and to the central railway station (tram number 9) and from the hotel you can easily reach the Nemo Museum just with a ten minutes walk. The staff at the reception is not as helpful as you would expect in such a touristic place. The room wasn't perfectly clean and the bathroom was too small.

The beds were comfortable, staff was nice enough. I did not like the location you would of been better staying on rembrandt square, the website was misleading as it made the hotel seem far nicer then it actually was.

Very good staff at the reception. Too noisy: I was distuberd by the noise from the other rooms as well as from the street (a tram line is next to the hotel). There was no warm water in the shower on the last day of my stay (oddly there was warm water in the tap at the same time).

Staff were friendly and helpful when asking for directions. Use Booking.com a lot but have to say that this hotel was the most disappointing. Upon arrival, was informed that my credit card, which was used to secure booking, wasn`t valid. Upon arrival in uk, my bank informed me that the hotel had attempted to withdraw 4 different amounts from this card, all of completely different amounts to daily rates, and all declined! The rooms were adaequate but had poor sound proofing. Could hear noises from adjacent rooms and from above. Walls and floors appeared thin. The en-suite was particularly small especially the toilet, so, like me, you are over 6 feet tall, you will struggle to use facilities. Be prepared to walk as hotel is easily 15minutes from Rembrandt Square. Thought the hotel was grossly overpriced given the negative points above.

Liked the location as it was away from the busy parts but centre easily accessible by the great tram system which also runs quite late - tram stop just diagonally across the road opposite two bars. Nice quiet location opposite the zoo and near the Dutch Resistance museum. Nice couple of bars, cafes and restaurants within metres of the Hotel. Guests appear to be business people so the hotel also was nice and quiet. The first room we were given was not what we paid for - subterranean room and too small for two people and not the 'two mattress' type of bed we paid for. While the bed was a small double it was definitely really only suitable for a single person as regards comfort. Reception said it was a 'standard double room'. However, we knew that wasn't the case - there are larger 'standard' double rooms as my husband had stayed there two months before at half the rate we were paying for that weekend. We asked to be moved but as the hotel was full that night we had to wait until the next day. As we did then get the type of room we expected (just the standard double room-with twin mattress) we were then quite happy. We would stay there again but ensure that we get what we paid for. I see an earlier reviewer had a similar experience.
