Location was perfect if what you wanted to see were museums--and it was very convenient to the tram system so really, you could see everything in the city easily from this hotel. The rooms were nice, if a bit small. There was a bit of street noise, but we had to take into account the celebrations surrounding the World Cup! |

An excellent safe family friendly location close to Museum Square and also good for exploring the old south neighbourhood. I was concerned after reading reviews that the room might be a bit small but the room I was allocated was a comfortable size and having a bath as well as a shower was a plus. |

Nice hotel, very clean. Small cosy hotel in a quiet area. Very well located...beside the van gough and rijks museum, 3/4 min walk to the leidsplean and walking distance of about 20min to the centre. Perfect for a city break Rooms a bit too small if you were there for any longer than a day or two. Internet very very expensive |

It is in 3 old houses in Amsterdam, with very modern facilities, located near the Van Gogh museum and shopping area, close to transportation. The staff was helpfuland friendly. A comfortble small hotel. Breakfast was not included in the price,A rather expensive buffet was offered, Coffee and tea is available in the rooms. |

The location is fantastic (shopping, sightseeing, park). The staff is friendly. The "Standard Room" was very small, contrary to the description on the website. The window was about 30x30 cm and there was literally no space to put a suitcase. Upon our complaint we were upgraded. The upgraded room had two twin beds and a tiny tv set. The room was worn out. Breakfast clocks in with 15 euro P.P. (if booked in advance, otherwise 19 euro). Internet costs 17 euro per 24 hours to be used en bloc. Basic bikes for rent were available only in one size. |

We loved the location just a block away from the two most visited museums in Amsterdam. Also, the area is quiet enough to travel with children. Their breakfast buffet was excellent. Friendly staff. The fact that the front desk sold us tickets for the museums for our whole family when they very well knew that children under 18 don't pay to enter. We even asked them before purchasing the tickets and they said everyone payed including children. |

Front desk staff was very helpful. Location couldn't be better for major museums, and is close to canal boat tours and tram stops. Bathroom amenities were very nice - big soft towels much appreciated! Very little storage space in the room - not enough drawers to unpack suitcases. Breakfast is quite good but very expensive. Also the shower curtain needs to be 2 inches longer to keep water from spilling onto the floor. |

A very nice hotel in a quiet area of Amsterdam. Something a bit different from the usual large chains of hotels. |

The proximity to restaurants and museums was great - 10 minute walk to everything. Very close to tram. The room was very small, it just barely fit the bed with 12-18 inch clearance all around. Tight quarters even by European standards. The bathroom was so small I had side step to get in. It only had a shower which wouldn't have been a problem except it didn't drain properly and backed up. During my 10 minute shower I had to be mindful of the water level or it would have overflowed. I told the concierge and they said they would have it repaired. There was evidence of an attempt (the plumber left dirty towels all over the floor and the floor itself was left filthy) issue was never resolved. We asked for another room, they said they couldn't accommodate us. We probably should have pursued it but we didn't want to be the rude Americans. |

Good location, helpful staff, comfortable. Slightly small room - but similar in size to many Amsterdam hotels - due to building architecture. Would definitely return. Old TVs in the rooms - unable to use remote control from the bed. Wall mounted lcd tv would be an improvement. |

Our stay was great at hotel, with in seconds of arriving at hotel, we did not even have a chance to put our parking ticket on car when we were given a parking fine. We find that parking is a very expensive pastime in Amsterdam, especially around the Hotels. So future tourista beware of this problem. |

The hotel is perfectly lokated and can be recommanded for a short stay over the weekend. The room was quite small and there was a noisy A/C system just outside next to the room. |

We liked the room because it was good size, had a small balcony, a comfortable bed with great reading lights and lovely pillows. The room also featured really good curtains that blocked out the light. The room also offered everything else we might have needed: minibar, coffee maker, even office utensils. The bathroom was also more than adequate and the location was excellent. In short: we were very satified. The only thing we might criticize is the TV which was on top of a cupboard at an odd angle. But as we didn't even switch it on, we didn't find it an inconvenience. |

Porter closes the door of the hotel at 10 p.m., when return even 30 minutes later you start humiliating begging so he lets you in. Looks kind of idiotic - if you want to keep the place secure, let the people open the door with their room key. |

Stayed at Jan Luyken before so knew it was a good hotel. Good price for the rooms. My single room was not available so got a very nice double for same price as I had booked. My son and partner had a similar room to mine-a bit larger. NIce facilities-good breakfasts-nice bar. Very handy for Museums etc. Despite there being a garbage strike in Amsterdam (streets piled with bags of garbage) the Hotel obviously dealt with their garbage as the streets outside it were very clean. |

Great location by major museums, only a 20 min. walk to central station, so we walked everywhere. Nice quiet and safe neighborhood. Room was clean and updated, but small on 5th floor! Nice bathroom with decent sized shower, bad lighting though. Would definitely stay here again. Very small room, just room to walk around the bed on three sides. But this was on the top (5th) floor, so probably different on lower floors. Lighting could be better in the bathroom. For the price we payed I think the room should be bigger! |
