Budget Hotel Marnix  

The location was perfect.We could go to visit Anne Frank house,Heineken,restaurants and shoppings without taking a tram.And is very easy to get in the hotel from the central station,6 min by tram. The rooms are simple but the beds are very confortable and clean and the heater was good too.

Good breakfast for low price, room was clean before the new neighbours came, location is good. hot water is a plus too. No mice, no bugs, if you get french pot head mushroom loving neighbours - beware! They left us a gift in the bathroom upon their departure which the hostel staff had to take care of and when we came back to the room - it was shining clean! Awesome!

The hotel was pretty good. It really does depend on who you end up in a room with. We had 6 french guys sharing room with us who were loud, messy, smoked weed (room always smelled like weed and there is a 250 euro fine for smoking in the room which could have been put on us because how came you prove you werent smoking?), eat shrooms and were tripping all the time - kinda scary! But that has nothing to do with the hostel, the hostel was good.

Good breakfast, close to the bars and nightclub, it was also close to all the art museeum.

It was a great hotel to stay, as a college student, I found the price of my room was very attractive and totally worth to stay. Very good location, 3 minutes walking distance to the bars and pubs area, where we had a lotta fun. people were quite helpful in the reception, room was good, made some friends and totally a nice trip in A'dam.

Initially I was scared about staying here due to the previous reviews but please ignore them as the hotel was nothing as mentioned as in reviews. Location was great and the rooms were also clean and comfortable with a full working bathroom. Only issue was could get a bit noisy but hey for the price your paying and location convenience this was nothing! There was also no sign of mice or anything to do with mice! The staircase to the room was quite small and narrow but other then this I really can't complain. If I was to go back to Amsterdam I would definitely stay here again! Also the hotel is now called Hotel Marnix not budget hotel marnix!

great location, we could walk everywhere.. 2 minutes from the leidseplein reception 24/7, always helped us with directions and maps rooms pretty much clean for the price

at the 3rd night we found 2 mice in our room, and day after we caught them we found another one. our "compensation" was a free breakfast woohoo

It was absolutely disgusting!! Not fit for animal! Should be shut down due to health and saftey, the staff are soo rude! Bed sheets had pubic hairs all over them! Floor was filthy and smelt awful! Worse experience ever, it ruined my holiday completely!!!

The Hotel is in a good position to visiting the city. We were staying in a tipical dutch building just 50 meters away from the reception. The room was a basic hostel room with 3 beds and a large window. The towels were included in the price. The bathroom was shared but after all it was clean. I reccomend this hostel to persons who are able to adapt and I suggest a staying not more than 3 nights.

Liked the large room and balcony

Far too many extremely steep stairs to get to the room. One of the banisters were broken and a large metal hook was coming out the wall, if you tripped down the stairs it could have impaled you.
