Budget Hotel Marnix  

It's located in the center of Amsterdam, 200 meters from Leidse Square. Plus the staff was helpful telling me information what to do and where to go.

Some people here write that the stairs are too steep - duh! It's Amsterdam! The building was 140years old! Yes, the stairs are steep and if you don't like that, maybe find another town to visit... Just a thought.

Its location is great for anyone wishing to stay in the city centre, especially anyone looking to buy something or like to party, close to the shopping streets and downtown party area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet for only € 5,- from 8 till 11.

Car park is bit pricey on the streets € 5,- per hour. There is a cheap car parking p&r € 8,- for 24 hours, buts it's 20 minutes from the hotel.

It's near Leidseplein and public transports. You can go there by bus 197 from Schipol Airport and drop off in front of the hotel, cheaper than by train and straight ahead. Breakfast for 5,00 € is an excellent clue.

There was a leak at our room, but in the check-out time we advise the staff to fix it. It would be more clean inside.

The Hotel is in a good position to visiting the city. We were staying in a tipical dutch building just 50 meters away from the reception. The room was a basic hostel room with 3 beds and a large window. The towels were included in the price. The bathroom was shared but after all it was clean. I reccomend this hostel to persons who are able to adapt and I suggest a staying not more than 3 nights.

The price and the location were unbeatable. I thought that the hotel had many good things. Cheap and good breakfast, free wifi, fresh rooms, great offers for nearby restaurants and clubs and also helpful and nice staff.

I liked the price and the location

I didn´t like that the light in the toilet didn´t work and also in the room. The wireless internet did not reach my room and the window is not a good one, since it lets a lot of cold air enters the room when it´s closed, that is not good for the heating system

Nothing to complain about. Cheap hotel in a great location. Don't expect anything more...

no elevator! they should say! Dirty room, think they can clean it properly. Know it was a cheap price but it should be clean anyway

The sheets at the hotel were not replaced every day, where as in london for the same price they were, there was nowhere to hang your clothes, the paint in the room was not uniform in color, on the last days there were insects in my sheets

It was absolutely disgusting!! Not fit for animal! Should be shut down due to health and saftey, the staff are soo rude! Bed sheets had pubic hairs all over them! Floor was filthy and smelt awful! Worse experience ever, it ruined my holiday completely!!!

Very bad hotel. The room was not very much. Mouse lives in the room, which interfere with sleep at night. Very good audibility of what is happening outside the room. Very poor souls - have nowhere to hang things, inconvenient sink - almost impossible to wash, no water flowed. Our room was a shower room and the ceiling a little leak. The room was quite cold.
