Convenience to public transport and local shopping precinct. Should have mentioned in publications that airport shuttle is only possible if you hold a return ticket for the shuttle service.

Excellent location, quiet, yet very central. Perfectly situated for tram/bus transport into central city. no coffee/tea making facilities, insufficient shelf/hanging space for stays longer than 2 days

The staff were excellent, extremely pleasant and helpful. The Memphis also had the most comfortable hotel bed I've experienced in a long time! Although quite a fair walk into the city centre, the hotel is a short walk from the museums and the antique and craft shops. In my opinion, Just the right balance for a gentle city break in a leafy quiet suburb with easy access to the best the city has to offer! Didn't get the Connexions shuttle bus details from either the hotel or the booking.com website which was a bit frustrating to try and figure it out on arrival!

This hotel is very easily accessible to the city center via tram. There are not many conveniences around the hotel. It is in a very upscale residential area in Amsterdam. I would definitely stay there again. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The hotel was good for the price and money.

nothing special, hotel like millions of others in the world, staff rather formally polite... once a guy changing water in the fridge came in without knocking - I was completely naked in the open bathroom!

This hotel is perfect for a city break. I had the superior room and it was very bright and spacious. My friends had the small room and it was very small but fine for 2-3 days. The hotel is a two minute walk from the number 16 tram which takes you to the museums and Dam Square. It is a short tram ride and trams are very regular. We had the 3 day tram pass purchased at the hotel for €15.50. Great value. Breakfast at the hotel is great value and I recommend it. Altogether I would highly recommend this hotel to stay at - and booking.com was a great way to reserve the hotel.

Hotel in nice residential area behind the Concertgebouw, quiet yet easy to reach by tram 16 from central station. Got a free upgrade to a double room at the back instead of the single room I paid for. Friendly staff.

Very good location for exploring the city, there is a tram No16 just in front so you can reach city centre very easy. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The staff was also very friendly. The museum district is only two tram stops from the hotel. There was a strange smell in the room.

What I liked best about the Memphis Hotel Amsterdam is it's location. It is within walking distance of the Concertgebrow, Vondal Park and Museums. Also it is very quiet. The double room was a decent size. The staff were cordial and helpful when asked. Attention to small details. The room I stayed in had a water stain on the wall and carpet by the window.

I enjoyed its location and public areas. I assume it is much more beautiful in the summer I found an insect repellant under the bed (filled with dust...must have been there for years!). The safe in the room was broken and they could not fix it. The heating was not working/turned on the first night of my stay but after my complaint it was turned on.

Location of the hotel was very practical - walking distance from rail (connection from the airport) and short distance (by walk or tram) to the city centre. Friendly Brasserie within the hotel. Free WiFi connection and free use of PC was very useful. When going to sleep, I found that although washed, the bed sheet was badly stained (blood stain). The receptionist responded very quickly, however, the hotel guy who brought the new sheet to my room tried to hand it to me and he expected me to do the bed myself. So I had to ask him to "kindly change the sheet for me"... So I think it could be useful if the hotel manager gives a lesson to the housekeeping ladies not to use blood stained sheets (not to scare their guests) and to the hotel guys not to ask the hotel guests to do the bed themselves (in order to keep the 4star quality of the hotel).

We love this area of Amsterdam. This was our third time to stay in this hotel. It has been taken over by new company since last visit. Very quiet, bought drinks in empty bar and was told by the barman that he would prefer we took our drinks to our room. For one beer and three gin and tonics cost 45.00 Euro very expensive. Would have liked to sit at night in the bar and have a few drinks but there was no atmosphere and drinks to expensive. If you want comfort and very quiet hotel ideal. We will return to same area but not this hotel.

24H reception The beds were very uncomfortable, the coffee horrible, it was pretty hot in the room. Eventhough we booked a 3-bedded-room, it was just a double room with an additional bed.

Located in a nice and quiet residential area with nice restaurants, shops, bars, but one needs to be aware that the hotel is about 4km from the city center, and it does take a 20 minute tram ride into town. Only the large museums are located in walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For a 4* hotel, the room could have done with a recent refurbishment. The shower curtain was missing during the first day, and only one out of four power sockets actually worked, which is quite annoying, considering that nowadays every one travels with a laptop, camera, mobile phone etc. We have had hotels with much better value for money in comparable cities like Brussels, even Paris or Madrid.

The hotel is comfortable, situated in a nice quiet part of town close to the Vondelpark and the Museums. We were able to buy tickets to the Van Gogh museum at the hotel and save standing on line at the museum. We also rented bikes and rode them around the Vondelpark. One complaint - They didnt have small bikes for my youngest and weren't too helpful in trying to help us get one. The area is quiet at night, so for those looking for nightlife, it is a tram ride away. For those with a car, the parking situation is not great. There is parking on the street for 4 euro an hour until midnight. Two blocks away (over the bridge) you can pay 3 euro an hour until 9pm. The hotel suggest parking a tram/bus ride away in the Olympic stadium - very inconvenient. Who wants to park their car miles away from their hotel? The parking there is 12 euro a day plus the tram ride of 2.60 each way per person.

The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The staff was wonderful and always willing to help, and the location was perfect! The only thing I can think of was the breakfast...we didn't get the optional 12 euro/person breakfast because it was a little too expensive for us when we could get a great breakfast cheaper while experiencing the city.
