the crew, the room yhe possibility of the twatertaxi to the city the restaurant. is is very bad: the reserved table was taken; the wine bottle was openened not at the table and the content did not taste conform the label; the apple 'from the oven' was frozen inside-> thus from the microwive, the bill was far too high |

I sailed the HAL-ships as a deck-offcer in the 50ties and 60ties. I book hotel New York for sentimentel reasons. We specially enjoyed the terrace-service. No porter-service to our cruise-ship. |

The quaint old rooms (huge by European standards) with old fashioned ship doors. Location --primarily the distance from public transport. If you are very mobile you can easily walk to the nearest tram and metro stop about .25 mi. But it's not so easy if you are injured or recovering from an injury. And public transport does not come rapidly in the evening hours. And you need public transport to get to the shops and city center. |

This is a spectacular hotel with water on three sides. A great nautical theme and lovely generous proportions to the rooms. It really is a special place with a great restaurant too. Well worth a visit. |

the possibility to buy also the products/merchandises of HNY, the fact that if staying for a citytrip it's locally situated in the centre. And most important staying at HNY when booked a Cruise departing from Rotterdam in the formal historical Holland America Line building is a very good start ! It's a pity about the other (modern) Skycrapers surrounding the hotel. |

If you are really over faceless hotels with no character then staying at the New York is an absolute treat - it has loads of character and charm. It's a little rough around the edges regarding condition and attention to detail but perhaps this adds to the charm. The balcony rooms looking on to the water are magical; the view is brilliant. Front desk staff are great. The service received in the restaurant and via room service is inconsistent - some of the staff are excellent, while others are not so good. The room service produce was consistently inconsistent - we ordered the same thing every morning for a week and received seven different versions of the same order. |

the atmosphere, decor and location; the view, old world atmosphere. The food was great. Reception staff were professional, courteous and enthusiastic, and room service staff were excellent. It would have been good to have a kettle/tea&coffee making facilities in the room. It would have also been nice to have a bathrobe each in the room, and bottled water/glasses in the room. The service of the breakfast staff was not as great as the dinner service we received. |

Hotel New York is al jaren gaaf vanwege de buzzling sfeer. Ondanks wat negatief commentaar, blijft het een van m'n favorieten. Het eten is niet echt je van het. En blijkbaar was er n nieuw kassasysteem, bij een tafel naast ons ging alles fout wat er fout kon gaan en wij moesten wel erg lang wachten op een fish en chips gerecht waarvan de bijbehorende saus al bij een voorganger gepresenteerd leek te zijn geweest. De kamers zijn groot en leuk, zelfs de allerlaatste kamer op de binnenplaats die ik deze keer had. Maar kunnen die mini tv's uit de jaren 80 een keer vervangen worden??? En verlichting mag ook wel iets gezelliger. Als ik dan toch bezig ben ;-), bij een vlg renovatie zouden ook de electriciteitsleidingen ingefrased kunnen worden. Ik begrijp de link met vroeger, maar niet alles hoeft naar vroeger te refereren... Badkamer doet in dat opzicht ook wat kil aan. |

De locatie is geweldig. Neem een kamer aan de voorzijde, prachtig uitzicht. Entourage in het hotel, goede sfeer en prima medewerkers. Ontbijt niet inbegrepen en lang moeten wachten op zondag voordat er plaats was. |

Bij aankomst kan men genieten van een hapje en een drankje in de bar en de bagage wordt op de kamer bezorgd tegen dat je 's avonds terugkeert. Er was enkel een bad met een vaste douchekop en wij hebben graag een uitneembare doucheslang met sproeikop. |

Het ziet er natuurlijk prachtig uit. Het personeel is ook erg aardig en je voelt je erg welkom. De kamer was top en schoon. Het was wel erg warm in het hotel. Ook als je aan de bar zat was dat een beetje jammer. |
