The ss Rotterdam is a former Holland-America line ship offering rooms next to the harbor in the Katendrecht area.
Score from 905 reviews Very good
The Hotel has a fantastic location and ambience on what almost seems like an island in the middle of Rotterdam. The room was fab - our walk inwardrobe was one of the old strong rooms. The black and white pictures, retro decor and laid back feel of the hotel (but with excellent service ) were all top notch. I would certainly stay here again when I am back in Rotterdam
I had one disappointing meal at the hotel with some very tough Veal which I should have sent back and talked to them about but did n't ! All my (and the families) other meals were great .Minor criticism would also be Kitchen staff were n't quite on top of their game at breakfast than I would have expected and would n't make me poached eggs instead of omlette etc but absolutely minor !
Fantastic rooms!!! Great location.
Evening resturant staff and menu service poor.
This historical building is amazing. Going back in time, but with a modern touch.
-interior design style of Hotel -happy atmosphere -wifi easy access in restaurants as well as hotel rooms -rooms with balconies onto the waterfront ! -amazing views!
Décor / Food and Staff was excellent
design details. an old building designed with every comfort and in a youthful manner. Great graphic designs and hotel identity. Big desk in the room to spread out and work and write. super soft bed sheets. lovely high ceilings. Very happy vibe of people on the front lawn in front of the hotel.
No a/c in dining and lounge areas-v.hot day. A/C in bedroom directed straight on to bed. Room service (water and a tea bag) grossly overpriced.
Fabulous setting on the great Maas river with a constantly changing maritime scene. A brilliant time-warp historically with all the original fittings of yesteryear, but very much including comfort and quality.
We really could not fault the whole experience.
We pre booked for one night before our cruise. We arrived with just carry ons because the airline hadn't loaded our suitcases. The staff couldn't have been more helpful with everything from extra toiletries, help with phone calls and late check out. Add to that the great location and eclectic design and furnishings and it was a great package.
Size (floorspace) of room. Good restaurant adjacent. Bed comfort. Proximity to cruise terminal.
Too much light coming into windows from hotel lighting.
I really liked the room that I had on this occasion. This is the second time that I have stayed at the hotel, and I liked this room better than the last, although I found the last room nice also. The room on this occasion was large, with high ceilings. I loved the bed which is among the most comfortable I have experienced in a hotel. The bathroom was very large.
The restaurant, both in terms of organization and quality of food could be much improved.
Very beautiful building and nice spacious rooms (about 5m high).
WiFi coverage was average and ok but the connection was not stable.
Great location. Stunning building.
Very dark inside the bedroom. My wife found the hotel a little 'spooky'.
nice atmospher nice restaurant nice room nice nice nice....
not in the city center
The hotel was amasing!! Deffinately will come back
Lot of fun, great ambiance with historical surroundings in beautiful location on the "Kop van Zuid", the "Head of a South"
Classy, great food, great rooms, all good. Go there for business or pleasure.
The atmosphere is more special than I expected. This is the experience to remember. The combination of old and new style is very nice! Breakfast was tasty but was not included into the room cost although the room was not cheap. Stuff is friendly and professional. Gorgeous view.
In a very special double room with a perfect view there were two single beds moved together. Half of the night I slept in between of two beds what was not very comfortable (personal attitude/experience). There was only one sample of Shower gel and shampoo etc. (for two people)
Everything about the building, atmosphere, decorations, individuality of the rooms, the friendly staff, the food, the surroundings - love the deck chairs. phenomenal experience!
Location and Atmosphere
Amazing hotel, really beautiful. My room was perfect, huge with a view of the water. Food was good, beer was cold. I loved it.
Nothing bad to say about the hotel.
Excelent value for money The hotel has much more charms that international chain hotels.
No fitness room
This is one of the most special hotels I've ever stayed in: an amazing building, full of history, beautifully designed. I was in one of the cheapest rooms (good value at the booking.com price) and it was very comfortable. Wifi was automatic with no sign-in needed. Restaurant/bar not cheap but good and very atmospheric.
A wonderful old building in a sea of skyscrapers with lots of originality and stuff all around the building reminding of its past as the Holland America Line offices and booking hall. Good restaurant food, and great atmosphere in the restaurant, and all around the hotel. The people that own this hotel also own the SS Rotterdam now. Friendly service throughout and a really great location. Room 123 was good with a water view.
Room lighting not very good. No grab handles in the shower.
