The location and services were fabulous, far exceeding my expectations. Our quiet (concrete walls) room was very comfortable for us to sleep off our long trip and we were only a short walk from all the things we wanted to see in Amsterdam. I spotted a number of hotels that I had considered and was very happy that I had spent an extra few euro's for such a safe and classy accomodation. Based on the reviews that I had read I had expected second rate service and a shabby room in this highly rated hotel. Our room wasn't shabby and the staff was pleasant and courteous to us. Considering the location (and relative prices of nearby hotels / hostels) this was a fabulous deal and I was very pleasantly surprised. It did seem longer than 700m from central station (walked with 3 little kids and heavy luggage) and was a 15 euro cab ride from the hotel to the station- but this isn't the fault of the hotel. We were very happy with our stay. |

Friendly staff, comfortable and clean Extra services were expensive, computerized interactive TV with annoying adds, noise from Red Light District due to old style room windows. |

The location was great, it was close to everything.rist day we got there at 6 in the morning, but no room available until 3 in the afternoon. imagin doing that with 2 kids after being in the plane for 8 hours. someone at the reception, suggested to get aroom at 10 am for 45 euro more( per day) which would make it 135 euro extras, we didn't take it anyway.finally when we got the room it was so small that our loggage could not fit in it. after calling the reception and talking to several peapole we got a big and nice room in the adjacing building. the rest was great. |

The 'Kras' as the locals call it,is an Amsterdam landmark. The best thing about it,is it's super central location ( right on Dam square ! ) I have stayed there on and off since 1981,and just stayed there again July 30th till August 5th 2010. It's location, and history, is it's best feature. The Krasnapolsky badly needs to update a lot of it's rooms. The bathroom in the room I had probably has not changed since the first time I stayed there in 1981. The bathtub, and poor flow shower was awkward to get into and even turn around in. The air conditioning was also inadequate. But as always the check in at the desk, was the worst experience ! Always a crowd, trying to check in and out,and understaffed. This has been a problem since I can remember. Also there is a tall male staff member with a "large nose",who when I was in a hurry to get my luggage, and had been waiting for about 15 minutes, and hurrying to catch my flight,he ignored me ,instead of simply asking "who's next" and attended to some rude, young, British lager louts. |

Great location, helpful staff, nice view. We booked a triple but were told the triple rooms were not ready. We were given a double with put up bed as extra. Not satisfactory. Staff moved us to a bigger room which accommodated the extra bed, but we were still disappointed having specifically booked a triple room. |

Excellent location, and once we got a decent room (which took some time and effort), it was fine. The room was not ready when we checked in; would take two hours. Then they gave us a small 2-person room (while we had booked a spacious 3-person room) which, moreover, smelled a bit weird. Eventually we ended up with a decent room, but still way too expensive. In short: the hotel is pretentious and overpriced, by quite some margin. |

Excellent location. Beautiful historic interior design. Walking distance to everything, including the train station. Also very tram accessible. I did not like the 30 minute limit on the free internet in the lobby. You would have to request a new password if you were online and didn't quite finish your business. If they advertise free internet in the lobby, it should be free, and hassle free in the lobby. They charge in the rooms. |

Great location. Room spacious, clean and well laid out. We were over charged on our credit card by 1,900 euro in error - this was not credited back to our account for 5 working days. As a goodwill gesture we did get free breakfast which we really enjoyed. |

This hotel is an enormous and highly trafficked hub located in the main square of Amsterdam. For travelers looking for the center of action, the hotel is located at the intersection of the City's most touristed streets and sites. Though the hotel has some historical charm, the lobby and facilities are very worn. My room was in a renovated wing and had a new bathroom, large beds, and quiet, but the decor is more traditional and moderately appointed, comfortable but not quite luxury. The desk staff is very professional and accomodating, and there is limited bellstaff. Most of the time the desk was overrun with clients, though the staff was patient and efficient. The gym was jammed at all hours and the lobby always filled. Though the hotel is clearly maintained well, the age and overuse of the facility lends a scruffy feel. And there is no getting away from people in this context. For travelers spending a day or two in city center and looking for a mid priced, full-service choice, it works; but NH and others have more intimate locations appropriate for less commercial travelers. |

I liked the size of the junior suite, yet the bathroom was too small and the doors to the toilets provided no privacy for a family with kids. I didn't like the the fact that there was only one elevator to serve a 6 story extension of the hotel, the long waits for the packed elevator definitely was the worst experience of our stay. another observation was that the hotel seemed like it gave special prices for students, it was packed with backpackers which didnt give the sense of safety at certain times. |
