The history of NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky began in 1866 when it was a small bar owned by Mr Krasnapolsky. His decision to create a few rooms on-site blossomed into a full-scale expansion and resulted in the creation of this unique and grand complex. Both leisure and business travellers can discover everything they require under one roof in this landmark hotel.

The 22 board and banquet rooms can accommodate up to 2000 people for both business and social events. After meetings and sight-seeing, the state-of-the-art beauty centre and fitness room are just the cure and provide necessary relaxation in this bustling and exciting city.

Our team of concierges is happy to answer all your questions and fulfil all your wishes during your stay; ranging from bike rental to a boating tour along the canals from our private landing jetty to discover the city’s many faces.

Food & beverage

The hotel offers a Summer Garden and a monumental Winter Garden where you can enjoy an extensive breakfast buffet in the morning. In a-la-carte restaurant Reflet you can enjoy assorted French oriented dishes in belle époque style. For fans of the oriental cuisine, restaurant Shilbli Bedouin is an excellent choice. The Wynand Fockink Distillery, dating back to 1679, where you can taste and buy Jenevers and liqueurs, is the eldest distillery in Amsterdam. The Lounge offers connoisseurs its house tea selection, liqueurs and a royal view of the Dam. The Golden Palm Bar offers assorted top-class cocktails.

Restaurant opening hours are from 17:00 to 23:00.
Lounge: open all day.

A hot and cold breakfast buffet is available:
Monday to Friday from 06.30 to 10.30 and Saturday to Sunday from 07:00 to 11:00.

Room information

A comfortable atmosphere dominates throughout the hotel, thanks to modern facilities and tasteful, stylish furnishings. Vibrant red is utilised throughout and promotes an elegant feel and sense of warmth.

Area information

The hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam’s characteristic old centre. Trend-setting shopping streets are just around the corner, just as the many cultural gems such as the Royal Palace, Beurs van Berlage and the Oude Kerk. Other attractions nearby are Madame Tussauds, the Anne Frank Museum, Van Gogh Museum and the Red Light District.

Anne Frank Museum (1.8km) - The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well known museum. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display.

Royal Palace (0.2km) - The Dutch Royal House is the House of Orange-Nassau. Since the 15th century, the fortunes of this House have been closely tied to those of the Netherlands. Since that time, the Oranges have made a major contribution to the government as viceroys, kings and queens.

Being so central and good quality

Very disappointed that in-house movies removed from TV service. Whe on holiday this service is important and I would not have stayed had I know. We have stayed at this hotel many times previously.

The location

The price was too high for the level of comfort and service. A 5 star with no spa or pool, old rooms in urgent need of a remodel. Ordered a €30 burger from room service took 50 minutes to arrive. Paid €233 per night, stayed in a €99 a night Bewleys hotel in dublin the night before and it was a far better experience.

The staff at the Krasnapolsky was attentive and friendly this time. The hotel is centrally located. The internet is expensive. They need a weekly or monthly rate.

The situation was spot on, very central in Dam Square. The hotel thought of everything, ie if you forgot something, they would provide what you needed. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We are going back later in they year because we had such a good time.

Great location.

The hotel should advise people beforehand that they require a substantial upfront guarantee payment as soon as you arrive at the hotel - I had intended paying by cash at the end of the three nights but instead was embarrassed that I had to go out and get cash for a deposit before check-in. Also, the hotel is a bit dated to be considered a 5 star hotel. It is a good hotel but 4 star at best.
