NH Jan Tabak  

Hotel prepared the connecting room as we requested. Friendly front staff, Clean room, Free parking space, 5 minitues walk supermarket.

The hotel is perfectly located for the Naarden area, just a few minutes from the Napoleonic era fortress which is truly impressive. The hotel is trying to be high end, and to a degree accomplishes this.

The staff numbers were low and while the reception staff were great, knowledgeable and committed to providing excellent service, there was little or no service in the bar. Getting a beer took quite a while and when it did arrive, it was off - I could not find anyone to speak to and eventually left it on the bar. The restaurant is aiming for gourmet, and while the food was beautifully cooked and well presented, the menu was complex in flavors, and probably too eclectic to appeal to mainstream tastes. Given the clientele and the likely reasons for staying the restaurant would have been better served offering a more accessible menu and cooking the food to the same standard. wine prices were central Amsterdam 'high end' rather than Naarden good value. For the average business traveler, eating in was likely to be very pricey at €40-50 per person. I would prefer the targeting to be a consistent good quality 4 star rather than trying for 5 star in places and not quite making it.

Despite booking several months in advance and specifically mentioning in the booking that we would be travelling with 2 children, when we arrived at the hotel the receptionist said only 3 could stay in the room and said she should not let us stay, not what you want to hear at 11pm after a 7 hour drive with 2 young children!! Only after showing print out details of the booking and some serious discussion did we get a room key along with a threat of additional charges when we checked out in the morning

Very pleasant hotel, clean, comfy, friendly staff and good breakfast.

Friendly staff. Actually shower head was broken but they could immediately exchange to new one.

Good location if you intend to visit Amsterdam - close to the motorway, 20 minutes on foot to the railway station (you can also take a bus). Quiet and nice neighbourhood. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Good breakfasts. Free parking outside the hotel. The hotel seems to prefer women ;)

It was quite dark in the room in the evening. The electric installation was wierd - finding the right combination of switches in order to switch on all the lights was tricky and we were unable to turn on the fridge. Free wireless Internet only for 30 minutes and only in the lobby, otherwise you have to pay.

Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Goed restaturant.

As I have been using NH Jan Tabak over a period of 10 years, I think that says it all. The staff are both professional and friendly. The location on a personal level is superb as family all live in the area.

Only that NH Jan Tabak needs some updating and although I will always look forward to staying there it would be nice to see NH hoteles spending some money on it.

Ze hebben een fijne lounge, aardige ober restaurant

Gedateerde kamers, humeurige dame bij ontbijt, geen gratis wifi op de kamer! Oude storende tv. Ook bij ons deed de kamer sletel het niet de 2e nacht. Matig ontbijt.

Lokatie

* ik had om een rustige kamer gevraagd, maar kwam aan de verkeersweg, bovendien kwam een vrachtauto om 05.30h bij het hotel lossen met veel geluid inclusief het piepen bij het achteruitrijden.N.B.: er waren wel kamers vrij aan de rustige kant "maar die waren niet schoongemaakt". * de kluis was niet te bedienen met een slechte instructie. Ook de receptionist, die zeer gedienstig was, lukte het niet! * het stukje zeep in de badkamer was niet verpakt
