We liked the fact the hotel was in a vibrant area of AMSTERDAM and the locality of all the attractions. We had the added bonus of having a balcony on our room so suited us perfectly and we had a great time
Could do with milk in the rooms for a brew were english we need tea
View to the Rembrant´s square. Very nice and comfortable room. Friendly staff.
Bartender in the bar told us that there are no coctails or shot drinks but behind him in the stand were full bottles of everything. In the room plug socket at my side of the bed was blocked by the bed so it was not possible to charge my phone. At the window were a lot of spider´s webs :( Public internet in the recepiton for fee and only one computer.
I really appreciate this hotel, my room was nice with a balcony in front Rembrandtplein, the animation of the place was like a theater, I enjoyed, the personnel was very nice, Ali did receive me with a smile professional, he was teaching an employed and stay very professional with me and listening with attention what I wanted, so 3 nights in this hotel was very nice, my last day I saw Patrick, very smart with the smile and very professional, it was a pleasure to leave with this image of Patrick and his very lovely and elegant English accent, so I already was in NH Rotterdam Hotel, and I will continue to chose this hotel because of the good service and the lovely welcoming, then I recomand this hotel because of the personnel, the place and the area of course
All was ok for me
Room size great, clean, nice and modern. Location just perfect, in the middle of caffes/restaurants area. Can be noisy, ask a back / garden view room
The hallways to the rooms are a bit tired and need refresh
icecold bathroom did not manage to get taxi to given time Another meber of the group I traveled with had room towards the front and had quite a lot of noice from the late nightshow recorded in the hotel
every thing was more than perfect
Location, lovely room, hotel full of character. Friendly staff. Recommended.
Shower did not work properly
The NH Schiller's location is very good from the perspective of getting out into the heart of Amsterdam, and indeed getting out to find something to eat at night. The hotel is in an old building; reception/lobby and bar/brasserie (when you can get in there) are attractively Art Deco. Reception staff are helpful and the hotel was, as it should be, clean.
Be aware that, because of its location on a central square, busy with nightclubs and "cafes", this location is noisy at night. Add to that the lack of double glazing in an old building and we (I am not a light sleeper) were awakened nightly at 3am when said nightclubs closed. The quality of the shower was as could be expected for an establishment of this age - variable! However, the greatest irritation was that the bar/brasserie (heavily promoted in all hotel literature, and on the website) is effectively unavailable in the evenings, as it is host to the nightly 10.30 pm "RTL4 Late Night" music TV programme (which, if you care to turn your TV to RTL4, you can watch from the comfort of your hotel bed). So, don't expect to have an evening meal in the hotel brasserie - and, in fact, don't expect good service from the bar staff when you pop in at 6pm for a quick drink before heading out for the evening. Already stacking chairs and tables for that night's show, they clearly didn't expect customers, even hotel guests, and we were not able to "revel in the cosy charm of the hotel's brasserie" as advertised (and I checked the website after we got back)! And finally... we were charged for a packet of Haribos (for crying out loud!) from the mini-bar that we absolutely did NOT eat, when we checked out!
Comfortable bed, good price
This hotel was excellent value for money. The staff were very welcoming and met all out needs. A very well located hotel if you are spending a few days in Amsterdam and would like to see the sights. We walked to all the main attractions and areas, the longest distance we walked was 20 mins. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. However, if you are a light sleeper I would recommend you ask for a room at the back of the building on a high floor as there is some noise in the evenings from the square and the hotels bar. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel, feeling we got excellent value for the money paid.
Some noise in the evenings, buy this is easily avoided by asking for a room at the back of the building on a high floor.
Rooms Noise Decor
Very busy square outside the hotel and it was very noisy late into the night.
Convenience to public transport.
Inscrutable small room for tariff charged. Constant interruption of sleep due to Noise from Dance Festival up to 4 am over three mornings in succession. Indifference of hotel staff to complaints regarding same totally unacceptable. We have visited Amsterdam over more than ten occasions so this complaint is not trivial.
NH Schiller was a great value, especially for the location. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and had all of the amenities expected. I highly recommend this hotel. It is close to the city center as well as the canal belt.
Location is very central, minutes walk away from Dam Square, the famous 9 streets and other popular sights. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and comfortable, and my bathroom had a window too (which was great)
If your room faces the square, be prepared for the clubbing masses to keep you awake until at least 4 am
Comfortable and quiet room at the back. Good and helpful check-in staff
Breakfast was poor quality and very badly presented. Later experience with front desk much less positive - was kept waiting a long time while other staff sat in the office doing nothing
party near Rembrandt monument.... antil 6 00....
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, in a large superior room with a king bed. Our room overlooked the square, and the windows opened to provide fresh air. Daily breakfast was ok, but with the falling Aussie dollar, wasn't cheap. The square had quite a party atmosphere, and the tram stop was across the square. Plenty of places to eat and lots of different shops within walking distance or 1 or 2 tram stops. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope we can return to stay again.
It didn't bother me, but late evening noise could be a problem if you are a light sleeper. The hotel does offer guests ear plugs, and you could request a room away from the Square. Breakfast does not seem to be a big thing in Amsterdam, and finding a cheap place to have breakfast eluded us. Again, maybe due to the Aussie dollar, the tram didn't seem to be cheap - might be worth looking online to find better value tourist tickets, but we ended up walking to most places anyway. Lots of places had an aversion to using credit cards as payment options - make sure you have access to cash.
Payment was taken as a cancellation and had to argue with the receptionist to explain that if Check they should treat me as a normal guest The room was NOT cleaned every day The towels were NOT changed every day Breakfast was absolutely ridiculous expensive compared to other nice places around the area Quality of the room poor/old Quality of the elevators/walls/hallways was poor/old No air conditioning Bathroom was old Room pictures suggest that rooms are new and newly reburbished, which they are not
Noise from late night show Old furniture includind old bed
Very nice, helpful staff. Hotel is old but rooms very clean and comfy bed. The area is noisy on Friday night so not best for business travellers but if you are going there to party good location for sure
no air con in the room
Hotel was great, staff very friendly and helpful, food was good would reccomend it to anyone. It can get quite noisy on a weekend and were advised to book one of their rooms which are on the back (glad we did).a woderful stay in a vibrant part of the city.
my room had a balcony with a table and a chair
no air conditioning
The position. Tram stop across from hotel. Surrounded by retaurants, cafes, pubs.
people walking and talking in the square inot the night. Sounds from night clubs, although it was not too bad.
