Room Floors Beds Noise Shared bathrooms Overpriced
Close to the station, shopes and city center
Noisy at night, walls are stained, many burned lights.
The Old Nickel Hotel has one of the greatest locations for its price in my opinion. The Central station is only a few minutes away which is very good. You fall in the heart of the red light district close to many coffeeshops and bars. It is a good place if you go to Amsterdam to party with your friends. There were no bed bugs.
The stairs are very hard to climb with the baggage. The bathroom is shared so one floor has one bathroom which can give a difficult time if you need it urgently. I had a little blood on my sheet but other than that it was clean. The rooms are very small and at night it is very noisy. This is not a place where you can get fully rested but a place which is excellent if you are going to Amsterdam to party with your friends.
Location Friendly staff
4 flights of steep stairs
Friendly staff, 5 minutes away from center of Amsterdam (red light district)
- Very old room - if you don't want to party and just wanna sleep at night, it is absolutely the wrong hotel to stay. It is very loud during the whole night, ex. at the weekend - the room is too old and smells bad. Common bathroom and WC. - the hotel is not recommended for elder people or relax-vacation, who just wanna relax after a long day walking in the city. I could not sleep during the three nights staying there.
My room was full of bed bugs. They were all over the place and I had a few sleepless nights.
good location very near centrum and redlight street as well
Location and staff were both excellent
The shower worked great, however the drain did not work.
The location of the Old nickel is pretty good, only a short walk from the central railway station and the Red light district.
I have stayed in many kinds of hotels and hostels, but this was by far the worst. It was a dump - nothing worked, the room was dirty and disguisting. It was impossible to get sleep before 2am, when the band stoped playing downstairs.
It was super
Kind staff Good value for breakfast Really close to train station No curfew
Wifi is terrible Stairs! No ensuite bathroom Shower wasn't very clean Very small room Bedbugs
BED BUGS! BED BUGS! BED BUGS EVERYWHERE!
Espacially price compared to quality and ofcourse location next to the station.
Staff was unfriendly and bedrooms are something from 1920s. Shared toilets and showers
Location was great. You are in the walking distance between the train station and city. Also liked that there was a sink in the room.
The bathrooms were dirty, but what can you expect for a shared bathroom in Amsterdam. No air conditioning was pretty rough but doable. No Wifi in rooms and no breakfast either. Okay for young travelers but we wouldn't stay again.
Position, owner's pub (good beer!), toilet and shower were clean and functional. The room door was able to cut both noise and smoke from the pub and the other rooms.
I had to kill a couple of Cimex lectularius on the wall of my room. At least thy didn't bite me!
The location is excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. We were located in the annex building, which was basic but worked well for us.
Nothing. One can't expect 5 star amenities for the price, and the room was a good value for the money.
No lift! 4th floor!
Great staff man that runs bar and hotel was really nice and helpful, looks after you luggage before your room is ready. Nice bar. Great location. Beds are unbelievably comfy best nights sleep I got on my trip and best of all so easy to find
No negatives, great value for the money you pay
Just in the center. Nice bed and good for spend a couple of days alone or with friends Great Staff!
Location incredible. They included breakfast, probably because my room reeked of mildew. Bedding was nice.
Room reeked of mildew. Smoking a cigarette in the room wouldn't have fixed it.
Location Access to building Cleanliness Exactly as advertised
Bit noisy at night
Great location! For both red light district and city centre right on the doorstep! We didn't require much, just a place to sleep and shower and that is what we got. Clean rooms and fresh towels everyday.
No air circulation in rooms, very stuffy, up all night with the heat! Bathroom light didn't work, urine on the hall carpets, check-in man wasn't very friendly, seemed fed up and not interested in business however barman had a good attitude. music in bar was good. Door card didn't work so was locked out all night with no contact to get in!!
It rained inside, light went off and never turned on. The room was pretty smelly
